I agree that the whole thing seems way too fake, however, i have read it and it was written well. they have chopped off a lot of it to fit into just two episodes. Plus the sister's looks more like someone who was raised here...accent waghairah, i mean. Sarwat gillani has a fobby accent.
Some things don't translate properly in the screen or the screenplay adaption was a rush job. I will continue to watch this drama. But yesterday's episode was a majorly flawed. Humsafars flaws started after after the half way mark. The way Hareem meets her father in alley, and the way Khirad immediately leaves Hareem and then rushes back with Asher. However these were easier to ignore because these interspersed with memorable scenes. It could that they want to rush things along in the relationship and have the couple get married....to get into the next sequence of events. In Humsafar the romance began AFTER the wedding.
^ agreed! I'll still continue following the drama. It's still the best thing out there and i love the cinematography and camera work. Plus script is feel good, not emotionally draining!
i agree with all of you, something is missing and its going too fast! it also gives a very 'dreamy-feeling', getting in love at this rate of speed lol and then the way ibad wanted to propose without even speaking to his parents (will be interesting to see what happens later though) ...uuhh... i dunno doesnt feel right. But yes, i will continue to watch it, they look cute together and i like the story of Adam nd yamina ALOT, they are not the 'perfect' couple, and got problems between them which will be interesting to watch
At the risk of sounding repetetive guys, its a Farhat Ishtiaq script, so expect a bumpy ride throughout the whole drama. There are many things which simply won't make sense in the story. There is hardly anything else worth watching right now..
I just noticed in this episode that Sarwat is actually looking a bit old in some scenes, not a fresh faced college going girl that she is supposed to portray. She certainly doesn't look any younger than her 'older sis' Sanam Saeed.

Sarwat looks pretty good but Sanam definitely looks younger because she probably is. Remember these were shot in new York and I honestly don't think the makeup artists in USA are
Comparable or they are super expensive compared to the ones in Pakistan. Remember producers don't like to spend a lot of money. They get a lot more for the money in Pakistan. Honestly I can't say that they didn't any spend money because their are costs involved in transporting the cast to usa and then there meals and accommodation costs, etc.

Can someone explain WHY practically ALL Pakistani dramas go through the boy-meets-girl-leading -to-courtship-leading-to-marriage(or not) process ATLEAST in the first 5 episodes, before the actual story kicks in. Humsafar, Mora Piya, Daam, Mere Qatil, this one....the whole lot of them. It's repetitive, predictable and adds no value whatsoever to the story unless done in some ultra-novel manner. This drama is way too slow. Things ought to speed up.

All the more reason to question the wisdom of Mehreen Jabbar in choosing stories based in the USA. Surely, productions based in Pakistan would benefit the local economy. Also her dramas like Daam and Doraha had a lot more charm because they were based in Pakistan and had socially relevant stories which were conveyed beautifully by Mehreen. That is what a director of her caliber should be choosing and not some light weighted, fluffy stuff by Farhat Ishtiaq, no matter how highly recommended it comes.

She lives in New York. Recently she became an American citizen. It is harder to shoot serials because f the cost and logistics. However, of you make New York (brooklyn) your home naturally projects which take place will be appealing to a director who resides in new York. Remember a director does not write the script nor do they foot the bill for expenses for production. A producer Mai goal is TO MAKE MONEY/profit on a project. They will choose projects tha garner advertisements. So whatever the public chooses to watch whether it be violence, romance, social issues, corruption, vulgarity they will produce to sell advertisement. I believe production for mata e JAAN began shortly after a few episodes f Humsafar aired and it was the number serial on air throughout. I dot think they put as much creative thought as was necessary . Mehreen Jabbar is one of the best directors in the industry. Producer spent money on choosing a smart director. Farhat Ishtiaq hit the jackpot big time with Humsafar so Humtv was going to cash in on this success. At the end of the day IT'S ABOUT MONEY. In the process if they manage to create/ produce a hit serial so be it.

Twinklestar, What you are saying might be true for a producer, i.e making money from a succesful hit, but a good director should be selective when choosing what project they want to work on. One of the most important criteria for them is surely the story because that is after all what the viewer judges the drama on first and foremost. I hardly think a director chooses projects just to be close to home.
Too many culture related bloopers to ignore. They should stick to doing dramas based in Pakistan for quality purposes. However, I highly doubt that people in Pakistan would notice these Faux pas.
And I hate Ibbad's unclean look. He looks like a junkie. So off putting...
What about when Ibaad's gift for the Daadi? I didn't know Lord & Taylor sold classical CD's and DVD's. I know I'm going overboard here......but Mehreen should've picked up on this.

Wow I thought I was super observant but I guess those of us living in the USA have a heard time letting go of things. I always save nice dept store bags and use them as gift bags. So it is not necessary that the stuff inside has to be from lord and Taylor. Me personally I am more concerned about how quickly Ibaad proposes to to Haniya and that too without telling his parents to whom he is super close too. It may be possible that some of these issues may be clarified later on in the pserial. Asher if you recalled also acted very irratically with Khirad. Vbut in the last episode he says in that that wives can sometimes deceive but a mom never deceives or cheats her child. This one line gives huge clarification to the way Asher behaved. So perhaps there may some plausie reason why Ibaad behaves this way. So I will give Farhat Ishtiaq a break for now. I don't think blame Mehreen Jabbar for taking on this project. In this business you often have to keep good terms with producers. If Momina Duraid is going to approach a director most likely they will accept. Mehreen previously directly 3 plays for humayon Saeeds 7th sky production ( doraha, Daam, mzzb)....all written by Umera Ahmed. Umera has proved her her writing prowress time and time again. True Farhat Ishtiaq is still a newbie but her paramount success with her first serial made her a household name. It is important how the rest of
Story is dramatized.
I genuinely appreciate Umera Ahmed's work. However I believe that we excellent writers. I honestly believe that Pakistani actors can really act however they are at the mercy of script writers and directors. I for one am excited if there is a prospect of one more writer with substance.
