^ ya i have heard she (umera) is a very private person, almost reclusive who doesn't do interviews and all, good for her. she is a serious writer who's not in it for the glamour factor i guess.

anyways, bottom line i really used to like imran abbas i thought he was a decent guy and all that, but the day he lied about his age he started to annoy me. now i seriously can't stand him. i really like the first two episodes of Malal, i just don't want to see imran abbas in it.
He must be watching this thread I think (according to arjay) but he is not going to care abt it I'm sure... just smiling and moving on... like all celebrities :D
i hope those actors care for criticism and change their attitude and stop being jerks (that goes to all the actors who are jerks, not just imran abbas)
warna there are so many other even better looking and better actors in our tv dramas, we can always have a new fav.

Actually...I haven't had the honor to work under Mehreen's direction at all! As far as "MALAL" is concerned...its no GUNG HO role that one can write home about! Its a one or two scene GUEST role I did at someone's request---that even Mehreen didn't know about it....as she was in New York at the time MOOMAL people called me..requesting for this bit (but I think they may have taken her buy in on phone or email).
Mehreen to me, being daughter of my school senior and having known her from her age of 5 or 6, is like a daughter while she has immense talent as a director...she is not one of those to be influenced by family associations and take chances by casting not good actors! and I do believe that she is still not settled with the idea that I can act :) and frankly, I do value her thoughts if they are as such 'cause I have never taken acting as my profession that I should excel....its just my shauq that I do a bit of "CABARET" where we have a good mixture of TAALIYAAN and GAALIYAAN....when it comes to appreciation levels.
Her parents; Jayjay and Shabnam have been known to me closely since early sixties....and MEHREEN from the time she was a toddler.
I respect her geity and class on directions that she has so indepth knowledge which bespeaks through the success of the serials like DO RAHA and not to forget her earlier and daring one "NIWALA"....

^ uncle, tell mehreen her dramas are too dry. she needs to add some humor or romance even if she's attemptig a serious theme. when I say romance I do not mean typical filmi romance.
sahira kazmi 's dramas should be watched to understand that technique. take for instance her serial nijaat. it has a very serious theme but the treatment makes it light hearted and entertaining. this is what mehreen needs to learn.
otherwise, she's the best among the current lot.

O/T - anyone know the drama that's going to come on with Nadia Jamil and Humayun Saeed? They keep on showing its clip on Hum TV where Humayun looks like he's playing a stalker (but a handsome stalker ;) haha)
thats true, there is a similarity between the 2 characters, an innate weakness which eventually takes over their entire character/personality.
its such a simple storyline so far, the complexity is in the characters, they seem to be the driving force in the story (just like 'doraha'). thats what good direction is all about, in my opinion, when the characters become larger than life and instead of giving weird twists to the story itself the drama is created through the gradual growth of these characters, what mehreen jabbar excels at. love it!
