Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

this is BS .....

I can name , hundreds of Sindhis , Punjabis , Balochs , or Pashtoons .... ...writing in Urdu ...for the promotion of Urdu..

and so far have failed to find one single Urdu speaker who has written anything of note or not in any of the above mentioned languages...
..so it seems its the other way round....

though this may appear hard....But frankly Urdu is/was not the language of this region .... Period.

Can you write all the hundreds of names here? :D Btw, Urdu is a language of Punjab so deal with it. If Sikhs couldn't change that fact then no one else can.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

BBC offices shut down in Karachi because of threats from Muhajir Qatil Mafia. MQM calling for army is just an eyewash. They are trying hard to present themselves as the victims, when everyone knows if is the MQM that is the root cause of major terrorism in Karachi.
Daily Times - Leading News Resource of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The office of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in Karachi has been closed down after it received threats from an ethnic political party in the city, sources said on Monday.

Since the last eight to nine days the staff members of the BBC instead of working in the office have confined themselves to their houses and are working from there, sources further said. South Karachi DIG Ammer Sheikh has visited the BBC office to look into the matter. Sources further said the threats may be a reaction to the documentary on MQM chief Altaf Hussain broadcast by the BBC. The documentary sparked an unprecedented response from the MQM which termed it fake and Taliban-sponsored propaganda. Meanwhile, various journalist bodies have expressed their concern over the closure of the BBC office.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

Whatever anyone says or you think ... fact remains that MQM represents overwhelming majority of People in Karachi ... and they have all right to do what they want in Karachi.

If they are problem of Karachi (as some daydreamers might be dreaming) then it would be people of Karachi (in majority) who would decide that ... not someone from outside Karachi ... it is just like people of Pakistan decide what Pakistan should do or how Pakistan should be run, not people of other countries.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

I can’t understand the biases and nepotism people have on this forum. MQM got 85 percent of Assembly seats and got around 75 percent of cast votes. Such overwhelming majority even PMLN did not get in Punjab or PPP in interior Sindh. No doubt that even with such majority, Karachi with population of around 20 million one would have people opposing MQM, but that is true everywhere in democracy that a minority is always opposing majority.

So, why people get so upset when one talks about letting MQM have administrative, policing, and governmental power in Karachi.

What is happening is that those who do not represent Karachi or represent with their 5 to 10 percent mandate (for instance PPP) rule Karachi and think it is their right and then do everything to make trouble for majority of people living in Karachi and bring policies to exploit Karachi. It is just like after last election results PPP is given right to administer, police and rule Punjab or PMLQ is given right to administer, police and rule KPK.

I think as long as people’s mandate would not get accepted, Karachi would not see any peace. Worse is that, since MQM is getting mandate in Karachi years after years and by one way or another they are getting deprived of governmental power in Karachi, time is not far when such situation would backfire and if that would happen, it would not be good for anyone. … then people would cry about loyalty towards Pakistan … but it is not loyalty towards Pakistan that to be loyal one should stay unrepresented and exploited.

Think who should rule, administer, police and govern Karachi:

Result of Karachi by-election with army inside and outside the polling station and also in control of ballet papers and boxes … as demanded by PTI and other day-dreamer political parties, who do not get tired doing propaganda that MQM wins Karachi seats due to rigging, and wet-dreaming that under army they would win seats:

PS 95 Karachi 7:
Untitled Page

MQM: 43303 votes (91 percent of cast votes)
PPP: 1934
JI: 885
PMLN: 711

PS 103 Karachi 15
Untitled Page
MQM: 24084 (78 percent of cast votes)
TI: 4124
PPP: 2664

NA 254 (Karachi 16)
Untitled Page

MQM: 53045 (84 percent of cast votes)
TI: 5855
PMLN: 2533
PPP: 870

Above is result of by-election (with PEC website as reference) … and similar results were seen in general election too … so no big deal that MQM won seats in Karachi hands down.

Overall … MQM got:
17 out of 20 NA Karachi seats

33 out of 41 PA Karachi seats

And MQ got over 75 % of cast votes from Karachi … that includes votes of Muhajir, Sindhi, Pakhtun, Baloch and Punjabis living in Karachi.

So, it is obvious that only party that can bring peace in Karachi is MQM that has people supporting them on ground at most places in Karachi, and thus should have administer, policing and governing control of Karachi so that they can bring peace in Karachi

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

Karachi is a melting pot. Everyone has migrated from somewhere or the other. MQM is not the only representative of the city. They are asking for the army to come in, but they will be the ones crying out the loudest when army launches operations in azizabad and arrests MQM thugs. Their concept of an operation is wiping everyone but MQM off the map, and thats not how it works.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

^^^
hmm ... actually, all Pakistan is a melting pot since thousand of years, and all over Pakistan people migrated from one place to another ... so what?

MQM is the sole representative of Karachi majorities ... that include people living in Karachi wherever they migrated from.

Unfortunately, some people like to make Karachi their colony and use administrative power, judiciary, army, police and rangers to do that (as they were doing with East Pakistan and are doing with Baluchistan) without realizing that if it would back fire than there would be no Karachi to colonize.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

They provoked PPP and ANP to form their own militant wings, so that they’d have the opportunity to portray that the law and order problem in Karachi is ‘due to others’.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

Do you really think that if MQM lose their restraints and decides to wipe out PPP and ANP militants from Karachi, they could not do that?

Fact is that, MQM is tolerating these thugs and keeping their own hands tied, so that harmony in city between people stays (as much as it is possible) ... else it would be same people who talk against MQM would start talking about MQM brutalities with all their exaggerations.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

MQM is the biggest party in the city but still there is a big population of the city who don't follow them. There is smoke where there is fire.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

Nahi ... being serious, FG should look after federal problems, like foreign affairs, trade, currency, defence, etc.

PG should look after coordination between different areas within Province and coordinating province with FG.

but it is local government that should look after the affairs of people in their area, be that policing, finance, administration, administration and government, as they are on ground and have link with people and know the needs of people.

Obviously, harmony in country would happen when people feel they rule themselves, not get ruled by others as colonial slaves.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

At least the votes polled have come down, otherwise MQM is so popular that its candidates polls around 2 lac votes and the next contestant has around a thousand.

Re: MQM demands Karachi to be handed over to the Army

And at least they have learnt not to come up with round numbers.(95,000, 80,000)....At least they have figured out that thats' a dead give away
