LIVING IN DUBAI

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I agree. the export of Bangladesh has increased ten folds in past two decades making some people filthy rich....it is preferred economy with no quota's (taxes) in West.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Dubai is awesome and each day I spend in Pakistan I miss it even more. There is no place like Dubai for me. It's just too good. It's home.

Dubaiwali, you got loads of money after all.....;)

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I'd say a minimum wage of 10K with accommodation taken care of by your employer. Only then will you be able to enjoy your stay in Dubai and still bank some spare change. Anything lower will only be stress in the long run.

Personally I love Dubai (And Pakistan too).

Alhumdullilah.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

A said by mastanamalik. I agree almost all of it because thats what basics of Dubai is.. Just glittering stuff only if you have Black Water (Ehm I mean Black Money)

Further more I think I dont need to explain it any further as you can read many of Dubai related blunders in the following links… (May be for some its not a great deal because they only think of their pockets and their tummy, but for me it does matter, as I consider a worker getting 2 USD an hour is also human and also only if paid on time.

Few Examples, Please read it =]

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Appreciate your comments aaho....

Clad seems to be too over-dressed.....

for you saying this, i'm assuming you are talking about a bachelor living in dubai who does not really have any good activity other than staying home, watching movies or roaming around in malls... OR stay home and read some books...

because i've been in dubai for last 6+ years on and off... been on a company maintained big home + car to self paid studio with no car, and again back to an average/ standard living...

as people have already said in this thread, you will love dubai if you have loadsssss of money and you don’t care how you spend it,
but if you don’t, i'll just give you few examples... if, God forbid, you became ill, and you do not have A VERY GOOD MEDICAL COVER, you are going to pay at least AED 1500 (PKR 34,000) for a single visit to a doctor and some*minor* laboratory tests, in a not so good hospital with naive docs serving you. another example, have your car hit by an arab who might be driving on wrong side with your only fault being not letting the guy pass by ramming your own car into footpath and you will have to pay for the damage to his/her luxury car because of HIS/HER own mistake. another example, dont let an arab take-over you on road, no matter how much you are in hurry and in emergency, and that arab turns out to be someone influential, then you might get 2 options, either get deported with a lifetime ban to re-enter the country, or pay a handsome amount of AED 32000 (almost rupees 740,000) to the guy...

these are all examples of what i've seen myself with my own eyes, or happened to someone i know.

one can argue that you can find similar cases everywhere, even back in Pakistan, and pretty easily, then yes sure you can, but we are talking about how good is dubai for living... so don’t bring in that argument

BUT, having said all that, it’s still worth giving a try if you are not getting paid good in Pakistan, and you are able to secure a job/ setup some work which pays off good enough, then yes you can live a comparatively comfortable life and save more, than what you can do back in Pakistan with a similar job/work, with some compromises of course.

Thanks!

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Dubai is a famous place and there are concerts etc happening all the time. Cricket matches not too often but yeh we do have them. Again give me 7 days, i'll go back and find out meself and then tell you.

P.S. I love what you have written in your location lol. Welcome to the club! ;)

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I've been to Dubai quite a few times now and I have to agree with what most people have said here unless you're filthy rich it really isn't an ideal place to live in. Besides the Emirati people are unbelievably rude, the guys think they can stare at you like you're some piece of meat and the women eye you up and down like you're some sort of threat to them.

There really is no depth to that place...and it's far from the glittering paradise it claims to be. You only have to have a chat with Indian/Pakistani/Bengali taxi drivers and Filipino nannies to realise what a hell hole it is to live in if you aren't wealthy or Emirati. That's my observation of that place anyway. I guess my contempt arises from the fact that it's a place of hypocrisy...and I cannot stand hypocrisy.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

^ I second that, not having been to Dubai but pretty much hearing what you have just said. Living in KSA was also very familiar with regards to attitudes.
