I duno, Ive used cheap ones when I used to straighten my hair once in a blue moon and they were alright but since Ive got GHD, i think im using it every week and noticing no damage on the hair without any serums, they just weight the hair down.
Although I do condition the hair very well
Femme we dont have CHI or Sedu in Australia, just GHD :(
Don’t use cheap straighteners people, it will just damage your hair in the long run.
Also, if hair serums are damaging your hair, switch to something else. I have super wavy hairy and I need a hair serum regardless of if I leave it straight or wavy.
I still haven’t been able to find anything here, no CHI, Sedu or GHD … This other lady told me she got her GHD back in England cause you just can’t find anything here. I hope I don’t have to order it online.
Sorry if my question sounds stupid but with sedu do you still have to use all those serums for straightening hair? I have a really wavy hair and I can't seem to straighten my hair unless I use lots n lots of hair serum which is damaging my hair. :(
I do not use any serums, only the hair spray which is meant to protect from heat damage. My own hair is quite curly, almost permed curlyish type but alhamdolillah its not rough or dry. I just let my hair dry naturally and if its still damp thenn use a blow dryer to do the rest and then use the iron.
The key to using straightners is to use it on small sections of hair. If you use big chunks of hair your hair will never come out silky straight. Use a protective spray and a good iron. You shouldn;t need more than a dab of serum, lots and lots of serum probably makes the hair look greasy anyway. Try this when you have time. After washing your hair(do conditions them) once ur hair is almost dry wrap your head in a malmal dupatta for an hour or so, that will keep them from frizzing up and they should dry out pretty much non frizzy. make sure ur hair is combed out very well before straightening. spray the protective serum on ur hair with special attention to the ends. then get small sections of ur hair not more than 1 inch in thickness and 2-2.5 inches in width and start straightening them. Try to hold them taut with one hand and slip ur hand down as u move the iron lower. as u get to the end turn ur iron inwards to give it a more natural look which will be non-spikey. If you still feel the need for a serum use some after u have straightened them.
malmal is sheer cotton fabric. use any cotton fabric really that isn’t too heavy and thick, if you have an old dupatta with some lawn suit that you no longer wear use that!
Adro Im sure ur GHD is as good as a Sedu if not better so worry not
I guess ulta only sells the high end irons at the stores Shay. I guess a trip is due now! Here is a link if you want to buy it online
Mine is the very first black one that you see, but try to go to ulta and buy it at 20% off using the coupon.
:crying: I didn’t know it was dual voltage or I would have bought this. That 10 yr warranty is great too. Chalo all’s not lost, like mehnaz I will make my future husband pay for this one
^ooooh i cant wait till it gets here now! :) i have straight hair but i always wanted to use a straightener that would make it SUPER straight.. hopefully this one will fulfill the wish!
mehnaz i knw u said u dnt lieke babyliss, but i used ghd and expensive 1's b4, then mine broke, and didnt want to buy another ghd for 100 pounds, so i came acriss babyliss 230 its just as good if not better than ghd, plus its a reasonable price 2
Hmm ive been using my straightener for last 3 years. Its called GAMA, some italian brand.. And its reallly good, doesnt do damage to ur hair, and straights out within 5-10 mins on normal hair, curls may take 15-20 min.
I had one cheaper from babyliss before and in my opnion it didnt do it job so good...I could still se the sections ive had straightened, and the hair got really dry and damaged. It also took my curly hair more than an hour to straight it. U guyz probably know how it is to sit with ur WARM straightner next to ur face, ending up warm and red (at least i did..) So i got the GAMA straightner and ive never been more happy:)
If u go for the cheaper alternative do remember to use heat protective spray/cream and a hair pack while taking bath/shower:) This is good either u have a cheap or a expensive straightener;)
I've used the matrix spray before straightening but it just makes my hair wet and when i straighten it it sizzles :( and it just feels yuck. am i using it wrong? Ive also used the tresseme heat protective spray and it gives broader coverage unlike the matrix one, and so far no complaints....
Hair pack is a deep conditioner u put into ur hair for 10-20 min and then wash it out. I use this instead of putting oil into my hair, cuz with oil then it just feels sticky and still smells strange after i have washed it with shampoo twice. I think its also called hair mask or something...u can ask ur hairdresser abt it..i got mine from a hairsalon and they were the one who helped me with it :)
If ur not satisfied with the spray there are "hair creams" wich u put into ur hair while its wet and let it dry before u start straighten it. I hope this helped u than confusing u more... ignore my english mistakes, im not soo used to write in english
