I feel really sick and full of remorse when not so nice things happen between us, I can have cool times too when things go well -I seek things but they are not entirely reached … marriage seems so heavy compared to life before marriage … but I only want my wife and no one else to be with me in heaven, hoping she feels the same way … if she does - she does not let on …

I know that I don’t excite her … I know I can be mean to her … but I only want her companionship here and in heaven …

I know that if we are together in heaven - our desires that we have had in this world - will be met 10 times over in each other … And on this level there is no fantasy and no prior “love” that can compare to how I feel about my wife … I want to be the one who has the honour who sees her eclipse the beauty of 70 hoors.

I don’t believe there is any such thing is one and true love. I think humans have the ability to move on and find the same “love” feelings for an other person. Ofcourse the longer the two people are together the harder it is to break the habit of being with eachother. So whomever you end up marrying and hence stay with the longest feels like the truest love or the only true love. Yes, this my theory and others may not agree and I don’t have much experience and I’m not married either.

Many of us have moved on in life and a bit mature now. Based on what you know about love now, do you think that your ‘first love’ (think way way before you met your spouse or fiancé – the one that happened when you were 16-17-18 or so) was really a love?

I was not quite shareef before marriage (not very hard for you to guess), but when I now think of those encounters (yes its plural), I feel angry at myself. What stupidity was that man? In my case, it was not even hormones. It was more of a check mark. *Hey, everyone has a GF, I should do that too or I would look like a loser. *All those encounters were mere liabilities and pure headaches. So in my case, it was far from love. It was immaturity.

Indeed, there is no such love exist. As a Muslim we should love prophet Muhammad(saw) first, then Allah(swt), and then anyone else.

After nikkah, Allah always create love in the hearts of spouse. So these are the saying of Allah.

"One of His signs is that He created for you spouses of your own species, so that you might find comfort with them. And He put mutual love and affection in your hearts. Surely in this there are lessons for the thinking people" (30:21)

My first love deserves an entirely independent journal entry, haha. Short story, boy from high school; aga khani - so the religion was an issue; and then the fact that he was a douche who did not want to admit he was brown and was a bit of a wild one was another problem; and oh yeah...there is the little issue of how I destroyed his ego by beating him in a election, and he thought I compromised his chances of getting into Harvard.

I did.

I got into Harvard. He got into Yale. I never had the money to go to school, and he was a rich kid with connections, so he went on to Yale, and I went onto ... well... the life I live now I guess.
