Make up artists in Chicago

Re: Make up artists in Chicago?

You know seriously that's what I get mad at too. Why are Pakistani's like this? Forget about cultural brotherhood, a Muslim shouldn't be so deceiving. It's sad that the qualities we want to see in our Muslim/Pakistani community, such as honesty are totally gone and we have to go to ghora's for better treatment. But man whatever. It's their own grave.

Anyhoo. If you don't mind, can you tell me how much per head is the Stonegate?? The Meridian is 50 bucks per head on Saturday and 40 on Sunday, but I need two separate rooms, which they are willing to provide if I have a 200 minimum guest list. I'm thinking it's running a little expensive, but I don't know which other places can give me two rooms in a 30 to 40 dollar range....

Re: Make up artists in Chicago?

Have you looked at Ashyana Banquets in Downers Grove, IL? Bristol Courts and Empress Banquets are also options.

Yeah Ashyana I called 'em up and was really excited about it. The prices, including food, were very reasonable. But a friend told me their food was awful, and that if I cater from outside it'd end up being expensive.
I'll look into Bristol Courts and Empress Banquets! Thanks for the referral :-)

MAke-up in Chicago

looking for an excellent makeup artist in chicago area...any recommendations...please, we are having hard time finding a really good one, and we are running out of time...will appreciate it...thank you sooo much!

theres already a thread titled 'make up artist in chicago'... theres a lot of good info in there that should help u out!

a few popular MUA's are saleha abbasi quadri, anna shafei, milli khan, zainab, anjum @ nordstrom in woodfield, maria at kaaya salon, rabia sikander, mehwish khan, etc.

read that thread though, u'll get more contact info :)

the other reasonably priced halls ive heard of are belvedere banquets in elk grove village and astoria banquets in buffalo grove... theres also alta villa and diplomat west (elmhurst).. one of those should work out for u iA!

Re: Make up artists in Chicago?

and ashyana food is NOT bad at all.. maybe they just had one bad day but in general, ashyana food is pretty good... i havent heard many complaints about it...i think u should re-consider it ;)

I had booked Anjum Khan for my wedding stage decor and the flowers, she was HORRIBLE. The stage was just a mess and she also was to provide the weddings chairs for me and my husband to sit on and all she gave were two cheap chairs with gold chair covers on it. And the stage decor, cheap white fabric with extremely small bouquets on the top. The guy who set it up just took the money and left and I couldn't get a hold of her or anything. I would really reconsider that woman.

She also provides the food for Monty's, it's just bleh food, not great at all, pretty bland actually.

^^^^
Really? Kajaf and Dream Occasions sound really good. I have yet to talk to either of them. I emailed kajaf but I didn't get a response. I have to call them I guess
Both have websites, check em out they are awesome.

Re: Make up artists in Chicago?

Man it is just so incredibly rude with makeup artists and vendors dont get back to you!! aargh!

Does anyone know of any good tailors or seamstresses in Chicago that can alter/fit clothes? I really need one.

How does Anjum provide food for Montys? I thought she was a florist?

Try the tailor at Salma's boutique next to Libas on Devon. My family has sewn clothes from the darzi there and they really liked the fitting. He might be a little expensive, but it's worth it when comparing it to all of the aunties who sew that I have seen.

Re: MAke-up in Chicago

my cousin had her wedding in Chicago, she went to ULTA
and omg she looked amazing, u shud check it out

Re: Make up artists in Chicago?

Anjum is just a florist. She doesn't do stages or food. Maybe she was working with someone else? A lot of stage decorators that I looked into work with her and she comes highly recommended. In fact, Kajaf designs work with her as well.

Re: Make up artists in Chicago?

So I've been recently planning my wedding and hear is what I have found in terms of pricing etc

Stage Design
Hands down Amer Design Studio is awesome! Amer is very professional, his prices are reasonable and he is always willing to work with your budget. I highly recommend him, he is a top notch guy and really knows what he is doing. I know that I will not have to worry about my stage and centerpieces and decorations at all, he will do a good job.

Photography
I actually ended up going with Dana Kalombo and LifePix, she had posted a few pages back. Her work is great, and is very into doing Indian weddings. Her sample pics were very nice and she is much easier to work with then our typical Indian photographers. I look forward to working with her. Professional and courteous.

Food
Gaylord in Schaumburg, once again super professional. There tasting was amazing, we had 9 people and we all left full, the dishes and desserts would just not stop. I highly recommend these guys. Once again another thing I am certain I do not have to worry about. I have had there food at many different events, always good and always enough. Our desi muslim caterers are all so deceiving and seem to always be shady (Sad but true). These guys were straightforward and honest and food and dessert were delicious as well. They will also cook to different styles including hydro, paki etc.

Banquet Halls
Belvidere Banquets in Elk Grove , also another great and professional facility. PM me here and I can get you in contact with the sales rep who gives the best deals. She is amazing to work with. This is the 3rd event my family is having there, prices are much lower than others for the service and hall you get. Once again highly reccomended.

Video:
Studio Seven in Woodridge, these guys seem to be pretty good. I wasn't too concerned about video, more so pictures but these guys are good and affordable and listen to your ideas as well which is hard to find!

Mehndi
Ramada Inn in Glendale Heights, I think a good venue for a mehndi and it is very affordable. Masood Sheikh catering is pretty good, but he can be a little hard to work with at times.

Things to avoid
SK Flowers aka Vinod Rami, clueless, overpriced, not worth your time

Usmania catering, there food tasting was a joke, one samosa cut in half for 6 people? Come on, spend a little to earn alot!

For those of you looking for halls I highly recommend Belvidere and Meadows Club. I have heard Meadows has dropped there rates drastically in this economy. For Belvidere PM me and I will get you in contact with the rep. She will give you the best deal!

I also recommend Dana, her photojournalism style is great, and much cheaper and so much more accessible than Amna Siddiqui, not rude like Syed Studio, not ugly like Murad or Sejal.

Hi Everybody!
I am getting married in a couple months inshallah and am so stressed out! a few tips and recomendations would really help.
i have been looking into stage decorators, so far I like Rami (i think thats his name) his center pieces are amazing!! iam thinking about booking him. does anyone else know someone good?

i booked my hall. Phew! that is done with and also catering from Sabri. but does anyone know anything about having a great desert table?

i am pretty sure who i want to book for make up. had a trial with mac anjum at nordstrom(it was ok) and a trial with a couple make up artist on fb. my friend whos getting married this monthhad a trial with maliha-milly(somthing like mklkmake up?) and said she was sweet and all but she did not like the make up , she said she could have done that at home. but then when she got the pictures back from maliha from the trial. she was shocked because my friend knew that all the make up was airbrushed onto the pictures.
So i did not even waste my time on getting a trial from her hahaha, plus i did not like her pictures on website.
oh and i also got a trial done from the nars counter at oakbrook nordstrom and they did a great job but she wasnt able to come to my bridal room.
my last trial was with godess make up- saleha and it went really well, i adored it. she took a couple days to get back at me but she was so sweet about it. she really listened to what i wanted. i told her subtle on wedding and extravagent on walima lol i am hoping to booking her for my mehendi, wedding, and walima. im super stoked about my walima make up since it is more fun colors. any advice on this subject would be good 2.

i looked into a couple photgraphers, amna siddiqui is number 1 on my list right now, she does AMAZING photgraphy. i also heard about Pintu? who is he and someone know any info on him? also, my friend told me about saad khan and syed studio? I am stressed about this, someone help :(

oh and i am getting my wedding clothes from ayesha warsi :) so stoked about that. anyone know where i can get a big teeka from?

and finally, anyone know someone who does outstanding mehendi? i want arbi style.

I KNOW ITS A LOT OF QUESTIONS, BUT PLEASE I AM DESPERATE!:(

Hey there ladies! So I have a lot to update you girls about. But in a hurry right now. Will probably post everything in detail next week.

Rami did an awesome job on my stages for all three days. Will post pictures later.

Maliha khan/sweetest one in Chicago is pretty good. I loved my Walema makeup. I would definately recommend talking to her in detail about what you want. Will post more later.

Check out Chateau Ritz in Niles if you haven't already. Everyone loved the service & the hall.

Avoid Astoria at any cost. Had a hell lot of problems there. Details later :)

Food was Usmania & Gulshan e Devon. It couldn't have gotten any better.

Photographer/videographer were Syed studios. I still have to see my album & video. It was an over all good experience. I do have a lots of do's & dont's to follow to guide them. I loved the pictures I have seen so far but I do know that more details could have been captured (partly my fault on this one) Will explain later.

Congratulations Bint_e_Naeem!!! May you have a blessed and wonderful marraige, Ameen.
Good to hear that everything went good for the most part! :-)
