I am in the market for a new hair straightener. I, unthinkingly, plugged in my north american hair straightener on the other side of the world (different voltage) and it had a mini explosion.
So now I need to get a new one! A lot has changed since I got my CHI Farouk 5 years ago. I want the absolute best hair straightener, or one of the top ones, currently in the market.
That means NO Babyliss. It’s alright, but CHI and GHDs are better. There is also now an FHI??
There’s a new one out called Sedu??
They have a lot more variety here so I don’t know what one to get. Any recommendations on what is superb right now? I should get something that has international voltage … very important.
I am also looking for hair straighteners but unlike the initiator of this thread I am looking for the cheapest one in the market that does the job i.e. straightens the hair out. I dont care if it is Sedu or Seduce, CHI or HE and SHE.
Any recommendations on what is cheapest right now?

I have a sedu and I absolutely love it, much more than my CHI which stopped working last year and then started working again once I got my Sedu but I liked the latter way too much to return it. Get anything that is ionic and has tourmaline in it. Even CHI now has an ionic one now. But if you are planning to buy a sedu I say its agood choice.
p.s. will reply to ur pm once the gazillion things going wrong have gone right or at least better.
p.p.s. If its your husbands money then get the priciest one out there. We don;t want him to get comfortable thinking you're low maintenance or anything you know ;)
Are hte cheaper ones OK if u use them occasionally (2-4 times a month)?
I would think that the really pricey ones are better if you use them very frequently..
im not too thrilled w/ the one i have, but cant xactly afford a CHI/Sedu right now....
lol Belle ... I'm sure ashley has already thought of that. :p
Sedu ... ok, I luved my CHI to death. I had a little cry when it died. We were together for 5 years. I guess now it is time to try something new. I will look into the Sedu.
GHD and Sedu seem to be winning where as CHI is something from the past.
Price wise GHD is way expensive than Sedu and they both basically are the same thing except I think GHD doesnt have tourmaline in it where as Sedu does.
Khumar i have never used those exp ones so not sure how good the end product is. I very rarely straighten my hair and when i do, i use Wigo Jade and it does a fantastic job for me. If i remember correctly it cost me like 36 bucks at ULTA. It boasts it has real jade plates . WHatever it has works very well for me so i havent thought abt investing in a more exp one esp when i dont use it very often. you could try this as a cheaper option if you like.
i bought my straightner from ebay..and i thought i abt chi..but when i got it..to my suprise it was called..schi..and now i am wondering
wht is SCHI..
number 2 chi?
