moon dikhai/wedding night present

Re: moon dikhai

This is the time...ask for whatever u want! Baad mein nai milega lol

Re: moon dikhai

^hahahah, i know, right! no.. jk.. i have a wonderful hubby who doesn't say no to anything.

Re: moon dikhai

i got swarovski earrings..

i didnt give anything. mu dikhai larkio ki hothi hain.. not the grooms!

shay.. if i were u.. i would say 'surprise me'.. for me its the thought that counts.. my husband always asks me what i want for bdays and anniversaries and eidi.. i never tell him.. and he always manages to get the perfect thing.. let them think for themselves.. its so worth it

after a few gifts you will get an idea of what kinda taste ure man has.. if its horrific and u hate the things he gives you, THEN maybe u can help him along.. verna let him go about it on his own.. its a great way of finding out his taste ;)

i didn't get anything because he didn't know about it :( i was too shy to tell him myself about it before we got married. it kind of felt strange, too.

Re: moon dikhai

yeah, moon dikhai is for girls, not guys. I got a lovely ruby set which i absolutely love. I didn’t give him anything though :aq:

I dont know wut he's going to get me as of yet since we arent married yet but he knows about the tradition and said it was goign to be a surprise which i'd rather let it be a surprise...but as for me even though i know grls really dont give the guy anything but i want to so i am planning on buying a big flat screen tv with all the surround sound stuff or wutever its called bc hes into all tht stuff so im going to surprise him with tht...its a bit pricey but totally worth it bc not only will he enjoy it but i will too...but thts the plan!! hope i dont get him a better gift than wut hes gets me :p!!! hehehe....jk...i really dont care about stuff like tht its the thought tht counts!!

Re: moon dikhai

what is this "moon dikhai"? :s

Re: moon dikhai

lol - shay!

moo dhikhai is for "newborns". That's the one I know.

I'm just wondering - if the guys come to see the girl for the first time - and that's called moo dikhai - then I would be worried about what gift to get or receive... LOL what if the moo dikhai doesn't gel well and there is a rejection to be followed? I would not like to keep the gift nor give a gift...

I'm just taking this humorously... I'm sure someone "serious" might be seriously replying soon. lol

Re: moon dikhai

moon dikhai is from wut i know is the 1st time the hubby and wife see each other right after their wedding reception and are alone at home or where ever they stay for the night the husband presents his wife with a gift. some grls (usually a tradition in my family) dont see the guy for month(s) before the wedding until the wedding day and i think its somehow realted to "moon dakhi" rasam...this is all i know about this but then again i can be wrong!!

Re: moon dikhai

^awwwwwwww that is the most sweetest thing I ever heard!

After 10 years of marriage I'm gonna hafta tell my hubby to give me MY GIFT! LOL

^ that's exactly it Rshiekh...

I got a really pretty gold bangle and I got him a ring since we never really got a proper engagement ceremony done.

Re: moon dikhai

My husband didnt even know of this tradition and no one mentioned it to him beforehand, so he didnt get me any jewelry for moon dikhai! But he did write me such a lovely poem/letter that he gave me that night, it was really cute he dyed the paper and burnt the edges to make it look all faded and really old, and rolled it up like a scroll, it made me cry when I read it, was so sweet. So I guess that was my moon dikhai :)

Ya..maybe it also has to do with that tradition they had when the bride and groom sit under a dupatta and then they put a mirror and they see each other for the first time through the mirror?

Re: moon dikhai

I think it's for the first time alone.. as husband and wife.. something to do with first wedding night too I am assuming.

Or maybe just to break the ice in arranged marriages.. after all, women get happy instantly with presents :D

LOL...Nice one :D

Re: moon dikhai

didnt get anything:(

Re: moon dikhai

of those of you who didn't get anything...go get it now...as its never too late .. :P

aww... sounds really cute! May Allah bless u. Again its the thot that counts not the present.. Tho im planning to get something for my hubby to b InshAllah.. im not sure if he's aware of the rasm...
