Re: My wedding 'stuff'

a future bride in distress!!!**
salam everyone,
i am sooooo glad i stumbled across theis website, because i am having a dilema at the mo. I am travelling to pakistan (lahore)in august to get married, however I have one week to choose my wedding lengha, is this possible or am i just kidding myself. My plan was to just shop around in first day i arrive and see what i can find but i keep thinkin that every boutique is going to say the same thing to me which is that they cant give it to me by the end of the week. i want a 3 quarter sleeve top and i aint model skinny but a lil curvy and will need it tailoring to my size .

my other issue is beatician. i wanna book in wit ellenora or madeeha but i duno how much in advance ure supposed to book. i have emailed maddehas but had no response. i rang ellenora and they were so rude ....

so a lil guidance from u beatiful ppl would help a load of my mind...

Re: My wedding 'stuff'

^omg im in the SAME BOAT!
so nice to know there are ppl out there like me
im getting married end of july (31st) and will only have a week (actually 4 days) to do all my shopping- that means shadi and valima dress and jewelry
so im going to tell you its possible b/c thats what i want to hear myself :)
ok biggest piece of advice-- use your contacts and relatives in Pak--
have someone (my cousins doing it for me) go around to the palors you are interested in, get quotes, and book now!
also give your contacts a rough sketch of the kind of lengha you are looking for, have them scout the boutiques for the best looks and prices, that way when you get there you will have a narrow list of 4-6 to work w/
and i wouldnt worry about the tailoring at all, thats probably the easiest thing on your to-do list--
if the boutique says they cant sew/alter it for you by the end of the week- take it to one of your relatives darzis and have it done there, usually these darzis have worked w/ the family for years and will do favors like this willingly
hope this helps, and also thing happy thoughts- that usually helps too :)

Re: My wedding 'stuff'

Re: My wedding 'stuff'

Girls, don't fret. You can totally find a good wedding lehnga and have it ready in one week. Go to Liberty Market in Lahore, and visit shops such as Zardozi, Think Pink, Ashee's, Saleem Fabrics and Portia. They have many ready made bridals that are very stylish and trendy. All you'll have to do is get the shirt stitched to your size (the shirt comes already embroidered), which a tailor can do in 2 days. Many of my cousins have done this with great results. And usually the outfits at these places are well priced. Good luck!

Re: My wedding 'stuff'

does anyone know if the nath (the nose thing the bride wears-i dont know if its called nath) is in these days??

Re: My wedding 'stuff'

^I think anything is in these days. Really depends on your style. If you're going for a more "modern" look, then maybe don't wear it. But if you like it, wear it.

Re: My wedding ‘stuff’

^ What exactly is the “traditional” bride vs the “moderN” bride ? I mean how r they sposed to look ? :clown:

Re: My wedding ‘stuff’

My idea of a “traditional” look, lots of makeup, heavy jewelry, koka, flowers, churiyan, purse, lots of dark makeup and a big poufy lengha :cb:

And the “modern” look to me is a very sleek design, very fitted etc in a not-so-traditiaonl color (i cudnt think of wat to make this one though :halo: )
