can you confirm that people from low hindu casts, such as sweepers, who accepted islam have not remained in the same profession in pakistan.....
Bittujee,
There is no concept of untouchability in Islam, so even former Dalits can eat with other Muslims, go to the mosque and share the hookah with other villagers. Now if they stay in their village, they will be known as Muslim Shaikh, a "caste" of Muslim sweepers. But if they move to Karachi or Lahore, send there kids to school, with in two generation there Chura background will be forgotten, and they will integrated into urban Pakistani society. Most Pakistanis have generic surnames like Ali, Hussain, Iqbal etc, which do denote caste.
Can you tell me if the same would apply to Hindu Dalits in India. I am a Tyagi (with bits of Arab and Pathan as well), and when I met my first Hindu Tyagi, he asked me what my gotra was, and I said whats a gotra. So for urban Pakistanis caste is simply not an issue, and even in villages its in decline.
So I stick with my orignal point, the caste system does not exist in Pakistan.

Agreed :)
But just for the record, its not the caste system per se which is a problem in India - it is the discrimination based on caste system which is the problem. And that discrimnation exists in Pakistan too.
Friends,
Discrimination is prevalent in all societies, be it any, in the form of caste system, racism, regionalism and so on and so forth. So absence of any one of the forms in one society does not mean that there is no discrimination at all. And we should try to decimate it in our respective society. We are again moving away from the topic, please come back and discuss something meaningful.

Jeetiaf,
I didn't say there was no discrimination in Pakistan, but none based on caste.
Quota system is crap, if you are not qualified enough you should NOT get a job. It doesn't matter if you are a Muslim or North Indian. If muslims in India want more jobs then they need to qualify ( There is no doubt that they face discrimination in India but it still doesn't justify to have quota system).
As for Niden and his comments, he thinks Muhajirs are responsible for dstruction of Sindh, Punjabis are responsible for destruction of Pakistan. Bas aik Sindhis becharay masoom, ghareeb, becharay sab k aagay lachaar hain. (no offence to anyone but this is what this guy is all about). He argue with his own countrymen and put his whole country down just to prove that Sindhis are the angels and rest rae all luteray.
In Pakistan, it's not about Sindhis, Punjabis, Muhajir domination. Whana "jis ki laathi us ki bhains" wala chakkar hai. In MOST of Sindh (RURAL SINDH), Sindhi Waderay exploit poor Sindhis more than anyone else and yet people like niden act so holy.
Aagaay apni auqat par. The most retard comments comming from world specialist.
Well u did not anwser my question!! :D
I do not want to indulge into stupid agrument with you lets stick to the topic.
Your comments have nothing to do witht the topic and you cannot speak on behalf of the Muslims and you surely cannot deny what a Muslims in india are feeling and through what hardship they are going.
Though your previous comments were very intelligent. Need a psycholigist for brain thrapy. By the way there is a lots of racism going on in Neatherland, can you talk little about that? Or you don't cosider because you are living in paradise.

Muslims in India are just like any minority in any part of the world. They have issue and a number of times it is related to the fact that they are in a minority. Be it the case of Hispanics and Blacks in US or any minority in Europe.
having said that i would also add that if you take social indicators like health and education .... India fair comparably to other muslism majority countries in the region. So if you are really interested in Muslim affairs, then you should be concentrating your energies on improving the conditions of muslims in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
What however you can make out from these videos is that it is muslims (who are educated) are freely able to express their opinion. Now as far as i am concerned that is a good sign ... what i mean to say is that they don't have to speak from London via a telephone :D

Aam,
This guy Niden, did not know he was a Sindhi Hindu, has hijacked this thread by making vile and racist comments against Urdu-speakers. The point is that some Muslim biradaris** are already on** the Other Backward classes list. As I have already said, the Muslim biradari system is a lot weaker then the Hindu ( I include Sikhs in this category) jati system. Why give quota to one group, and deny it to others.
Whats really funny, is the Hindu section of my caste is now demanding the OBC reservations, despite wearing the janeo and claiming to be Brahmins. So its not just the Muslims, but even supposedly upper caste Hindus are now calling themselves backwards.
The system put up by the Indian constitution is defective, reinforces caste and biradari divisions. What you need is a system that looks at the economic situation of the individual, and caste can be a factor, when considering quota.

Issue of resevation has become a big political issue in India. The benefits are such that even higher castes and religious groups who claim that there is no caste system are vying for it based on their caste !!!
There is an inherent fault in this policy as it has moved away from its original intent. The main reason for reservation for lower castes was because of the way lower casts were treated before independence. Even if they were economically mobile, they did face discrimination and this reservation was precisely made for giving them that level playing field.
I dont agree with reservations based on economic criteria .... what instead the government should do is that they should provide better educational facilites for economically weaker sections be it Muslims , Sikhs or even economically weaker upper cast hindus.
Diluting the reservation for SC/ST is not the answer .... they still need the support which the reservation policy offers.

Also known as “Creamy layer,” this criteria of separation is ignored by the government which is known as the most controversial issue of reservation.
So according to the Mandal commission, there does not seem to be anything that excludes Muslims as a religious group.
I come back to my orignal point, if you give reservation on the basis of jati, then you open a pandora’s box.
