Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
Hate it to break it to you but obviously Karachi will be lowest in cost since there is no electricity for days, and no water. So if there is no electricity and water, there won't be any bills and automatically cost of living will be low. Jeez.

Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
hm.. wonder what their parameters are.
last time i went to pakistan I found isb cheaper than karachi esp when it came to things like groceries.
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
Islamabad cheaper?
The groceries are probably the same as other cities of Punjab but everything else is way more expensive.
Karachi probably cheaper bcoz of major wholesail retailers in Karachi and lot of rejected export goods also thrown into local market.
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
Sorry friend. As the article says, Karachi is cheaper in the world only due to low cost living and people selecting alternative brands of products.
Karachi may be cheaper for an outsider but for the residents of the city (and the whole country) everything is out of reach. And inflation is still growing unabated.
Sad to say, but to me there is nothing to cheer about. I would prefer an expensive city which residents can still afford than a cheapest city which almost no one can afford.

July 30 (Bloomberg) – Pakistan’s central bank unexpectedly increased its benchmark interest rate for the first time in four meetings as** power and food costs add to inflationary pressures.**
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
Cheapest for expats.... if any are left in the country.
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
Lowest cost in terms of human life

Loadshedding is now widespread throughout the country, Karachi is not alone now. BTW loadshedding doesn't really mean lighter electricity bill, check out how fast the rates are going up for the electricity.
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
Islamabad on number 3??? Islamabad is expensive!!! Always was!
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
i dunno... all i know is i thought fruit and vegetables were relatively cheaper in isb compared to karachi. maybe it was the area i was at.
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
fruits and veggies perhaps because most of them come from adjoining areas, and go on trucks to karachi and other areas so the added cost which is alright... the mandi is cheap... however, its still a better option to go a few kms and get ur stuff from pindi...
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi

Mind , body or both
Re: Lowest Cost City in the World - #1 Karachi
One would think 'real estate value' would have big impact on cost of living.
