Are you completely shameless? You admit in part of your post that ‘the truth’ is not known to the world but at the same time you keep calling him foul names without knowing the reality behind this negative media hype? Are you an indian by any chance?
For the rest of you who’ve been following this case and those who are aware of the typical attitude of the ‘UAE’ local people (men & women), know how these people take it if a citizen of a relatively ‘poor’ (economy wise) country suffers ANY KIND OF discrimination by these people and at the same time, dares to speak out for his/her right while they are on UAE land. Anyone who finds himself in such a messy situation can undoubtfully expect to be put in all sorts of life / career ruining situation by these local people as per their own ‘criminal creativity’ techniques.
The (unofficial yet) truth of the incident is that this guy got in some sort of argument with some official at the airport. Not being ‘familiar’ with the local peoples’ mentality and discriminatory attitude towards the citizens of other (slithgly less previlaged) countries, Asif tried to speak out against whatever discriminatory attitude he suffered at the airport, only to be thrown in prison and being charged with drug possession so that he can spend 4 years of his life in prison as a punishment for questioning the bad attitude of a local airport official.
This ‘creativity’ of the local people which is for the sole purpose of destroying the life / career of those who dare to question them does not stop at this. It varies and has many forms.
Asif’s case reminds me of the incident of that Egyptian girl my friend told me about who was working at a clinic in Abu Dhabi. Being a smart, intelligent and hard working staff with a promised successful career, she was not much liked by a ‘fellow local arab female’ who was her senior. The jealousy factor and the fact that she somehow ended up in an argument with her, she was deported with a life time ban as false medical reports were ‘somehow’ submitted to the immigration about her that she suffered from hepatitis. Before being deported, she was locked up in abu dhabi prison for several months with chains on her hands and feet just as a ‘punishment’ to argue with a local woman.
These things are a norm in that part of the world. I still think that Asif is lucky to have Pakistan govt. support to get out of there in 20 days and it was made clear that the charges were baseless. But there are numerous people in UAE jails serving terms for baseless charges against them. 90% of the cases because some local got after them for one or the other reason. There is no hope for them. Guess serves them for wanting to make a living in a ‘muslim’ country. Suffer the ‘muslim’ attitude too baby.
And this is off topic but did anyone know that majority of AIDS patients are (secretly) injected poison in UAE hospitals while they’re there waiting to be deported? Came to know from a very reliable source.
