I have family in Pakistan (Karachi) and Bangladesh (Dhaka). In Gulshan, Dhaka the ppl live in more luxury than we do over here in the UK (I live on an estate where there isn't a single house under £1million and being honest that is nothing compared to the wealth I've seen over there.. for a million uk sterling u'd get only a basic house in Gulshan, my cousin's place is worth over £4 mill and there are whole rows of residential houses going for £10mill+ around where the embassies are.. Quite arrogant to presume Dhaka has nothing but poverty..
Even in a middle-class part of Dhaka like Dhanmondi it is pretty much impossible to get a flat for under £100k (more expensive than parts of the north of England and that's not even taking into account over there they don't use mortgages). There is a small pocket of super rich (obviously there would be with such a huge population).. like someone else pointed out every city has wealth and poverty..
Having said that tho it is nowhere as nice as Dubai :D
