In general, do you feel there is an increasing polarization of muslim youth - either they’re becoming increasingly hard line Wahabbi extremists or they’re drifting away from religion.
I just don’t see many middle ground youth anymore.

Re: Muslim Youth
I thought that as soon as I saw your thread title, PCG.. It definitely does seem as though many are becoming more polarised (and less tolerant imo).. it’s quite depressing..
Re: Muslim Youth
Really? Where I live, most are pretty balanced and actually if there is an extreme, it’s toward drifting away.
Re: Muslim Youth
There are a ton of well-balanced youth out there. Its just they dont catch our attention. We desis, being judgmental, tend to spot an eye on those who make more hullabaloo
Re: Muslim Youth
I’m one of the middle ground youth. The people I know are too. These people probably often go unnoticed because they’re not bringing attention on themselves by either being too extreme or by drifting away.
Re: Muslim Youth
I’d consider myself a well balanced youth (23 is still youth, right? lol) Everyone around me is quite balanced too. You gotta broaden where you’re lookin ![]()
Re: Muslim Youth
Where I live, some masajid have a very well balanced youth group. Recently, I attended an event..we went to an indoors trampoline gym-type-thing, and we jumped around, played dodge ball and basketball. We segregated the youth so girls played with girls and guys played with guys (guys throw hard!) It was a ton of fun. Afterwards, we all carpooled to masjid for namaz, a mini halaqa and pizza! The youth enjoyed it, they learned about Islam and inshaAllah the brother/sisterhood will flourish in the coming years.
In the UK, I’ve seen some youth are becoming hardcore salafi. And they’re being taught to not to mingle with other groups such as wahabi, sufi, etc. What are your views on this?
Re: Muslim Youth
keep digging, just when I think you can’t top your previous stuff
Re: Muslim Youth
This is very interesting question. Hardcore salafis don’t interact with people much. I have known someone very close. I am not saying, they are bad people..it is just that..their views are very extreme i think.
Re: Muslim Youth
^Extremely extreme! I also have someone very close who had gone that route only to realize he was being very harsh in a lot of views…to the point he started speaking against Pakistanis, while being Pakistani himself! He has calmed down quite a bit, Alhamdulillah. Knowledge is one thing…wisdom is another…
oops…think I went off topic a bit there.
May Allah guide us all, Ameen.
Re: Muslim Youth
22.97 is cut off for youth. Sorry.
Absolutely, some of "yoof " around the green lane masjid here in the UK refuse to say Salam to you if your pants are lower than your ankles or a sufi..
Re: Muslim Youth
Depends where you are tbh. I live in a major city in the UK so there’s less hardcore or extremist Muslims. However, there is a town near my city made up of mostly extremist/hardcore “super-Muslims”. - this is actually what some of them refer to themselves as.

Why sir, are you one? ![]()
Re: Muslim Youth
Bhairyas are far from balanced !
Re: Muslim Youth
Ameen. I do not think..you are off topic though.
Re: Muslim Youth
I’ve noticed this as well actually. I’m wondering why though? What exactly is making these Muslim youth such hardcore salafi? Where are they getting their info from? I don’t think its from the mosques is it? My sister in law, since she started university two years ago, has actually started showing quite a change in thinking. All of her friends are salafi or wahabi. And their thoughts and ideas have really had an impact on her thinking as well. I can’t really discuss any Islamic issues with her at all now without it ending badly. Another thing I’ve noticed is a lot of people really starting to follow Farhat Hashmi. Is that something anyone else has noticed?
Re: Muslim Youth
Is Farhat Hashmi a nerd?
Re: Muslim Youth
To be honest i wouldn’t call them extreme as they are not following the religion correctly so technically they are not religious muslim. Extreme muslims should be the ones following the religion like the prophet was* so following the religion in the correct way.*
