Fact of the matter is, this one community somehow is finding itself being left behind because it fails to integrate because of some illperceived sense of religous virtue and the consternation caused by that is causing problems from philippines ot the US. The world ain’t gonna change..so change your thought process and life will get better. Everyone can’t be wrong. Maybe it is the muslim world that needs to take it upon itself to grow up and get with that program, or move aside and stop blaming everyone else for its problems.

Unfortunately this meeting was a very select gathering. You are living in Australia, you have to take their laws and rules seriously, and you take an oath when you become a citizen to do just that. If you are a good Muslim you wouldn’t take your oath lightly in anyway.

However, Howard is an idiot because he has ignored a vast majority of Muslim groups, including the imam who helped in release of Australian hostage in Iraq. And I am very sceptical about his motives to call the meeting, it wasn’t to wedge the rift between communities, it was a half hearted and lame attempt of patriotism and sham for security. Futile and useless at best. He ended up causing offence to a lot of Muslims by not acknowledging their existence. Now if I was in his position and Australian security was the concern then I would do every thing possible to get the message through each and every Muslim in Australia. How he believes he has done that by this pathetic gathering is beyond me. Thus I am sceptical about his intent. I find it pitiful how politicians try to manipulate their own countrymen.

John Howard, the Aussie PM is AMERICA's lapdog. He is just doing this to make Americans happy and i won't be surprised if he takes more serious actions against muslims.

Australia is also passing a law where a suspicious person can be shot at sight without any investigations and lot of muslims are already thinking about leaving Australia for a better country.
After the bombings in USA and UK, almost every Australian is convinced that "WE ARE NEXT" and that's why these new laws are introduced. Even though the PM is just an a$$ licker, majority of Australian public is against war on Iraq.

A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown.

Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state and its laws were made by parliament.

“If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you,” he said on national television.

"I’d be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia, one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that that is false.

“If you can’t agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country which practises it, perhaps, then, that’s a better option,” Costello said.

Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked move to the other country.

Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should “clear off”.

“Basically, people who don’t want to be Australians, and they don’t want to live by Australian values and understand them, well then they can basically clear off,” he said.

LOL, why any sane minded person would want to live among those hot headed bigots is beyond me.

Needless to say, the next time some druggie Aussie is convicted in an Asian country for drug possession, then they better “clear off” and shut the f*ck up.

US does NOT target civilians.

Nor do they CARE if civilians die as a result of military actions…and in fact often it is quite obvious that civilian casualites would be most likely. That’s hardly a moral position and is nothing less than rationalizing the death of civilians.
