The number plate alone is probably in millions. I remember reading about this one dude from Abu Dhabi who was ready to pay about $15-20 million for this number plate (1). I am not sure if he is the one who bought it.

You can only imagine the ego of the person! Its one thing to plop down close to $2 million for a car, which will likely never be driven to its full potential, but is only bought for the name, and then to spend more millions to get a cherished license plate number...

Paying obscene amounts of money for license plate numbers is something I never fully understood. I think Americans (and most other countries) have figured this one out perfectly fine. Allow custom plates at a fractionally higher cost, and let people go creative in what their license plate should say. For $50/yr you can have your license plate say pretty much anything that is not already taken.

Anyway, this is just an ego trip for the owner. May he/she be happy in his/her life.

Yeah looks like it. I read it's called the Mall of Emirates and it's the happening place there.

Yes. This is the Mall of the Emirates. I'm there every other day and come across quite a lot crazy dudes like this one over there.

2007 Abu Dhabi Number Plate 1 was auctioned in a bid in Emirates place for 52.2 Million Dirhams around 10 million Euros

in 2006 Abu Dhabi Number Plate 5 was also auctioned at same venue for 25 million Dirhams

I was there (just for fun :P) for the number plate 1 bidding.

Faisal well we actually dont know for a fact how good teh driver is and what potential the car will be driven to. I dont think majority of cars are driven to their potential anyways.

and as far as license plates go, in places in US there is still a market for license plates which are classic or lower number. I am not sure if it is still going on but in delaware just a few years ago there was a hot market to get license plates with low numbers..getting a 2 digit was almost impossible and ppl were tryign to go for teh lower 3 digit ones. illonois, DC, rhode island and massachsets have thtat as well.

updated- just checked and looks like teh low digit tag market is still going. nothing like this guy paid..but its there

Yes yes yes! I have been driving that car in dubai but not with that number plate :D.....You feel like sitting in a plane and believe that sooner or later you will take off.

Ugly car?! Maybe the color combination is not the best, but this car in black, blue-violet or black and maroon. Rocks!

Lusi, this is a sport car with lots of lots of horse power. And dont worry you fit in easily. Coz there is enough space in the front for driver and co-driver.
