oh man, this sucks. New Jersey lost, again. :(
What an intense game! Today’s game was much like LAKERS vs KINGS Game 4 of the Western Conference finals last year. Minnesota had a great chance to go up 3-1 on the LAKERS. In slightly less dramatic fashion, the WOLVES failed as Kevin Garnett missed two FTs. Shaquille O’Neal powered the LAKERS to a 102-97 win, leading a rally from a 11-point deficit with less than 14 minutes remaining of the game.
From the start, LAKERS had problem as Rick Fox left the court 'cause of ankle problem. He got his X-Ray done, dunno for sure whether he’ll be available for Tuesday’s game.
Derek Fisher had poor day. He had 1 out of 5 3-point shooting. Also, he fouled 4 times. LAKERS played without their superstars Fisher, Fox and Horry almost in the 4th qtr and still WON!
Devean George’s bucket with close to 4:40 left enabled the LAKERS to take a one-point lead, which LAKERS held on the rest of the way. He was fine from the field. Also, Shaw kept LAKERS hope alive when he shot 3-point Basket!
Shaq, mah man, dominated the game from the start. He’s getting the same face-look back; and I feel that, though, he was again poor from the line, 8 out of 16, which is disturbing. Out of 25 points in the 1st qtr, Shaq had 15 points. Game-high 34 points game, yeh!
Kobe had trouble shooting FGs. Despite of strained right arm(which he had in Game 2), he ain’t complaining; and still willing to play. That’s how Champions play. Here you have a guy, who’s no. 2 in the NBA season 2003, who doesn’t want to give it up! 32-point Game. KEWL!
5Abi, No need to argue with LAKERS hate mongers.
Btw, today lots of Hollywood stars showed up. Jack Nicholson and Andy Garcia were present as usual. Heather Locklear, along with her hubby(dunno his name), Leonardo Di Caprio and Dustin Hoffman showed up for the first time. I missed Will Smith. He’s much lookalike of Robert Horry. ![]()
Anyway, next match is on the road for LAKERS. They have got to be aggressive, offensive with solid defence and great ball moment. Also, they need to double team Troy Hudson. The way, he was shooting 3-points, he shut the whole STAPLES Center in the 2nd qtr(AHHH!!!) Great potential Hudson has got! He had 28 points.
Have been watching LAKERS for past years, LAKERS never go for double-team against a single player. Something, LAKERS need to focus on. Again, court pressure from the start was present from the WOLVES. LAKERS don’t do that either. These two main factors are important, which could let LAKERS down but by doing so, it makes players tired. Hudson sat out much of the court 2nd half while Garnett was in and out couple of times in the 2nd half.
Anyway, next game is on Tuesday @ Minnesota. Best of 7-Game series is tied two games apiece.
P.S. Tony Parker is back in action. I won’t be able to watch the SPURS-SUNS clash. Damn!
Nah, man. I still got interest left in the playoffs. If LAKERS couldn’t get a chance for the 4th consecutive Championship, I wouldn’t be upset 'cause somebody needs to be happy. ![]()
Also thread hasn’t faded, and as I said earlier, I don’t wanna hear useless → this beats that, we beat them. Either carry on the argument or don’t post comments. Anyone can view the scores on nba.com.
Why are you the official sponsor of NBA.com. :nahnah:
Anyway, here are today’s result.
Boston def Indiana 102-92
Lakers def Minnesota 102-97
Orlando def Detroit 100-92
Currently Portland on fire against Dallas 82-62 end of 3rd qrtr.
I expect the Blazers to win this.
Anyways, eventhough I want to see the Lakers lose, but the playoffs won’t be so good without Kobe and Shaq, so it would be better for them to lose to Mavericks or Kingz in Western Conference Finals.
Did I even mention that? All you can do or say, this beats that, they beat them. In Your Face :nahnah:
MARVERICKS lost. ![]()
Nice U-Turn. ![]()
LAKERS to lose against MARVERICKS, you wish hahahahah.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Shaquille O’Neal had a simple plan to keep the Lakers from being on the brink of elimination: Just get him the ball.
I told the guys before the game, get me the ball and move out of the way,'' he said. I’ve just got to have the ball in a position where I can do something. As soon as I’m open, I would like to have it.‘’
He got it – from his teammates and off the boards – and that was the difference Sunday as Los Angeles rallied for a 102-97 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves to even their first-round playoff series 2-2.
O’Neal had 34 points, 23 rebounds and six assists for the three-time defending champions, who won by outscoring the Timberwolves 22-11 in the last seven minutes.
Minnesota didn’t make a field goal in a span of 5:18 while falling behind for good, and Kevin Garnett missed two free throws with 15 seconds remaining and a chance to pull the Timberwolves within one.
This was a game that we had to have,'' O'Neal said. We did what we’re supposed to do.‘’
When asked why he didn’t get the ball more often, O’Neal replied: ``I don’t have any … idea. I would like to get the ball every … time. I shouldn’t have to say it.‘’
Game 5 will be played Tuesday night at Target Center, where the teams split the first two games of the series. Game 6 is Thursday night at Staples Center.
O’Neal grabbed 10 of the Lakers’ 18 offensive rebounds to help them to a 29-2 advantage in second-chance points.
Lakers coach Phil Jackson and teammate Kobe Bryant challenged O’Neal to be more physical, and the self-proclaimed MDE – most dominant ever – did just that.
``Shaq was extremely aggressive – he had by far his best game of the whole series,‘’ Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders said.
Regarding his dominance on the boards, O’Neal said: ``I was just there, trying to get all the loose balls, trying to get the tips, trying to do my part.‘’
He did his part, and more.
Bryant added 32 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, despite shooting 7-of-25. He was 16-of-17 from the foul line, making four free throws without a miss in the last 12.8 seconds to clinch the victory.
This is typical playoff basketball,'' Bryant said. You just have to do whatever it takes to win the ballgame.‘’
Garnett had 28 points, 18 rebounds and five assists, but his missed free throws were costly.
Total missed opportunity,'' Garnett said of the loss. We had them on the ropes, too. They know it.‘’
Troy Hudson also had 28 points, although he did not score in the fourth quarter, missing his only two shots.
Baskets by Rod Strickland, Garnett and Anthony Peeler gave Minnesota an 80-74 lead, and it was 86-80 following Strickland’s basket with 7:32 remaining.
But the Lakers fought back, and a jumper by Devean George with 4:40 to play gave them an 88-87 lead – their first since the second quarter.
They were on top the rest of the way.
George made a 3-pointer to make it 93-89, but Wally Szczerbiak’s 3-pointer with 2:15 left made it a one-point game.
Bryant made two free throws 20 seconds later, and neither team scored again until the Timberwolves fouled O’Neal on purpose with 50.8 seconds left.
O’Neal, who stepped to the line having made 7-of-13, made one to give the Lakers a four-point lead.
Garnett responded by making a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left to make it 96-95. Garnett appeared to shove George twice to get open for his shot.
Bryant missed a driving shot, but O’Neal tipped it in with 19.1 seconds to play for a three-point lead – setting up Garnett’s two misses.
``I messed up. I’ll take them any time,‘’ Garnett said.
Saunders said his team’s 17 turnovers and the Lakers’ dominance on the offensive boards were major factors in the outcome.
They beat us at the things we do well,'' he said. We’re not going to go away. It’s down to a best-of-three series with two in our place.‘’
Lakers coach Phil Jackson called it a survival game for his team.
We got second-chance points that were overwhelming,'' he said. That’s the difference in the ballgame.‘’
The Timberwolves outscored the Lakers 17-7 for a 74-63 lead – the largest of the game for either team.
The Lakers then scored the last eight points of the third quarter, and a 3-pointer by Bryant early in the final period tied it at 74.
The Timberwolves led at halftime 45-43 thanks to Hudson’s 11 points in thelast three minutes of the second quarter.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) – One more win, Tracy McGrady reminded the sellout crowd with a raised finger as he walked off the court Sunday.
One more win, and the Orlando Magic will have knocked off the No. 1 seed in the East.
McGrady had 27 points and nine assists as the Magic defeated the Pistons 100-92 Sunday to take a 3-1 lead in their first-round playoff series. Drew Gooden added 20 points and 13 rebounds while Darrell Armstrong came off the bench to score 18.
Orlando last advanced past the opening round in 1996 – when it swept Detroit – and has dropped four series since. McGrady has exited in the first round three straight times, the first with Toronto and then two more after coming home to central Florida.
All those trends can all be undone with a Magic victory in Detroit on Wednesday – but not until then.
Our guys are just keeping their composure, going out here focused and playing with a great deal of confidence -- and that what we're going to need to close out this series,'' said McGrady, averaging 36.3 points against Detroit. We can’t get too comfortable right now. We’ve still got another game to play.‘’
Added Armstrong: ``One of the hardest things for a team to do is close out another team, especially on their floor.‘’
Orlando shot 50 percent against the NBA’s best defense, and Armstrong proved that almost everything the Magic tossed up was going in. With 6:14 to play and 1 second on the shot clock, he swished a falling-away heave that put the Magic ahead 95-77 – their largest lead of the series.
``That’s when you thought the stars were aligned our way,‘’ Orlando coach Doc Rivers said.
The Pistons, losers of 12 straight road playoff games, failed to top 43 percent shooting for fourth straight game. They shot 42 percent and committed 15 turnovers – including two passes into the stands in the fourth quarter.
``I don’t know what it is. I don’t have an explanation for it,‘’ said Chauncey Billups, who led Detroit with 25 points despite a bruised left thigh but missed 11 of 12 shots after a 16-point first quarter.
Ben Wallace had 12 points, 24 rebounds and seven steals, while Clifford Robinson had 14 points. Richard Hamilton, who was averaging 26.7 points, had five while shooting 2-for-11.
We've got to respond at home and we've got to get another opportunity to come back here,'' Detroit coach Rick Carlisle said. (The Magic) did what they set out to do and defended their home court, and we’re going to have to do that on Wednesday.‘’
Orlando scored 18 unanswered points late in the third quarter to seize control. McGrady had seven points and Armstrong six in the run that put the Magic ahead 77-65 with 1:10 left in the period.
Detroit, meanwhile, had zero offense, settling for jumpers with the shot clock winding down. The Pistons missed nine straight shots in the quarter’s final 5:36.
Orlando got help from the officials for the first time in the series. After three games in which the Magic were outshot from the line 108-74, they had 42 free throws to the Pistons’ 22. Detroit’s Chucky Atkins and Robinson were incensed enough to draw technicals for complaining.
Orlando got a big second-quarter contribution from a missing link to come back from a 10-point deficit.
Pat Garrity, hobbling from a bruised pelvis, hit a jumper and 3-pointer, and the Magic reeled off 11 unanswered points for a 30-29 lead with 9:08 left before halftime. Entering the game, Garrity had missed all seven of his attempts – making an injection of cortisone last week his only good shot of the series.
``It’s a nice feeling, but we’ve got to be ready for a war back there in Detroit,‘’ said Garrity, who now has seven points for the series.
From there, the game had 12 lead changes and five ties until Orlando closed the half on a 7-2 burst for a 54-50 lead.
At the game’s start, Detroit’s offense showed little sign that it was going to snap out of its plodding ways. On their opening five possessions, the Pistons had four poor shots as the clock ran down and a 24-second violation, and they soon fell behind 13-6.
But the Pistons, led by the point guard who had criticized the offense’s predictability the day before, began to play a faster style and the points began to flow. Billups had 12 points as Detroit closed the period on a 23-6 run and led 29-19 after one.
Yet a hot start again went for naught.
I can't remember a time that three games in a row we have been up 14, 10 and 10 after the first quarter and we lost that game,'' Pistons forward MichaelCurry said. That’s hasn’t happened to us in the last two years.‘’
Trail Blazers 98, Mavericks 79

April 27, 2003
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – When the game was over and the Trail Blazers had avoided another playoff sweep, Portland coach Maurice Cheeks sat alone on the bench grinning ear-to-ear.
The Trail Blazers snapped a 10-game postseason losing streak with a 98-78 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night.
Cheeks earned his first playoff win as a head coach after six losses.
``You have no idea how important it is to get that victory,‘’ he said later, still smiling.
Without injured stars Scottie Pippen, Derek Anderson and Arvydas Sabonis, the Trail Blazers rallied to send the series back to Dallas for Game 5. Zach Randolph had 25 points and 15 rebounds while Damon Stoudamire had 17 points and 11 assists.
``What went right? We made shots and they didn’t make shots,‘’ Cheeks said.
The victory snapped Portland’s 10-game playoff losing streak which dated back to Game 7 of the 2000 Western Conference finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.
But no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit to win a seven-game series, and the Mavericks haven’t lost four in a row all season.
After trailing 52-49 at the break, the Blazers had a 21-0 run in the third quarter and went on to lead by as many as 24 points.
Randolph tied it at 54 with a layup at 8:52 of the third quarter, and Rasheed Wallace hit a go-ahead 3-pointer before Randolph added a jumper to make it 59-54.
Randolph’s slam dunk and layup made it 67-58 before Stoudamire’s fast break layup and free throw put the Blazers ahead 70-58.
The already hurting Blazers got a scare was on their next possession when center Dale Davis was poked in the left eye by Eduardo Najera on a layup. After hitting the foul shot, Davis retreated to the locker room.
He later returned to watch from the bench as the Blazers continued to build on their lead. The Mavericks’ 10 points in the third quarter was a team playoff-low.
Third period, I don't know what to tell you. I was very disappointed with our performance,'' Mavs coach Don Nelson said. We just didn’t have much life out there for whatever reason. We were outhustled and outplayed and outeverythinged in the third quarter.
``In the fourth quarter I decided that we should probably wait for another day.‘’
Dirk Nowitzki had 26 points and 11 rebounds for the Mavericks, who lacked intensity for the first time in the series.
We ruined a great opportunity,'' said Dallas guard Steve Nash. Luckily we’ve got another one on Wednesday.‘’
Before the game started, it didn’t look good for the Blazers.
Pippen again watched from the bench in street clothes, still bothered by pain in his surgically repaired left knee.
Sabonis, the team’s 7-foot-3 Lithuanian reserve center who provided an offensive spark coming off the bench in Game 3, had back spasms and did not dress.
Portland had already lost starting guard Anderson three minutes into Game 2 with torn cartilage in his left knee. Anderson had surgery on Saturday.
The Blazers dressed just nine players, but came out surprisingly strong.
Dallas jumped out to an early 10-4 lead but Portland went on a 10-2 run to go up 14-12 on Bonzi Wells’ 3-pointer. The Blazers held on to the lead until midway through the second quarter, when Raef LaFrentz hit on a layup to put Dallas in front 38-36.
Portland moved back into a 42-41 lead on Wallace’s turnaround jumper, and Wells followed up with another 3-pointer.
Nowitzki answered with six straight points, including four straight free throws, and the Mavericks went on to lead 52-49 at the half on Nick Van Exel’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer.
``This was every disappointing. We were right there at halftime, but when we came out in the third quarter, we couldn’t get anything to go in,‘’ Van Exel said.
Pippen was uncertain whether he could play on Wednesday. He was more optimistic about the Blazers’ chances in the series.
A lot of guys really laid it all out tonight,'' he said. I know that it’s never been down before (coming back after a 3-0 deficit), but there’salways a first time.‘’
Salaam,
Why are you guys posting recap's of every game. I think eveyrone knows that you can go on espn.com to get the recaps.
Back to basketball. I think Minnesota is in the drivers seat to beat the Lakers even after today's loss. Lakers beat Minnesota by 6points and thats after Minn couldn't hit a field goal for the last 7minutes or so.
Sacramento Kings will win the championship this year if CWebb understands that he is not a SG but PF and start playing like one than the Kings cannot be beaten. By the Lakers or anyone else. The Lakers are 2 deep the Kings are 8 deep. Mav's can score but can't play any defense. Portland is too unstable. Minnesota doesn't have enough talent(as compared to the Dallas and Sac or even Portland). Spurs can't beat the Kings but will whip on Dallas. And whoever comes out of the East is wasting their time.
Zoab, if it was only about "deepness", the Queens would have won it last year and year before last year :D So being 8 or 10 deep doesnt guarantee you the championship, it may brighten your chances yah. Queens were favorite to win last year, ask anyone, but Lakers being 2 deep won nevertheless, cos they showed heart and champions die hard :D
Also you are right, the title will again go to the western conference team and eastern conference shouldnt even show up for the finals to save face :D

Dear friend, this is discussion board, some people might not have access to some sites.
Deepness of the Queens, huh. There is no end of their whining. Everytimes they lose a game it must because of the refs. I am just wondering why doesn't NBA give one Championship to Sacramanto queens, at least it will keep them from quiet. They are so desperate to win a Championship. Chokers !!
After their loss against the Jazzs, The Kings were fuming over the foul discrepancy.
"The refs need to see both sides of the game. They can play physical, but we can't play physical,'' said Bobby Jackson, who also fouled out. "It's ridiculous. I'd rather have high school refs than NBA refs.''
What makes a team best is that they don’t complain about poor officials but play the game as hard as they can. Just look at Kobe(who has got strianed right arm) and Shaq(ups and downs in his life in the last week). But they still are playing 'cause they know, this is the moment, they got to seized it, owned it as it’s never gonna come back. This is the reason why Los Angeles LAKERS rank on top!

BLAZERS vs MARVICKS
At last, BLAZERS won their first playoffs game in 3 years. Last time, LAKERS beat them by 4-3 in 2000. Since then, they never won a single playoffs game as most of their players face court, going and coming out of jail 'cause of illegal drug possession. I heard Media referred them as JAIL BLAZERS than TRIAL BLAZERS(actual name). Anyway, great victory by them. I missed Scott Pippen, man and hope he would be able to play in Game 5 on Wednesday. If he’s fit, BLAZERS will have a huge boost in their confidence.
I was surprised Steve Nash couldn’t make a single basket last night. It never happed to him before, I think. But it doesn’t harm MAVERICKS. They just need to win one game to wrapped up 1st round of the playoffs. MARVERICKS leads the series by 3-1.
Damn, SUNS defeated SPURS. I didn’t watch the game but by looking at the scores, I’m still wondering there were like 10+ turnovers from both teams. Why’s that?
Guy name, Jake had a winning shot as SUNS(86) beat SPURS(84). Best of 7-Game series is tied two games apiece.

Lakers have been favorite to win the championship for 3years straight. I dont' know how you got the idea that Kings were favorite to win last year. Kings and Spurs were all top notch teams but no way were they the favorites. Even this year with the bad start of the Lakers most people are picking the Bandwagon Fan's Lakers to win it all.
About the complaining. After Game 6 last year how can anyone not complain of the officiating? Kings got raped. They should be bitching about the officials. What about the Kobe saying 2 years back that "we don't get any calls in Arco." Then he was whining about being "Food Poisened." Like someone's gonna purposelly piss in his Water Melon.
Someone mentined the Lakers have heart? Lakers have heart? Shaq has come out repeatedly and said, he doesn't play "all out" in the regular season etc. Where's the heart their. No dought Kobe is pretty bad azz but thats the only player whose got heart on your team.
Bryant never whinned about posioned food. It made his health bad just for one Game against KINGS. Also, according to Bryant, he loves to play on road, specially in Arco Arena. Neither, I’ve never witnessed Bryant whinning about officials in Arco Arena. Bottom line, LAKERS came out good against KINGS in their own arena.![]()
Shaq never played good in regular season, eh? Oh bhai, 'cause of Shaq, LAKERS have won countless games; and he would be BIG difference in tomorrow’s game. Watch out, WOLVES! Last time Shaq fouled out that was Game 5 of the Western Conference Final last year against KINGS in Arco Arena. Since then, I’ve never seen him getting fouled out. With great body moment, aggresiveness and slam dunks makes Shaq among the best players of NBA. ![]()
Just heard on NBA news. Rick Fox is out of the playoffs.
He will go under his left foot surgery; and according to the medical official it will take at least 6-8 months. Rick Fox is a great basketball player, though, he was unable to handle Troy Hudson.
I’m expecting either Mark Madsen aka Mad Dog or Devean George in the starting line up. Kareem Rush could be good choice 'cause of great moment on the court but he struggles from the field. Anyhow, LAKERS gotta control Hudson 'cause I reckon he’s difference in WOLVES starting line-up than Garnett. Good luck to both teams.
Let’s Go LAKERS!!!
GO LAKERRRRRRSSSSSSSS :k: :k:
poor Rick Fox ![]()
you da man passionate ![]()
anyone else on board :D?
I was very surprised to see poor performance by the T'wolves tonight at home.
One handed, slam dunk by Kobe over 2 seven-footers was the defining moment of the game. Lakers beat Minnesnowta by 30: 120 - 90
5Abi,
Passo is a girl, not man. :smack: And yeah that EXCUSE-ME-WHILE-I-TOUCHED-THE-SKY slam dunk was off the hook! No question about it. Kobe made that attempt despite of strained right-arm. I couldn’t be able to watch the end moment of the game. Stupid TNT :grumpy: turned into NBA HDTV for CELTICS vs PACERS game, in which PACERS won. Tonight LAKERS’ 30 Points victory made up for the disappointment of losing Game 2. :mash:
Passo: Rick Fox assisted LAKERS from the bench. If you watched the game, he had court boad in his hands, locating players position. He was doin’ Phil Jackson’s job. As usual, Jackson was cool and clam.
Mic check one, two…we recordin’?
It all started off with 3 Pt FGs by Derek Fisher, chipped in 24 points. Fisher outplayed Hudson. As Fisher caught some breath, Robert Horry chipped in two 3 Pt FGs. Pargo, Shaw and Walker assts the team very well. LAKERS trailed only by 2 points in the beginning of the 1st qtr. In the 2 qtr, score tied up on 40 but afterwards, Game was out of WOLVES hands. The biggest disappointment came in the shape of Troy Hudson, who had 2/9 3 Pt FGs, scored 14 points. Garnett tallied 25 points and 16 rebounds. No other WOLVES player contributed in the game. LAKERS stood in front of WOLVES, picked up rebounds, penetrated WOLVES; and got buckets in the end. And that’s the way ball bounces. :biggthumb
[thumb=B]capt1.JPG[/thumb]
Shaq and Kevin
Kobe Bryant poured in 32 points and Shaquille O’Neal added 27 points as the LAKERSs cruised to a 120-90 victory over Minnesota in Game 5 of their playoff series.
Just one win would advance LAKERS to the Semi-Finals of the Western Conference. Game 6 is on Thursday @ STAPLES Center.
Note: Kobe Bryant has been selected in the USA Senior team for Olympics, along with Jermaine O’Neal, and Allen Iverson(I.A.). Coach Larry Brown of 76ers would server as a head coach of the USA senior team. Check Report.
