Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
After watching the first 10 minutes or so one is still left guessing what the relationship is between Mahira and Humayun. Are they married or are they co habitating. I think the line is cetainly blurred. I wonder if this was intentional on Mehreen's part. Maybe she could answer
I agree with you, i was not sure either if they are a married couple or not. I am finding this drama boring because the subject is not very strong. Just girlfiend / boyfriend issue.
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
Didn't care for this week's episode. Some things also feel like a bit of a stretch- humayun saeed paying 3k to deepti gupta and being able to afford a huge apartment despite being jobless. kher let's see how it goes
yes that was totally unbelievable!
And Humayun looks utterly bored - not sure if that's how he's supposed to look or if he's actually really bored. Kuch bezaar sa look araha hai.
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
^ agreed Humayun did look bored. feels like the story lacks an oomph factor. hope it picks up soon.
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
urgh so many things don’t add up!
rabiya, i dont think they are living together because we saw her in her own apartment, after she was done cutting nashpatis for him. (which was weird) ![]()
If they have all this money to pay Deepti 36,000 a year and live in a nice apartment in NY, then why does Mahira say he can’t go back, their lives are here?
He could’ve easily gone back and gotten a job there, instead of going through this mess and wasting so much money.
And sometimes they say they have been together forever and at one point someone said it was 2 years? and their parents really want them together? is there a back story to this?
sucha forced storyline.
boring. Mehreen needs to do something with Umera. nowwwwwwww.
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
^ yes, whether they are married or not , that was just my observation about the first episode, when Humayun comes home from work and mahira is making dinner for him. it becomes clear after about 10 minutes.Anyway I agree with you that a lot of things dont seem to be adding up. I was actually looking really forward to this drama because I do think that MJ is one of the best directors we have around. After Doraha, Malaal and especially Daam, you sort of have extremely high expectations from her. The plot of the story is just not grabbing me so far. It seems too simplistic. A liberal pakistani girl (she has to be if she phones her father to say she has broken up with her boyfriend, and the father is apparently upset) and a boyfriend who lives in a plush apartment , plus another guy who is also interested in the girlfriend, and then in comes another woman, ie deepti. I mean for all i know this could all be happening in Brazil, Spain or Germany. What exactly is pakistani about this story and how can I relate to it??Yes, Mehreen needs to go back to umera. please give us all the hard hitting, thought provoking social issues wrapped within a love story a la Daam!
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
Aside from the script being simplistic, the dialogues are at times very awkward. The exchange between ehsan and deepti gupta in the cafe felt very forced and was simply painful to watch. and some dialogues were weirdly translated for example the literal translation of "we agree to disagree".
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
Another dialogue that was weird was when deepti and friend are having a chat, and the friend says " kyun sansani phela rahi ho?". Also humayun's mother had far too many dailogues in english IMO. Ahsan's acting has improved immensley, shame he does not have anything worthwhile to say.....overall an extremely boring episode...
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
Agree with you Rabiya! The story is a HUGE letdown this time. Things just don't add up to make the story compelling.
Daam was so powerful and we all waited every week to watch it right from episode 1. This one, is just barely Ok. I think it will go the Vasl route.
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
I agree with all of you too. How can a jobless humayun afford to pay deepti $3000 per month AND live in a big apartment in Manattan AND still be desperate for a greencard??And can you really take anyone called 'sicky' seriously??
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
And can you really take anyone called** 'sicky' **seriously??
ROTFL!!! nice play on words ;)
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
Just watched episode 4. Again, what a bore! The phone calls between Humayun and his mom are becoming so tedious, Nothing meaningful is said between them. Im sure I can write better dialogues then that! Most people on Neeyat's facebook page are apparently raving about it. Maybe they are watching something entirely different. Sorry, but one more boring episode, and Im giving up on this....
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
^^ agree again Rabiya :) I forwarded thru this episode too. We knew what Ismail was going to do when he threw his camera in the trash can. We knew how Ayla was going to behave. That annoying friend of Mariyam is such an extra boring and pointless side story.
A big bore :(
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
can some please explain what Ismail is up to?
Does he have some disorder
so boring, unreal, and "scripted", lame dialogues
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
I am very curious who translated the dialogues from english to urdu? or did the actors improvise on the spot?
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
agree with everyone, after ‘daam’ this is a letdown
i believe the essence of the play was lost somewhere in its adaptation from its original script/story which is from a gora point of view, not that there is anything wrong with using a westernized theme, just that a lot of things just don’t make sense when seen from a desi angle. firstly, humayun certainly does not belong to the blue collar labour class where going back to pakistan will mean an end of the world for him, one fails to sense his frustrations or reasonings, he is too deadpan.
love the OST though!
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
Exactly!!!
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
As if 'Sicky' wasn't bad enough, now we have 'Shaukat' !! Whats going on? Is this really a Mehreen Jabbar drama???
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
^ don't forget Ismail!kiss kism kay naam hain yeh, sikandar, ismail and shauqat. what next? bahadur shah zafar?
Re: Neeyat by Mehreen Jabbar
^lol:D
