Re: Meera is Married?

Shafqat Begum, mother of film star Meera, has said her daughter’s purported husband Attiqur Rehman should know that girls affiliated with show business do not remain housewives for long.

She said this to Defence Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarfraz Virk on Monday.

Not married: However, Meera’s mother also denied that her daughter married Attique on September 2, 2007. She said her daughter was unmarried, and she would herself arrange Meera’s marriage.

Virk told Daily Times that Meera’s mother appeared on the actress’s behalf, while Attique appeared in person to record their statements for initial investigation on their applications moved against each other. He said the police was investigating the possession of the house that Attique claims he gifted to the actress. He said the police was also probing whether the household items had been removed from the house as claimed by Attique. He said the police would proceed against the accused if any of the offences was proven.

Missing act: About Meera’s appearance before the police, the ASP said he required Meera’s presence, but her mother appeared instead and said her daughter was not in the city and would appear later.

Shafqat Begum had filed an application before the Defence-A police alleging that Attique had attacked her house in DHA to occupy it illegally and kill Meera.

Attique has alleged that he owns the house, and a civil suit is pending before a court over the ownership of the house. He said the court granted him a stay order, directing Meera’s family not to remove anything from the house. But, he claims, Meera’s family illegally removed his antique furniture, which he had imported from China.

Defence-A Police Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Abid Rasheed told Daily Times that he had been directed to verify the authenticity of the marriage documents produced by Attique. He said the police would also try to establish the ownership of the house.
