Whenever I used to return from Karachi to Pindi, my Pindi freind always asked me to bring Papeeta and Nariyal from Karachi.
Oh yeah, that I agree with, there are no nariyals over there.

Re: List of Good Restaurants in Karachi, Lahore and other Pak Cities
You will get the variety in pulses in Karachi - moong, channa, arhar, green mash, black mash, masoor, split peas etc. But in Pindi, people only know about 3-4 pulses at the most.
There is no shortage of froms around Karachi as well. Karachi's district Malir, Thatta District, Badin and Hub are full of lush green farms. Karachi and adjoining area produces almost 60% of its milk's usage.
Greenery in Karachi? Ok...

lol Ive lived in Pindi, and I know all those you mentioned, and can post some more? Though I am not even fond of daal. And I am not talking about Pindi, I am talking about Lahore. Theres a reason why Lahore has a reputation of having the best food.
Re: List of Good Restaurants in Karachi, Lahore and other Pak Cities
I used to bring to Karachi - yummy desi ghee from Gujar Khan and akhrot from my Muzzaffarabad freind.
Re: List of Good Restaurants in Karachi, Lahore and other Pak Cities
Mostar, do you remember the best restaurants in Pakistan published by the news in 1998? I cant even remember if they picked a place in Karachi or not, but it was mostly Lahore and Islamabad.

I am not denying. Lahore has got the best resturant food! But food in Karachi's homes are equally yummy!

Please do not mix green mash with green moong!

You are right! There was no tradition of eating out in Karachi some 20 years back. Hence there were no good resturants here.
homes, maybe, but certainly not the restaurants. My experience of eating home food in Karachi was based out of relatives that are originally from the north, so I dont know about that, which is why i was focusing on restaurants only.
this is one of the placed I mentioned earlier, the guy who opened it up was my history teacher, and also saif ali khan’s son. Some of u might remember sheyryar khan of the PCB, thats his son.

It simply means you have very little knowledge about Karachi!

I998 was 10 years back. I dont know but the people I know in Kaachi are very fond of eating out, always were. The buying power has increased now, but then again the prices were alot cheaper back then.

yar I was born in KArachi, if you think Karachi is a lush green city then you haven't seen greenery at all my friend. Karachi is like jeddah, when it comes to greenery.
Re: List of Good Restaurants in Karachi, Lahore and other Pak Cities
Lahore people are fond of eating outside from the very beginning, I think. You will hardly see any peopel eating mangoes outside in Karachi as they do in Lahore (the chilled ones in the makta).
And they are Rohilla Pathans from Bhopal!
yeah, or the nawab pataudiz as the would call them. I think half the family settled in Pakistan, half of it in India. The guy who owns it, his names Omer Ali Khan, born and raised in England. He taught history at Beaconhouse Margalla Campus, and then started a good cricket team (bilal asad, bazid khan, son of majid khan were trained by him) and then finally opened the hot spot franchise.

Have you ever been to Gadap or Malir rural area!
Re: List of Good Restaurants in Karachi, Lahore and other Pak Cities

The princess of the Bhopal state migrated to Karachi - mother of Sheryar Khan who lived all her life in Malir's lush green farm areas and died a few years back.
Re: List of Good Restaurants in Karachi, Lahore and other Pak Cities
I have yet to go there, but this is one of the few restaurants that my cousins in karachi ever praised, and it seems like they opened up a branch in Isb too, but I must have missed it. Gunsmoke
