But, PML(N) did tried to not have the election in NA-123 and NA-51. Even if PML(N) wins they would certainly have much more resistance because conditions now are very different from last elections..

You just said how PML[N] was not popular in Punjab just 2-3 posts back and were accrediting their victory in the province to Musharraf's hatred and PPP's support? I am sure if the PPP had faith in these areas to win, they wouldn't have entered into a seat sharing partnership there.

Shiekh Rashid cant even manage 10 people in his press conferences now. The man cant win without a major party's backing and plus his lal masjid fiasco pretty much said bye bye to his support in the city. The real reasons as to why the elections are delayed, have zilch to do with PML[N]s confidence as to whether they can win this seat or not.

I am not sure if u were in ak at teh time of elections but it wa sthe first time That PPP voted for PML(N) and PML(N) voted for PPP against a common enemy PML(Q) and Musharaf.. even in my place here there was a common fever to vote out PML(Q)..
Sh rashid has gone all out to have those elections going on High Court and Supre Court and finally claimed victory and a election is due on Feb 24th.. whereas PML(N) has tied to avoid elections.. in Lahore it is widespread that if Nawaz Sharif cant run due to his 10 yr ban (Deal with Musharaf) then Hafiz Salman Butt would win for Jamat-e-Islami..

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided in principle to support N-league candidates for by-polls on NA-55 and NA-123.
The announcement in this regard will be made soon.
Source close to PPP said that according to an agreement made between PPP, PML-N in case of by-polls, both parties would support the candidate of a party, which had earlier won general selections.
Both parties are in contact in connection with by-polls on NA-55, 123. However, a final decision will be made by President Asif Ali Zardari next week.
It has been learnt that four candidates of the PPP Amir Fida Paracha, Khalid Nawaz, Mian Khurram Rasool and Fauzia Habib for these seats.
PPP Secretary General told Geo that the meeting of election board would be called in this regard.

RAWALPINDI: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-N Ch Nisar Ali Khan said on Wednesday the party had changed its policy and in future, only committed workers would be given party tickets to contest elections.
He made these remarks while addressing a workers’ convention held to launch the election campaign of Shakeel Awan, a party candidate for NA-55 constituency of Rawalpindi.Ch Nisar said his party would not tolerate corruption and illegal activities in the country as well as in the party.
He expressed the confidence that people will support the PML candidate during the by-elections. He said that the Sharif brothers had deep love and affection for Rawalpindi and they took keen interest in its development.

Have any one of you saw a Dunya Tv program about this costituency today, PML N candidate avoided that in spite of request that they are ready to send a OBC van to participate as where he is. Tehreek e Insaf's Jazi however spoke a few words. Why I am interested ?

Punjab govt will rig NA-55 by-polls: Rashid
ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) President Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday alleged that the Punjab government will rig polls in NA-55 constituency, and warned that he will request the Election Commission to hold the polls under the army’s supervision instead of Punjab police, if the situation demanded.
Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club, Rashid denied that he had had dinner with President Asif Ali Zardari, and accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership of holding midnight meetings with the military top brass for future conciliation. “Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and opposition leader Nisar Ali Khan held four one-on-one meetings with military generals to strike political deals,” he alleged. Rashid said that Punjab police had been after him during the election campaign, and had been monitoring his activities. The Punjab government was pressurising police officials to motivate public support for the PML-N for the by-polls scheduled for February 24, he added.
Rashid accused Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for postponing the by-polls on the Punjab CM’s insistence. The AML president claimed that he had the support of 75 percent of voters from NA-55, and did not need the overt or covert support of any party. ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan announced on Tuesday that by-election in NA-123 Lahore, PP-82 Jhang and PP-284 Bahawalnagar would be held on March 10.
According to a handout issued by the ECP, by-polls on a National Assembly seat and two Punjab Assembly seats would be conducted on March 10.
The nomination papers for the three constituencies will be submitted from Feb 1 to 4 while inspections will be carried out from Feb 6 to 8.
According to the election commission, the nomination papers could be withdrawn by Feb 17 while the final list would be released on Feb 18.
Polling for these seats will take place on March 10, the ECP announced.
