Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Hi, my friend had her makeup done by Joshiv on her Barat and also she did the hair, makeup for her three sisters. I would not recommend her, the makeup was a rushed job on the sisters. Eye lashes coming off on the sides and eye liner was not done to the right standards.

All in all I would say shes a waste of money. However, the bridal was better but still not good enough. From far and the pictures it looked good, but it did help as the bride is naturally pretty but however closer the glue from eyelashes was visible on the lashes. The makeup had NO wow factor.

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

I just wanted to let everyone know, if its not already been added, i need to get a trial done with Lubna, and they quoted me 75gbp for make up only, and 100gbp for hair and make up !!

That is insane !!
and i have her for two days, so 200gbp?! for what!!!

man these people rip ones "kkhaal" off !

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

To Reality check - my cousin is getting married and she said Lubna was one of the most expensive ones her price for one ocaasion for 550 without any trials plus travel was extra! She has now found someone very reasonable and good.

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

hey

i have have her for both day, and she is charging me 400 + 450 gbp. i asked a lot of make up artists, and they were all in the same bunch, so i went with her.

But the trial money thought is just killing me.. i just dont know if i will get a trial made,
is it essential to get them done ?

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Hi RealityCheck,

I would suggest that as far as possible you do have a trial beforehand, just mainly for your peace of mind, to see how you will look on your special day, as well to chat with your MUA to discuss any possible changes that you may wish to make to your overall look...

all the best :)

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Reality check - a trial is important because it is your first contact with your makeup artist and you need to know whether she and her work is right for your big day. And as far as overall package is concerned with a trial each event is adding up the bill. My cousin went with Sana K makeup artist due to several reasons.

Thanks Tahiya and Devi...for ur replies.... xx

I was also wondering has any one heard of fariha and noureen in ilford... I did some research on Lubna...there was a mixture of comments about her on asiana mag website...i came across some comments saying shes brilliant at the trail..then on the day itself...she brings her sister along and rushes her work....and takes the money and goes.... soo kind off double minded now...
LOL i think im going kraziiii.....

I also have seen gini's work on her site and FB...and like devi said it doesnt stand out as much.... so I think i wont go for her....

so now i think i will go a defo trial with ambreen....and the other mua is between lubna or fariha......
Then another trial at bham..... AT noor signature...any one heard of them????

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Ok so in my opinion:
Shabana (from Southall near the train station) she did my sister's wedding make-up for both days. She charged £220 for make-up, hair etc at the salon on both days. She charges £350 for home visits. A lot of people in Southall go to her. My sister is naturally pretty masha’Allah so everyone said she looked fantastic. However as it was in the salon she was really disorganised and kept jumping between clients with my sister found very very annoying. She made my sister late on both days but we were lucky cos we made sure we went 5/6 hours in advance just in case. She’s very good at doing dramatic eye make-up but her hairstyles aren’t great which seems to be a problem amongst most make-up artists. Oh she’s originally from Pakistan but she speaks fluent English and she doesn’t use any leading make-up brands like mac, dior etc she just uses a mix match of things. So in conclusion I would recommend her for party make-up BUT not bridal. I go to sometimes to just get eye makeup done and she does a very good job. She’s talented and got over 18 years experience; check out her portfolio of real brides on her website if you want to see.

Annie Shah – I actually really like her make-up from what I’ve seen on FB but I haven’t seen any real brides. A girl on this thread said she wasn’t great at doing hair but I reckon if she’s good at doing make-up then you can always have a separate hair stylist like Dar, Uzma Rafiq, Bashir etc. She quoted me £300 for make-up, hair etc including the trial. So she’s definitely cheaper than the rest and her e-mail to me was really nice. If her trial is cheap then again theres no harm in checking her out. Apparently her eye make-up is great.

Ambreen – Her work reminds me a bit of Lubna Rafiq’s and their prices are also similar. I’ve seen 2 brides of hers and one looked stunning but the girl was naturally pretty anyway lol. From what I gather she’s good at both hair and make-up. I know a colleague of mine who had her wedding day make-up from Lubna and Ambreen for her Walima and she looked wicked on both days.

Lubna Rafiq – Again if you look at her FB real brides album you can see all her work. Her sister Uzma Rafiq normally does the hair but she is very good. She is very popular but if you’re after the natural look for your wedding then she’s the best person cos she doesn’t really do the dramatic look. If I was getting married I would have Lubna for a mendhi, engagement or Walima where the make-up is more subtle.

In my opinion I think you should have a look at Annie Shah (cos of the price she’s the cheaper option) and then Lubna or Ambreen. No point in getting Ambreen and Lubna for both days as their work is similar and they do charge a lot more depending on location.

Hope that helps. Any more questions just ask. x

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

No offence and I hope I don’t sound rude but I find her make-up drag queen, its a bit OTT for my liking
