Nai,its not that.My fish is certainly very protective of its figure because it never lets me touch it fins .finding a guy and popping baby fish isnt her thing i guess.

Wow just because you don’t understand a human-animal relationship (Platonic ofcourse) you think you can knock on it? I don’t think you understand the complexities that come with owning a pet. They are a huge responsibility; emotional, physical and monetary. I think the OP wants to know the underlying cause of her fish being a mute. Its a valid issue that any of us might come across when dealing with our pets. Just because its a fish does not make it any less important or inferior. I hope I make myself clear.

As to the OP.

  • Have you been feeding it properly? Timely meals make a fish happy.
  • Are the O2 levels in the tank correct? A fish needs to breathe properly.
  • Is it getting enough light? Make it bright, rainbow colours preferrred.
  • Is it a new pet? It takes time for all living things to adjust.
  • Is it just one fish? Maybe it is having trouble with other fishes?
  • Have you tried playing it music? I hear fish respond well to certain genre.
  • You can always take it to a counsellor. Dr Doolittle is highly recommended.

Your fish needs another companion from the Animal kingdom. Try getting a cat. Set the cat in front of your fish. And then maybe Bubbles will start talking.
