More provinces as well as local government system, the problems have increased because of the elimination of local governments.
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
MQM has put forward a resolution for Seraiki province in the NA. People’s party will have a resolution passed in the next session of NA. At present they will go for three divisions from Punjab as Seraiki province, although Dera Ismail Khan and Tank (From KP), two districts of Balochistan and some areas of Naseerabad and Dera Allahyar (Sindh) are also seraiki speaking. If they want to do it, they should do it right the first time. If Seraiki province is made properly that would made it the biggest province of Pakistan, and then instead of including Bahawalpur/bahawalnagar they need to make that a separate province to cater for the desires of the people of that area.
I think its good to divide Punjab as that will remove the fears of smaller provinces towards Punjab, and its getting difficult to manage the whole of Punjab as its population is increasing. If that experience is successful, I am sure the other provinces will also demand smaller provinces for better management/administration purposes.

Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
As Imran Khan said, we definitely need more provinces for better administration but calling for the division at THIS time is nothing more than gimmicks because there are far more important issues.
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Actually I don't want to make this thread a political discussion. So no comments about abovesaid post but 'No hope'
These days issue of new provinces is high again but that is too a political case .
No serious discussion on the issue even.
I have reached to a point which can solve this issue for ever but it can also help Pakistan in all espects but who will listen us.
I have talked in this thread but I repeat that in few lines.
All four provinces should give more consttutional powers to their each five natural and historical divisons. Gawadar shouldbe made 100% free port and Rajanpur should be made federal district besides Islamabad . Than rest should be left to their respective provincial assemblies .
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Here’s what Farooq Sattar has to say about the issue.
Another ‘71’ if new provinces not made: Sattar
Talking to the media in Multan, MQM leader Farooq Sattar asked that what to do when rulers of Punjab could not solve the problems of people. Sattar demanded referendum in various districts over inclusion in south Punjab.
**Sattar said that if new provinces were not made, the situation like 1971 can emerge again. MQM is in the political arena by putting aside self interest and now a big challenge to save and make Pakistan is before us, he said.**
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Nothing comes out of having more administrative divisions.
Pak needs economics growth and a dramatic improvement in the law and order situation. The government should work on these rather than targeting the HEC, making more provinces etc. Just populist moves that would appeal to their jaahil constituents.
Perfect analysis !!
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
New provinces are needed administratively (there is no doubt about it), but this can be discussed if the timing for that is right or not.
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
hmm, MQM trying to make inroads into South Punjab…

MQM to table new provinces bill in next NA session: Sattar
**MULTAN: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar said on Sunday that the party would table a bill for Seraiki and Hazara provinces in the next session of the National Assembly.
**Addressing a press conference at the Multan Press Club, he said that 23 districts had been mentioned in the draft bill which included two districts from KPK and 21 districts of south Punjab.
He said the MQM had already presented a resolution in the National Assembly and wanted the people of the area to recognise it as a historical step for fulfilment of their legitimate demands.
He said, “The present government is sincerely making efforts for a Seraiki province. Local intellectuals and the media have done a good job in shaping up public opinion but they need to further intensify their efforts for rights.”
He said people of the area believed that a separate province and acknowledgement of their identity could help protect their rights.
He observed that people of the region were near their destination.
He said Quaid-e-Tehrik Altaf Hussain had honoured his promise during his telephone address at a public meeting here on Dec 23 last year to support the creation of a Saraiki province.
He expressed concern over the Balochistan issue and underlined urgent steps to address problems of people.
Sattar also appreciated the stance of the PPP-led government on the issue of the Saraiki province.
He said no one could separate the MQM and people of the region, adding, “We will continue to fight for rights of local people.”
He said that those who were opposing the creation of the province would turn out to be losers in the end.
He also felicitated the newly-elected Multan Press Club President Shakeel Anjum and other office-bearers.
Former District and Sessions Judge Mailsi Maher Arif Sial announced joining the MQM.

There are some moves about new provinces especially about MQM’s move .

Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Bhawalpur has a strong case because it was separate from punjab pre-One Unit. I believe the state of kalat also didn't cover the whole of balochistan, so there is an opening there for further divisions. Pakistan basically needs a US type of decentralized system with multiple provinces and empowered local govt.
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
You are right but we can not impose it at all of a sudden , I have already said this.
All four provinces should give more consttutional powers to their each five natural and historical divisions. Gawadar should be made 100% free port and Rajanpur should be made federal district besides Islamabad . Than rest should be left to their respective provincial assemblies .
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Need to start with Karachi, but of course, MQM and PPP will not hear a word about it. Karachi, a city of almost 20 million, is being run by one party, that too based on ethnic lines. First and foremost, we need a division of Karachi, so that the backbone of our economy is not held hostage by any particular party.

And how will division of Karachi as a separate province free the city from hostage of of that particular ethnic party?
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Ok back to basics , there is a very large population living in Sindh that speak Saraiki , also a pretty sizeable population in Balochistan that speaks siraki , as well in Punjab .
The area where all these three provinces meet is the area of Sirakii speaking population , its not just in Punjab ,it overlaps all the three provinces .
Bottom Line .....if there is a DEMAND by the Siraiki speaking people , then it should include all the areas ,whether they are in Punjab, Balochistan or Sindh , ...that is all the three provinces where there are Sirakii Speaking People live , should forgo their land ....in this way , since every Province will have to share in , the allegation that someone is actually trying the Divide and Rule strategy to weaken Punjab can be addressed.

The problem with other provinces is that you may not identify the specific areas where these ethinicities live. For example, I knew more than 40% of population is of Baloch origin, who adopted local language and traditions since centuries (and living in Sindh since the major migration from Balochistan took place in 16th century during Chakar e Azam era), but these Balochs are not in majority in a particular area, they are scattered from Kashmore to Karachi.

This is our problem
This simple suggestion can help a lot but it should be adopted with any reservation in mind. This should be thinking for whole Pakistan at once. Karachi is a part of Sindh and it should be remain but solving its many problems on local bases . Every province should remain under its provincial name but division should be given 50 % of income of the province on equal bases and units should give 50 %of their income to the province.
Just image about promotion of games only ,Some 25 to 30 teams in every game.
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Why not Pakistanis should think on it.

This topic has run its course and should be left alone.
Re: New Provinces ; Bahawalpur, Multan and Hazarah
Gillani has said yesterday that bahawalpur should be a part of seraiki province, maybe they want to create seraiki province as the next punjab.
