Re: wedding gift

i didn't know the groom is supposed to give the bride a gift? what if he doesn't know and the bride does and doesn't get anything-won't that cause upset? what if the groom is kanjoos and decides he need not give her anything? what does the bride give to the groom?

and what is the point of all this? where does it come from?

Lol that’s not what I meant
But its usually the groom giving the bride something, no?

I dont know where it comes from or anything, but I dont think the bride should be upset if her husband didnt know to get her anything, or even if he knew and didnt get it. Its just a rasm and no one should force anyone to follow a rasm if they dont want to. The gift is supposed to nurture love between the couple, but it isnt a "right" of the bride. The mahr is the right of the bride. If he refuses to give her that, then it makes sense for her to be upset. But I think its really silly if a bride is upset because he didnt get her a mu dikhaai gift and if she does get upset, then she is only ruining her own wedding night and is not starting off her marriage on the right foot!

Re: wedding gift

i got a gorgeous chain n flower pendant with matching ring and earrings it was gold

I think it is just a gesture to praise the bride, like all in-laws gave her some sort of gifts so the hubby give a gift according to his pocket range to welcome her in his life. May be some bride give some gift to huuby but it is uncommon, may be due to she feels shy to be frank with her hubby.

does the girl have to give the husband something too? or is just a one way thing :D

^ as far as i know, it's just a one way thing but of course the wife is always welcome to give a present to her husband.

Re: wedding gift

Re: moon dikhai

My husband keeps asking me what I want ever since his family mentioned this tradition to him. He’s very clueless when it comes to women’s gifts so he expects me to tell him what I want. I have no clue :bummer:
