Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

What's this about the Hijrah? Are you saying muslims shouldn't live in non-muslim dominated countries?

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Shouldn’t this be merged with the other thread? :hoonh:

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

You know, that's what I'm saying. What's up with opening up 2 threads on the SAME topic, opened up by the same person?

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

here is TA’s kirklees council website: http://www2.kirklees.gov.uk/employment/recruitment/(t11i0tjc5q44ox45kij2unjk)/jobs/jobdetails.aspx?vID=-569&l=0
The word SUPPORTING is used not “Teaching” as TA’s teaching is almost illegal stuff in a school, so they are not allowed to use word TEACHING for their services, if you register on it you can see more detail of her job description.
This TA does not seem sensible enough!

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Just curious, if she is particular about following view of 'veil', what about view of 'working with na-mehrams'?

Re: Minister says veil teacher should be sacked

My wife is a teacher and we used to commute together, I used to drop her off and pick her up from her school since my office was just a few blocks away. I saw her colleagues, teaching in a public school here in US and the dress code is very lax in schools. This was an elementary school and teachers in tanktops and shorts were not unusual. That is just one example there were other things such as see thru shirts and skimpy tops ip hugger pants that showed the tramp stamp etc.

As I have stated before, I am not a niqab supporter, but if she sees it as important, and there are no rules about it than she is being unfairly singled out. The ppl in question should make some policy and get it over with, until that happens she has a right to do what she is doing, whether we find it logical or whether we feel that it is not required by religion and she is going overboard.

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Saw Aishah Azmi on BBC, pleading her case in a press conference. As the story was concluding, the camera panned to a gaggle of niqaabi women walking the street. Maybe it's the association with the Irani women in the news reports & middle-east violence or just the novelty of these women clad in black from head to toe, I felt uneasy. These women look scary to already fearful westerners.

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

y r they scary? r they doing anything? This is just unfounded paranoia. What will them wearing certain type of clothes in a free country going to do!?!

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Luxxxy you might not want to so freely admit that the image of a college-going girl or lil old lady scares you :cb:

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

covered from head to toe in black, yes they do.

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

I guess they’ll be surprised to know they can scare a full grown man :phati:

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

I just wanna ask 1 question???
Why nuns wear dresses and veils and not marry and not accused of anything why? they are respected and muslim women who try to wear veil ,its racial, religious discrimination and I AM PROUD THAT I WEAR VEIL AND I DON’T CARE :naraz:

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

All is not lost, I do wonder what they look like etc, you know… like a wrapped chocolate.

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Azmi acknowledged that she had not worn her veil during an interview for the job, assisting children who speak English as a second language.
An employment tribunal awarded her $1,870 for injury to her feelings following her victimization at the school. However the tribunal panel rejected allegations she had been subjected to direct and indirect discrimination and harassment.
Azmi, wearing a black veil, said at a news conference in Leeds, northern England, that she would appeal against the decision to reject her claims of discrimination and harassment.
"Muslim women who wear the veil are not aliens, and politicians need to recognize that what they say can have a very dangerous impact on the lives of the minorities they treat as outcasts," Azmi said. "Integration requires people like me to be in the workplace so that people can see that we are not to be feared or mistrusted."

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Thanks God she won the case

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

£1100 is just nothing, She has not won completely, is going to appeal in “European Court of Justice”

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

nuns wear hair coverings, like hijab. they do not wear niqaab. like i said, i don’t think hijab is at issue here.

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

Here's something I don't get. She wants integration according to that comment, but she wears a Niqab to segregate herself.

Re: Muslim Teacher Suspended For Wearing Veil

integration is not the same as assimilation.
