Re: Mustafa Kamal - Cruising Karachi - New Horizon
^Noone has "full" control over police not even the PM. Thats just how our beaurocracy is. But perhaps you are missing the point captain bhai.
Mustafa Kamal not just another Nazim doing good work, he is an active member of a fascist party and promoting him is promoting that party, there are no two ways about it. And he not the one with apst that we can overlook and move on, he is actively engaged in promoting agenda of his ethnic party MQM. SO plz don't ask us to see Mustafa Kamal and MQM as separate things. And Hafiz Saeed's Jamat AL dawa has also done tremendous charity work, but, in the end we dismantled it because of what the whole party stands for. I see people promoting Mustafa Kamal actually promoting Altaf Hussain in guise.

In that case you shouldn't be appreciating ex-mayor Naimatullah too, correct?
Re: Mustafa Kamal - Cruising Karachi - New Horizon
^I am not praising him or atleast have never tried to promote him or his party. I just pointed out that in terms of development he too did many things that people were praising on many forums , that was just in the context of this discussion.
Re: Mustafa Kamal - Cruising Karachi - New Horizon
^ I don't promote someone either, I only applaud a good deed thats all, even if Zardari does something good I will appreciate that regardless of his character or his party.
Re: Mustafa Kamal - Cruising Karachi - New Horizon
^ everybody is showing these pictures to show that their hatred one owns this money. When Khanani and Kalia were taken down these pictures were circulated that Kalia people had this much money and they are shut down because Zardari asked for few million dollars.
Spock, reading ur posts I must say that if you are given task of managing Karachi, your head will explode in just one day. Mustafa Kamal behaves much better keeping in view his work load of such big metroplois. Even people from small shanty towns in Karachi (illetrate) would give u very hard time and you would want to hit them. They are like honey bee's.
On behaviour with journalists, one lady journalist asked him about his recent trip to U.S. while he was on site visit in Karachi to solve water issue and surrounded by many people and he answered,"whats the relation of my U.S. visit here, is this problem done by U.S." I think that was a perfect answer.
If Mustafa Kamal is given task to manage Islamabad, his behavour would be best among all. Always smiling....
May your relatives live in the outskirts of the city. I have seen big part of the city and it is so much better after all the recent construction-trash is removed.
Could be. But Mustafa Kamal is not bringing new money through investments- he is just using taxpayers money. I have no problems with him if he is using money to make Pakistanis' life better.
Re: Mustafa Kamal - Cruising Karachi - New Horizon
Ask some one about property prices in Karachi. Going down and down. No impact of Coridors.First they should have to stop habit of target killing. 23 years of killing the people.
Karachi once most beautiful and cleanest city of India and later Pakistan till late seventies is now ugliest, dirtiest and safe haven for criminals and terrorists.
Unfortunately mayor of Karachi belongs to urban terrorist party; the city did not deserve such personality to ruin completely, once Paris of Sindh. Look at old pictures of Karachi; you would be surprised to know that the city was as good as developed European or American City.
Sure you're not talking about the land of the five rivers, where the Punjabi Taliban are quickly gaining ground?
You certainly have a way of turning everything into ethnic issue.
Lets be honest, Karachi is a very dirty city, even in comparison to Lahore. I wish it werent so, but why deny the obvious?!?!
Almost any picture of Karachi, even at random, and you see kachra strewn everywhere.
And I have been to Karachi, and have never been impressed in the live either, excpet the posh areas.

Karachi is actually among the more retrogressive cities of the world. Im suprised to see the trams going about in old pics of Karachi. From what I hear it was actualy a fairly reliable system. Now they can hardly run a single bus effectively...
The tram system, bus service was excellent in yester years, mqm can only dream about these efficient systems run by devoted and honest people whose only concern was to keep the city clean, green, ample drinking water, maintained most efficient system of drainage and sewerage, traffic flows, maintenace and making of new roads, electricity, supply of goods and services at prices less than whole of the country and minimum crime level.
One day you will see Quaid's Mazar will vanish in ill planed buildings and illegal occupation of land. I am sorry to say that mqm defaced Karachi to such a level which can never be revived to its past glory. They talk about land mafia, they are the biggest mafia since partion happened to Karachi. Had they be honest and loved Karachi as their own home, and home of future generations, they would have never allowed illegal migerations continued till seventies and eighties from India, and other places. Dictators were also responsible for granting lands as corruption to army who in turn grabbed more lands illegally and sold these lands to land mafias.
You know what the problem is...... , you guys have a myopic obsession towards MQM that makes you ignore everything else..., why arent you able to see the tyranny of those parasite feudal barons that have enslaved & usurp the rights of their impoverished people.., why doesn't it bother you that we get the same old curropt dynasties to rule over us for over 60 years.., why doesn't it bothers you that as a nation we are facing the greatest Ideological & Identity crises where as nation we are unable to come up with a coherent definition of who we are as a nation & what values & ideals we should align ourselves with.
In the presence of such far reaching even in some respect existantial threats to our nation, your concern & focus is uncharacteristically misplaced..., while this may be out of your best intensions or naivity but when the other sides analyzes this selective ignorance they may get a different meaning out of it.
You talk about migrations that happened in the 70s & 80s ... but firstly there was no MQM until 1984.... , secondly there were immigrants but they were not from India they were the stranded Pakistanis living in BanglaDesh..., you are opposed to their right to return yet you conveniently ignore the humongous influx of refugess that came to Karachi during the Afghan War .., that brought with them the AK47s & the drugs...
You even act so naive to blame the transportation problem on MQM..., this just shows how little you know & understand the history of Karachi... , you know where did this unfortunate but seemingly ethinic voilence begin, (I still believe in its root it is not an ethinic conflict but an urban conflict to take control of resources & influence...), while there used to be small squirmishes between different communities settled in various neighborhood it all went to the next level on April 15, 1986 when a young girl named Bushra Zaidi died in an accident as a result of reckless driving by a mini bus driver which in those days were called 'Yellow Devils' the first series of Pathan Muhajir riots in Karachi was a reaction to the anger towards the transportation Mafia ... & ethnicity only came into the equation because the transportation mafia was controlled then as it is today by the Pathans...., so the root of the conflict was what people did rather who people were.
I believe standards of criticism should be uniform.. because if they are not they will never be perceived objectively.
Yesterday I was watching our PM giving railway saloon of Bhutto to be used for tourism. I was shocked to see this while ordinary people in our country can't even buy rail tickets now.
I would have asked PM instead of giving this metal box, he should ask his own son Abdul Gadir Gillani not to be in Government while he is holding an office. There should be a law that if anyone holds a seat/post from one family (chacha, taya, mamoon inclusive), another seat will not be allowed irrespective of party membership. Same with Maulana Fazular Rahman (aka Molana Diesel) and his brother, Raja Pervez Ashraf and his son, Shahbaz Sharif and his son and a number of others.
This is the only way ordinary people can come in mainstream politics and to get rid of dada pota politics.
If you stand outside colleges in Pakistan, lets say out of 20,000 students coming out from 5 selected colleges 3,000 would be talented enough to sevice public better than these politicians. Pakistan has lots of talent going rotten.
I was in Malaysia recently and all boys and girls at immigration were young (24 +/-). Only one white haired boss (supervisor) roaming around, perhaps giving them training.
Now they can hardly run a single bus effectively...
The major cause of this mayhem is transport mafia, owned by policemen and run by Pashtun laborers. If anyone dares to improve transport system then it becomes an ethnic political situation.
This same mafia brought to earth a far better light rail system in Karachi.
When decisions are made based on ethnicity and politics instead of what is good for people as a whole then we end up the current situation.
