you mean Dhauraji!! thats an area.........they've got a few gola ganda stands out there on the round about. Best one is Saleem Kadir's!!
It is actually Dhoraji Colony and Dhoraji is a town in India wherefrom Memon people migrated to Pakistan.

The variety of food that Karachi has, can not be compared from anywhere else in Pakistan. Karachi has taste of every inch of Pakistan and it crosses the border and brings the food from India such as Hyderabadi, Bihaari, MeeruThi, Dehlvi, Ilahabadi dishes.

Yes you are right. But mostly these good foods can be found at your homes - cooked by your moms! But the current flock of women are fastly loosing this art.

The variety of food that Karachi has, can not be compared from anywhere else in Pakistan. Karachi has taste of every inch of Pakistan and it crosses the border and brings the food from India such as Hyderabadi, Bihaari, MeeruThi, Dehlvi, Ilahabadi dishes.
But its not that good honestly, and alot has to do with the fact that all the livestock etc comes from far away and the humidity makes it really bad. My relatives who live there, the only thing they look forward when they come to Punjab is the food.
Food in Lahore however, is unparalleled, theres just no comparison. Keep in mind, I am not even from Lahore ;) The only thing Karachi might have an edge on is seafood, but then again the fresh water fish that you can find in Jehlum etc is pretty good too!
Next time I goto Pak, I plan on dedicating 3-4 days in Lahore, exclusively for the kulchaz, niharis, and all.

one needs to make sure before his shaadi, that his life partner can make good round tasty chappatiz!
hmmm .. all I see my friends from punjab here in USA (from Lahore, Gujran wala, Faisalabad and Multan) craving for are “chikkaR chollay” or paaaye or chollay pulaao at the most.
Indus river does have a good variety of fresh water fish too.
Find some gola kabaab, bihaari kabaab, bhagaaraY baiNgan, maTka gosht, baalTi gosht, Biryaani (the one that has meat and not chollay:p), etc. and eat on my behalf … I heard food street has all varieties…
One of my relatives in Karachi who has a side business of restaurants went there in the beginning of it and made a fortune out of it

Paye, though I never eat em, the best ones are available in Lahore, at Gunwalmundi, everyone knows. You must have heard the song ‘gunwaalmundi ke siri paye’
The best Tikka Kababs I have ever had would be Lakshmi Chowk.
Yeah, but by the time the Indus crosses midland Punjab, the water is sluggish and the freshwater fish isnt as tasty as it is if caught in the streaming gushes of the north. You can feel the difference in the trout thats available everywhere else, and the one caught in Swat.
you should check out the food street in Lahore. Theres one in every city, but the one in Lahore is by far the best. The one in Islamabad is just crappy.
Btw, Murgh Pallayo the best in the country → Jahangir in Faisalabad

No yar, what I mean is the fresh water fish found in the slower water isnt as tasty as fast running water. If I were in Karachi, I’d go for the salt water fish, as thats the specialty there. AQ you will have to treat me to jumbo prawns when we meet up in Karachi 
Btw, theres alot of kantaz in the fresh water fish, it can get annoying!

Some 20 years ago, there was no concept of eating out in Karachi. I hardly remember my abbo and amma ever eating outside. At the most, we used to bring nihari and kebabs from outside - nihari from Bhorray Khan - the best ever nihari in Karachi (sadly they gone out of business) and kebabs from Lalukhet Dakhana or Bunrs Road.
But we always had great foods at our home and on festival occasions - Moharrram, Rabiulawal, Girwian, Shab-e-Barat, Eid and Baqar Eid etc.
I was in Lahore in 1991 but I could hardly find a good plate of biryani over there. I also lived in Islamabad during 1990-1991 and I used to get in the name of biryani a bowl of salan and a plate of plain rice at Pindi Saddar. I could not find better haleem and nihari over there till an outlet was opened by a Karachi resturant in G-9 Markaz.
However the karahi ghost and kebabs over there were really yummy and also balti gosht. We often used to eat fried kebabs at Bunny near Asghar Mall and chotay kebabs at Iqbal Mohallah in Saddar.

Humudity in Karachi lasts from April to October only!

For your information, Karachi produces best of the following vegetables in the country: Matar, Tomatoes, Mirch, Gawar, Tori, Louki etc!

Diversity and variety of raw foods is the best in Karachi in this country.

I dont know where you've been going, but if you got salan instead of biryani, then I think you were doing something wrong my friend. That salan walli biryani is actually an arabic dish as far as I can remember. Biryani honestly isnt that popular in Lahore, or wasnt till the late 90s, as its a hyderabadi/sindhi dish after all, not indigenous to that region. If you really wanted good kababs and tikkaz, check out 'bao mohallah' in Saddar, its been there for over 40 years I think. Small little shop, but great food, though hes over priced it bigtime.

You are true. But the variety is not there. Karachi recives fruits and vegetables from all over the country. Balochistan is so close. Plus fruits from NWFP plus the local fruits papepta, cheeko, kaila, coconuts, amorod. There is always loads of fruits here. Anar, seeb, aaro, garma, sarda, angoor, cherry from Balocui****an.

Whenever I used to return from Karachi to Pindi, my Pindi freind always asked me to bring Papeeta and Nariyal from Karachi.

There is no shortage of froms around Karachi as well. Karachi's district Malir, Thatta District, Badin and Hub are full of lush green farms. Karachi and adjoining area produces almost 60% of its milk's usage.
