**Lone women barred from markets
for Ramzan in Pakistan town
**
ISLAMABAD: Pakistani women not accompanied by male relatives have been barred from visiting markets during the holy month of Ramzan in a town in the country’s restive northwest, and those violating the diktat will be arrested, a media report said today.
The decision to bar lone women from the markets of Serai Naurang in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was made during a meeting held at the local police station yesterday.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanaullah Khan chaired the meet that was attended by leaders of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- F and Jamaat-e-Islami and the head of a shopkeepers’ union.
Khan said women seen in bazars without a male relative would be arrested. He said the decision made “in view of the sanctity of Ramzan”.
However, several senior police officers took exception to the decision made by police and tribal elders in Serai Naurang and sought an explanation from police officers.
DSP is charing a meeting that makes such a deicision in the presence of representative of JUF and JI. What exactly this DSP was thinking of himself?

I know you guys don't agree with this, but what is the meaning of a ban like this, how can it be Islamic from the perspective of these authorities?
Nothing to do with Islam, it seems police did that to appease the Religious parties. Before taleban took over Fata, women there did not even take burqa, they'd cover themselves with a chaddar.

Fire the DSP and who the hell are JUI-F and JI officials to hold up meetings and take decisions like these, where is the politically elected govt of ANP??? aren't they suppose to do anything???? seriously, is there any govt in KPK?

its funny usually, you would hear these coming from taliban.
maybe next we will hear, women should be banned from being women? this crazy guy should be fired or perhaps sent to Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia, he belongs there I think.
