While your question is fair - it is a separate and distinct question from mine. I am asking about a very specific situation (btw, this thread was inspired by GirlyMan’s thread on what if another man compliments your wife). I want to know, do some men WANT other men to compliment their wife?

Not really for most people…although there are some guys who like to brag/boast/show off their trophy wife…just like their car or watch or other possessions..
but then again… women never dress up for looking attractive to men ..

And I guess that to me is the real question. These men who want trophy wives and want others to be jealous of them for having snagged a beautiful woman, what do we say about their ghairat? Have they not objectified their wife?
Don't get me wrong, if a man selects a woman because she is khoobsurat and khoobseerat, then he's looking beyond the superficial, but for a man whose sole measure of a woman's worth is how she looks on his arm - what do you say about such men?

True. And for once I agree with your analogy about women. A woman who marries solely on the "earning potential" and bragging rights for having a rich husband is no different than the man who marries a beautiful woman to show her off.

I think the balance is fairly simple:
Would this man marry this same woman if she was disfigured before they were married?
Would this woman marry this same man if he lost all of his money before they were married?
I'll add a caveat, that even people who choose their partner for less superficial reasons may re-think their decision to marry the other person in the above events, but for people of this nature - this is the sole criteria.
