I’m not making a joke out of anything. I don’t think any of this is a joke. Those idiots do one h*ll of a lot more than **“use religion.” ** You may refuse to look at it for what it is but those idiots are highjacking your religion and if you let them do it, they will be all that is left of Islam. Al Zarqawi and OBL are not recruiting christian and jewish children to be part of al qaeda. They are recruiting Muslims. And the recruitment mechanisms involve religious instruction and convincing the recruits that it is their religious duty to kill civilians. While you may claim that these idiots are not Islamic, they, on the other hand, teach that those who oppose them (Muslim and non-Muslim alike) are the infidels and kaffirs. They are the ones who make appeals to the Islamic ummah and khalifa. They are the ones appealing for imposition of Islamic law. According to them, they are the true representatives of Islam.
The question is, who is going to win…you or them. Don’t fight or argue with me. Fight and argue with them. I’m no threat to your rreligion as you see it. They are.
She never added any conditions to her condemnation. Show me where the condition was.
""I agree with maddy and Kaleem. As Muslims we are against taking lives of innocents. We are against such horrific killings.
**However, there is always something that sets them off. **"
Your flaw is in assuming the “however” clause is conditional, which it is not. It would be conditional only if she said “We should be such horrific killings if there was not something that sets them off.”
Instead, she makes a condemnation with no strings attached, and then merely draws attention to the wider context of the situation.
I am well aware of the fact that they do more than “use religion” . But they kill innocent people in the name of religion. They are using Muslims, young kids even - to carry out their horrible plans.
But Im not taking their side. I do know they are taking over a religion of peace, and turning it into something ugly in the eyes of the world.
I am arguing and fighting against them. Not with you. My only issue with you or rather people like you is that you believe people who dont even follow Islam as it is meant to be followed. You and such others fall for their distorted version of it.
Connie
matsui – for the last time. Give your attentions to those who want it. I mean really.
Funny isn't it. So many interpretations, everyone things they know islam. Yes, do go ahead and enlighten the guys who are blowing up mosques in Karachi, that you know islam better than them. Please do something... :)
Great. It sounded like you were arguing and fighting with me. Contrary to what you write, I have consistently recognized, at least, two different versions of Islam that are being practiced in this world. I know of the Islam that is a “religion of peace.” Unfortunately, you want me to see ** only ** that form of Islam. IMO, that would be having a distorted and quite dangerous view of the world. I hope your form of Islam wins in the religious civil war you are fighting. Sadly, your side is losing the PR battle to your fundamentalist foes and your side seems ill-prepared to take the steps necessary to remove the cancer that is growing bigger by the day. The other side will stop at nothing to win. Your side seems unwilling to start at anything to win.
That is because you and I don't see eye to eye on good literature anymore. I am currently in the middle of 1776 and The Traveler. Both are quite good. Plus the April 11th issue of the New Yorker had another gem by David Sedaris, something about his trip to the Zoo in Sydney and how his boyfriend always walk ahead of him and seems to blend in with the crowd. funny stuff. do read. I finally got my hands on the issue.
Im ploughing my way through “underground” by don something or other. And have just finished a series of short stories by a russian writter - collection is called “lady with lapdog”- latter was good, richly written so slightly too much to digest all in one sitting, but you may congratulate me for doing so.
Next on my hit list are snow and the bee keeper by maxene femme. Ive been after her for 2 years now.
Tell me how they go, I need new victims. Read opedus whatever, im not a fan of text like that, but ill give it a shot if someone pursuades me.
No, I wasnt arguing with you. You are right though. I agree. There are always two sides. Or more. But I think it is wrong to say that the rest of us Muslims arent doing anything to voice what we think of such actions. We are, but not too many people are keen on listening. I believe we should all voice what we believe, but in the end isnt it true that it is up to people what they want to believe?
Just look at this thread. You’re the only person who is interacting with me in a civil manner- from the opposition. Others can do nothing but degrade. We have this example right here. People will believe what filth they want, regardless of what truth is hitting then in the face.
I hate russian authors. A little to uber cerebral for their own good. I guess years of stark gray surroundings can cause even a guy from aruba to write about nothing but disappointments in life.
Read Caleb Carr if you ever get a chance. Wrote a couple of books in the late 1990's. The Alienist was quite good.
I agree that it would be wrong to say that “the rest of us Muslims aren’t doing anything to voice what we think of such actions.” For instance, a good many Muslims in Gupshup voiced their disgust for what happened in London. They didn’t say it would only be wrong if the bombings were done by non-Muslims.
Some of the “rest of you” are doing “something.” Some are doing more than others, some are doing less. Within what might be called the “Muslim World,” I would certainly argue that the “something” that is being done is far too little. If the London bombers turn out to be confirmed as Muslim terrorists, I’d like to see al Jazeera put a few imams and clerics on the air to say how un-Islamic this bombing was. How totally anti-Islamic it is to kill innocent people under any and all cricumstances. I’d like Al Jazeera to show pictures of the bloody corpses and the crying mothers and fathers. And I’d like them to do this without having some idiot get equal time to lay out all the offenses of western countries that are the root causes of the bombers behaving as they do. I’d like to see some clerics call for their congregation to take to the streets in protest of the bombings by people claiming to be Muslim. What will it take to get the same kind of emotional commitment to protest as we saw when a Quran supposedly got flushed?
What i wanna know, is why was'nt there this big an uproar when the exact same thing was happening in Iraq and in the various US administered prisons.
I clearly remember Matsui saying, "Lets make faloodah out of Fallujah". Well guess who became Faloodah today?
Not tryna advocate what happened today, but why such double standards. Were the lives of the 40 odd people who died today, more precious than the thousands who died in the Middle East. A murder in Baghdad is equal to a murder in London, whats wrong is wrong..period.
