Oh those look good.

I dunno why everyone keeps on talking abt Tahoora. Besides the shipping part I dun really like Tahoora at all. Their food tastes too Indianish & on top of that their staff treats women in a very weird way. As if women r some pathetic piece of **** (mind my language there)

Although King Sweet needs renovation. Their mithai rocks.

Ambala closed because they were not able to manage the store. They basically opened their store in the wrong part of Devon. Couldn’t cover up the costs & decided to close.

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

Tahoora.. and when ever i go to devon, i bring some mithai from that dukaan.. i love the habshi halwa from tahoora :yummy:

i beg to differ...i am a woman and my mother and i have been going there for years. they are nice and respectful, especially the uncle i think that owns the place, and i would recommend anyone going to them.

we never go on the weekends so we always miss out on puri :(

but i loooooooove their samosa chaat and mango kulfi is yummy :)

i had ordered some mithai from tahoora for the 2 master W's and us here for eid. today a lady called to confirm the addresses for the boys as they are dorms. she was very sweet about and i appreciated that they are trying there best to get the sweets to the right place. unfortunately, i doubt it will get to the boys by 2morrow for eid. now i hope it is good and gets there fine.

It is Indian, if I am not mistaken?

Spock. Yes the store is Indian based. Owners r Bengalis & Indians.

714 try going there alone sometime. Without anyone. U'll feel a huge difference in their attitude. I understand that the owners r a bit religious which is actually very good thing & have advised their staff to not get all flirtatious & smiley face with the ladies. Which again I respect but.... just go alone one day & u'll know what I m talking abt.

Tahoora used to be good back in the old days. Now I dunno. But again I shouldn't be complaining. At least I m lucky enough to live in Chicago & get fresh mithai whenever I went.

P.S not from Tahoora though.

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

i am ordering those :D thank you guys :D

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

I was at tahoora this past weekend and had halwa puri. It was yummilicious as always. But for mithai and samosay, i always go to king sweets across the street.

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

You sweet tooth people , what about Sabri and student. Cant we talk about Biryani and Nihari here :frowning:

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

well no one liked the mithai from tahoora in weasel family, it did not taste like munsalwa despite the unreasonable shipping charges. gulab jamun were rubbery, jalaybi stale and tasteless. barfi wasnt great either. i was looking up shaheen sweets online but couldnt find it. isnt that the brand usually found in desi grocery store.

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

Mrs Weasel when you are in Chicago next time, try mithai from king Sweets. They have great pakistani style mithai if you are into it.

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

for me the shipping charges were nominal but the barfi wasnt all that good... the black gulab jamans were awesome though.

You know when I was in detroit, an indian grocery store used yo carry their Jalebi. I really liked it, in spite of being not fresh fresh, it was always crunchy and tasty and bright orange in color

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?

Thats the grato style jalebi, i agree, it tastes much better than the regular one! u gotta try the fresh version, its awesome! TLK what was the name of that place and where is it located?

Re: mithai shops in Devon, Chicago?
