LIVING IN DUBAI

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

It’s funny how people can say anything without even living in or visiting the place. Sorry but you actually have to live there to know how it actual is. Rude boys are just not in Dubai or UAE, boys like that are all over the world. Pakistani boys are so crap, I don’t even have to say anything more. The staring is so bad here. It’s a world wide problem. The girls do stare, some of them but it is more of a problem in Kuwait or Saudi Arabia than in Dubai or UAE.

Nannies are actually paid quite well. I don’t know which Nanny you are talking to. Most of the people give a lot of freedom to their Nannies and Maids. Friday off. At least 1500 dirhams a month salary which is pretty good compared to other countries. Plus the Fillipinos themselves want to come to UAE, they can go anywhere else but they don’t. We used to have a Fillipino maid and she loved living in Dubai. It was so hard for her to go back to Philippines at the end of her contract tenure with us. Taxi drivers and taxi is a problem but I think it might get sorted in the future. Taxi drivers still make good money compared to some of the other countries.

Yes, there is no doubt. If you have money, no matter wherever you are, you can live comfortably. There are expensive cities to live in all over the world. It is up to you to decide if you want to live in one or not. BESIDES Dubai is still less expensive than freaking London and the UK. Public transportation costs are a killer in the UK, Metro in Dubai is cheaper than the UK, taxis and bus system is better and cheaper in Dubai. Groceries are cheaper in Dubai. So what if luxury goods are expensive in Dubai. They are luxury goods and they are supposed to be expensive in the first place innit?

It is up to a city to portray how it is, to catch peoples attention. Dubai is a tourism hub and has a glittery image. SO WHAT? ← That question was rhetorical.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Like I said in my previous post...that's* my observations and *my opinion of Dubai.

So what if public transport and groceries are cheaper in Dubai compared to the UK? At least we don't exploit our working class to the extent Dubai does. I'd rather pay slightly more for my apples than have practical slave labour going on under my nose thanks.

I guess the situation in Dubai is similar to situations across the rest of the Middle East...but then why does Dubai claim to be ultra modern? <--- That was a rhetorical question.

My point is...Dubai has adopted the worst of western/modern culture yet chosen to ignore the best of it (democracy/equality etc.)

That's all I'm going to say on this subject. I can see you're very patriotic about your home which is great but patriotism to the point of being blind can't be a good thing.

Don't get me wrong, Dubai isn't all bad. I've been there plenty of times and will continue to do so because I enjoy my time there. Of course it has faults just like every other place in the world but it irritates me when people try to tell me it's some sort of paradise when it clearly isn't.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Well I frigging love it here! :D

Looking forward to getting some info on concerts when your back dubaiwali! Have a safe trip x

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Exploit working class? LMFAO. Did you know there is a new fatwa in UAE which says that it is okay if the labourers do not keep their fasts because it is damn hot. The working hours of the labourers are reduced in Ramadan. They are told to do night shifts so that they don't die from a heat stroke or something. Which country in the Middle East does this? The media only writes and projects the bad things about a city. It is not all bad. I am not saying Dubai is some sort of Paradise on Earth but we are much better off than any of the other countries around.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Haha thanks. I am sure you will love it more when you come here and settle. It is up to a person to make a city their home and to suit them. If they will already have a negative mindset of something then that will hinder their adjustment process in the city and create problems. Come with an open mind and do not compare. Most important.

Yeh, 17th or 20th I am going to be coming back. Can't wait, 2 months away from Dubai is like heart ache.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Wow. How very kind and considerate of them. Like these things aren't basic human rights anyway but whatever lets just choose to ignore that.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I have been here for 3 years now and I love it I was in UK before marriage. I love the culture, traditions and generally people are very friendly.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

We can focus on the glass being half full isn't it instead of the glass being half empty? At least they are giving the right to have basic human rights, some countries don't even do that. Like I said Syraa, there are problems all over the world, and in all cities. Dubai is not above everyone and neither is it perfect. We do have some problems but it is not that bad like people make it out to be. People and the media.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I don’t even whether to laugh at this or not :smack:

The abuses the poor workers from Pakistan have to up with is beyond words.

Did you see the video of the UAE royal torturing an Afghan?

Please don’t mention Dubai and basic rights in the same sentence. Its insulting.

Tip of the iceberg, watch this few mins video. Then come and preach about rights.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

^ Hey Shak are you in Dubai now? I always thought you lived in UK :hmmm:

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I'll tell you something. There are not even that many WORKERS from Pakistan in the first place! HUH! Workers in Dubai are mainly from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Pakistanis are mainly taxi drivers and truck drivers. I don't give a **** about what a UAE royal does, that does not concern me. We are talking about Dubai over here. Talk about Dubai, don't talk about UAE. It's not the same thing.

Again, it's hilarious how people sitting in UK who have never ever been to Dubai let alone live in Dubai talk so much filth. Wow.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I was singing songs all the way out of UK.... bloody dump and I can say that because I ACTUALLY lived there since I was born rather than make my assumptions from thousands of miles away.

Dubai may not be the glitz and glamour that people mistake it for but i'd be darned if its not a better options to UK.

Have you seen the crime rates in UK? Murder, rape, racially motivated crimes to name a few. At least I can feel safe at night here.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Dubaiwaali Chalo jee Pakistani no paray maaro, lets talk about Sril Lankans too, Bangladeshi too shall we?

Have you even bothered to look at the video?

Didn’t think so.

So telling some home truths about your beloved Dubai is speaking filth now is it?

Wow INDEED. LOL!

Ok I am sitting a thousand miles away so lets ask people who live there

LETS ASK THE WORKERS, OH RIGHT! :halo:

I don’t know where you come from the UK :hehe:

Good to know you’ll feel right at home in Dubai then, sitting in buildings made by the sweat of abused, over-worked, exploited poor workers who built that place :k:

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

double

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Seriously mate? Are you for real? I certainy dont come from places of the likes of Bradiston so I get to meet people apart from Pakistani’s therefore I REALLY understand what UK is like… This little place I talk about is London… You should try it sometime.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Erm. How can you call the UK a dump? That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a while. Jaysus. I dread to think what you'd call actual third world countries.

LOL @ you thinking racially motivated crimes don't occur in the UAE. Naive, much?

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

D.Flair Yes I dont come from Bradistan too :halo: I have lived in plenty of places in the UK and I have no clue what you are on about :hehe:

I think fellow UK guppies would corroborate what I am saying.

I am ‘for real’ I kid you not! That by the looks of it cannot be said about you

UK a dump?

:omg:

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Each to their own. I hated it in London since I can remember and I was relieved to move away. I grew up in a mostly white english community so people were never easy to get along with from 9/11 onwards… If I had grown up in an asian community it wouldnt have bothered me as I wouldnt have had to deal with it on a day to day basis…I guess you really break your heart off a country when your mums burka is torn off by some white drunken ****.

The same way you can get patriotic about London people can about Dubai.

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

I love that I'm in a Muslim environment, its ok for people to wear hijab without being looked at funny, I can hear the azan and have all a somewhat islamic surrounding without having to let go of being in a modern city.

Every place is what you make of it and yes I do stand firmly on UK being a dump.

The crime rates, racially motivated harassment, crap weather... the list goes on...

Re: LIVING IN DUBAI

Racism happens everywhere.

I have seen Asians abusing whites too so what then?

This sin’t about patriotism. This is about some truths which our Dubai resident is ignoring.

There is no point in this discussion if you can’t acknowledge the vicious abuse the workers in Dubai go through. You talk about racism? SOME of the Arabs are the most racist people I have come across, this from living in KSA for 2 years. So lets not go there.

Look at that video. If not, then..Shrug.

I don’t know whether to laugh at cry at this. What an end-note :omg:

Weather?! Racism?

Happens everywhere. Not good but thats the truth.

I am sorry but after your list its hard to take you seriously. :smack:

You’re giving opinions backed up by nothing, I can get out about a million reports, videos about Dubai :halo:
