Re: Moms 2012- 2013

I like this idea!! Much better than just posting random stuff about food and cravings

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

then select some topic quick. Yours being the second time, you might know the basic concerns. We will collect and exchange ideas and suggestions and then move on to the next topic anytime it comes.

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

I think first time mommies often stress about getting everything done in time for baby's arrival.
When I was pregnant with my first I was rushing to buy her all these clothes, toys and accessories. Just remember to slow down. If it's your first take some time out for yourself. Read a book, go to the spa, let the nursery be!! Have some me time, cause God knows you won't be getting any time for yourself for months and months after baby is born. :D
Baby is not going to wear all those dresses, baby will probably be wearing onezies and rompers the first few months. Don't buy so many clothes, you'll be getting a lot from friends and family too!!
Stock up on diapers!! When ever there's a sale I stocked up and I saved so much money. I have started stocking up for this baby too.

Just relax!!

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Having some me time sounds so important, Wendy. And this is the area where only an experienced one could suggest better. Reading books? hmm. Would you suggest some books which helped. Eerr its better if they could be found online.

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Baby books? I loved "The happiest baby on the block" but anything you want to know can be found online.
It's just so easy for new moms to be concerned about everything ... don't stress!!! You'll learn as you go. Everything will be a new learning experience.
Reading up on things and educating yourself is very important though! BUT every baby is different.

And one more thing. If you feel depressed do not ignore it. New moms usually get something called the baby blues. It will last around 2 weeks after your baby is born. That is normal! But if your depression lasts longer tell your doctor. PPD so common these days ..

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Acha I always thought I wouldnt be falling into PPD. Depression during pregnancy was already enough :bummer:

How about the diet plan. Do you think preggers’ one should be different from the ordinary healthy diet plan? What was it like during your first, and how is it now? were you given any particular suggestions from the doctor or the family/ acquaintances?

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

the diet chart given to me was all the proteins, carbs, vitamins portions....i mean how much portions u have to take each day so i created my own diet plan according to it.....i will post if u want it....
i didnt throw up not even once when i was pregnant as well as after delivery....
second thing is IF u choose to breastfeed your baby....your diet plan should be the same as that wen u were pregnant....so its been six months that my baby was born n m following the same diet plan n it really works Alhumdulilah! :)

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

I thought so too. But I had PDD for almost 2 months ..

Eat healthy!!! I can't stress this enough. With my first I was 110lbs to start with. I lost some weight within the first 2 months of pregnancy due to all the vomiting. But then!!! I started eating. I was craving very unhealthy things .. like cake and greasy foods. I gained VERY quickly. I think there was a time in which I gained 11lbs in just 2 weeks ... my doctor couldn't believe it.
So stick to healthy food. This time I've been trying to stay healthier ... so far I feel better than I did with my first.
You only need to consume around 250 extra calories for the baby. So don't stuff yourself with food.
Walk a lot and do some light exercise like yoga.

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

i have gone through severe babyblues or PPD i guess.....coz i was all alone taking care of baby as well as doing house chores....i used to cry alot...but Alhumdulilah when my mil came after 9weeks of my baby's birth i was so relaxed....
so do take help from others.....as much as you can.....

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

It was actually the opposite for me lol. I felt much better once inlaws left. Not that they weren't helpful .. my MIL did everything around the house .. cooking and cleaning. But I was so stressed all the time. I felt like I couldn't do what I wanted to freely and that everyone was judging me. I forgot to give myself a break. I used to cry all the time. For no reason at all. I think my inlaws didn't get it .. and they felt like I wasn't happy having them there. That made me even more depressed.

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Do post that sure. This is why we started this topic sorta thing basically, to be benefited from the advice and suggestions :k:

^ :cb:

so whats your definition of eating healthy? how do you maintain your routine of eating healthy? :khumar:

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Put that popcorn down missy :emmy:

Eat a lot of vegetables and fruits. Stay away from fried stuff, I know that’s hard in Ramadan .. but try!!!
I love chicken salads, they’re filling and yummy

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Ugh cant eat vegetables I dont know why. trying to filling up my diet with fruits and milk somehow :vivo:

I loved to drink milk but I can't drink it anymore. Even if I drink a sip of milk I feel tired... Noo not tired but really excausted!!! I can't eat or drink anything I like as rice, yoghurt, cheese, milkshake, bread etc etc. I'm so tired of filling my tummy with fruit... Today I've started to drink hot doodh patti with saunf..... That's not " baadi" and I can't have "baadi" food now because I've thyriod problems. But it's good for all pregnant ladies to avoid "baadi" food... Try to use garlic and ginger in your salans/ rice..

Re: Moms 2012- 2013

Awww take it easy hon :hugz:
You have entered your second trimester I guess, and fatigue is now only normal, and it will just increase. So dont feel bad about it. The same goes with me about diet. But I dont feel tired of fruits. Maybe because I have them in smaller quantity. Like an apple once, a banana or two another time. A guava at another. Or a small bowl of fruit chat. See if it helps you :flower1:
