Michigan

looks really beautiful on the net…is it really that nice?

anyway…

I am looking to travel to Michigan in mid april…inshAllah.

I have been there once before but nvr really had the opportunity to explore the hot spots. I plan on doing so this time around. But I am there for only a weekend.

Which area is the best? where should I stay? what places should I see?

Anyone familiar with Dearborn? can you give me some store names for modest Islamic clothing (i have to make some purchases for a friend)…much appreciated.

last but not least…is there anyone here (other then spock) who is from Michigan?

Re: Michigan

We were from Mich :salute:

Dearborn has manyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Islamic clothing shops. Don’t know names but you could look up online. They also have good places to eat. Make sure you go to Shateela bakery. That’s awesome.

If you’ll be in the Dearborn area, go to Fairlane Mall.

Other than that, there’s not much in the Detroit Metro, nothing new or unique. If you were going up north then there’s beautiful stuff, but I don’t think you’ll have the time.

I order Shatila online… :yummy:

I tried googling to find out about some stores in dearborn came up with nothing. maybe i need to refine my googling skills :hehe:

What’s up north? I wont be in dearborn the entire time…just a quick stop…half a day perhaps and nothing more.

what cities are part of the detroit metro area?

niksik…u and TLK need to move back to michigan for the month of april

Re: Michigan

In Dearborn, if you drive East/West on Warren avenue, you will find many Islamic clothing stores on both sides.

For he restaurants, let us know in which general area you would be staying. We did not live in Dearborn but I worked in that area for few years so I can tell you some names ..

Re: Michigan

Only if we get to meet you and have some serious fun :AID:

AE, go to Warren Avenue in Dearborn....there are many shops there.

Will you have a car? You could drive to Mackinaw Island which is about 5 hours north of Detroit. It's a lovely drive and the Island is fun. But you would have to stay overnite preferably.

Other than that, there are ferry rides downtown... you could drive to Troy, there Somerset Collection... a very trendy fancy shmancy Mall.

east/west on warren ave? cool I will take a note of that.

I know dearborn has some really good restaurants. looking forward to eating there. plz do throw out some names…I will find em

how far is ummmm I dunnoooo… grand rapids from dearborn? :aq:

which cities are w/in an hr distance from dearborn?

and where is the best most safest place (for a single girl traveling alone) to stay? somewhere not too far from the airport.

I would love to meet you!! :hula:

5hrs? I am only there for the weekend. i dont think I can pull that one off.

oh and yes…I will be renting a car.
oooo did u say trendy mall?

Re: Michigan

Grand Rapids eh :faizy:
2.5 hours.

Dearborn is close to the airport. There are some good hotels there. Hyatt, The Ritz, and then the other regulars. Stay close to Fairlane Town Plaza…that area is safe.

Yes, you must go to the Somerset Collection… they have ALL the good stores… neiman marcus, Nordstroms, Saks, etc etc..

Re: Michigan

niksik! Shahrukh Khan was once spotted at fairlane mall!

hehe all these nice places, traverse city, holland, etc are sooo much more closer to me than the Detroit people! April, I dont know how it’ll be like up north though. Traverse City is amazing especially during the fall time, with the colors and all.

p.s. im pretty sure im the only one who lives here! :hehe:

ignores the :faizy: bit :stuck_out_tongue:

oh yea sure…The Ritz …can TLK pay for that?

fairlane town plaza…ok.

how far is that from dearborn?

I want to go to so many place but I only have a couple days :frowning:

You’re off! I was there a few weeks ago, left at 6pm and entered arab kabob house parking lot at warren at exactly 8! no speeding, 70 all the way, no traffic.

oh no!!..really? :halo:

im confused…i duno where to stay. :bummer:

I need to go to dearborn to scope out a few things yet I wanna stay somewhere that is close to all the sight-seeing places.

Re: Michigan

Ok, 2 hours fine :smack:

AE, Fairlane is in Dearborn. And sure, I can send you TLK’s credit card number :chai:

niksik has kids...she drives slowly.

Frankenmuth might be 90 miles from where you will be. Its a nice small German town with a world's biggest 365 days Christmas store and other stuff.

If you have Canadian Visa, you can cross the border (Ambassador bridge is 20 minutes from Dearborn) and go to Windsor.

Dearborn itself is only 15 minutes drive from the Airport. Ritz and Hyaat are in Dearborn area.

:hehe: those 30 minz make a big difference when you are there for only 2-3days.

ok i am waiting for the pm. RITZ here I come!!

ok so seriously…
where should i stayyyyyy :bummer:

why a canadian visa? cant u just show them ur american passport?

Re: Michigan

Now if Spock were a gentleman… which I’m not sure he is because he is a Vulcan…he would come down to Detroit and be courteous enough to show you around, take you out to lunch and coffee… I mean you are a channel manager after all :snooty:

ive been there, its just a place where they celebrate xmas all year long! I dont know how all these germans and dutch just settled there and turned the places into a mini-europe! I mean why’d they come here in the first place j/k :hehe:

he doesnt like detroit.
he refuses to show me around. :frowning:
