In Rawalpindi, the best chaat shop is located in Commercial Market, Satellitetown... Its infront of Commercial Park...
The best samosa shop in Pindi is located in Saddar, and is called Kareem Samosas... Its been there for a while now...
The best mithai award goes to Fresco Sweets Rawalpindi... Nerala and all dont even come close. However, for barfi, you gotta give it to Rasheed Sweets in Saddar again.
The best halwa-poori award goes to Pehelwaan in Banni Rawalpindi...
The best naan shop is located infront of Jehangir Restaurants, and theres this khan baba jee who runs the shop alone at 85 years old, but hes a really nice guy and these days hes very ill so you all pray for him. Hes such a nice guy that we have so much trouble paying him as he doesnt accept it.
In islamabad, the best restaurant and pizza shop award goes to Papasallis... We have been going there since the first day, i.e. in 1991 and its been excellent.
Best Ice-cream, Im not sure, either PM house Rawalpindi, or Hot Spot F7 Islamabad.
Best tikka kabaab award should goto Xenos Melody Restaurants Islamabad, infront of British Council.
In Islamabad, theres also this Agha Khani samosa shop in Molody Market G6, those keemey walla samosas are killers!!!

Agreed with Spock on everything so far. To add to this:
Grotto kee Jalebi on Murree Road (There is only one original Grotto)
Kareem (The samosay waala guy) ke Kasmiri Chai
Bismillah Kulcha House (Madina Market F-8) kay keemay bahrray naan
Bolan (Blue Area) ke Sajji.
Spock any recommendations for a good Chinese place in Islamabad/Pindi?

Yar, I cant believe how I missed Grato ki jaleb in that post!!! Yes, you are right, there are many Gratto shops on Murree Road now, but the original one is the bomb!! Also, anyone who goes there should ask for a paper bag and not a plastic bag as the jalebis arent crisp if you keep them in the plastic bag.
I tried Bolan's sajji once, wah!!!
Muffakkar, glad to see someone who has tried all that stuff in Pindi ;)
Next time you're in pindi, drop a line, and we'll go for some sabaz chai to Kareem's. We will even take ahmedbhai along ;)
As for Chinese, Mainland china (think it got closed) in saddar used to be good, and cheap too. Right now I'd say the great wall in Isloo might be good, but personally I stopped going to chinese restaurants...
Before I start with Lahore Jamil kulfi in Islamabad/pindi
oki so lets start with Lahore:
Food street for almost everything
Village for desi food
Kabana is one of my personal favourites love their nans :-p
Kbabish use to have good food too not sure anymore.
Bundu Khan for chutni
The burger corner in mini market gulberg for best anda shami :k:
Benazir Kulfa for kulfa ofcourse
Freddy’s if you want cool kinda environment. The food though is not according to my taste buds. There high tea is good though :k:
Capri and Model town A block key samosey :k:
Purani Anarkali for Hulwa Poori
Purani Anarkali (Yousaf falooda) for falooda
Islam Poora for best gooli wali
There is tehla walla opposite the daak khana in Lalookhet that sells the best chohlay and dahi baday in Karachi. Also, if you ask nicely, he may even sell you some rounds for your Kalashnikov. :)
Not sure if it still around but...
some of the best Italian food I ever had was at PASTA on Jail Road in Lahore. Lasagna was awesome.
Their salads are great and chicken dishes are also good.

a friend of mine who recently came back from Pakistan told me about this new great restaurant in Karachi called- Mateen Foods. He was like sometime you have to wait in lines to get in!! kind of the wait you get at other big& famous restaurants!
^ jee haan…asal naam hai Chodhry Mateen. The guy started out with selling sheermaals and catering for Quran Khawani and shadis etc..but now has opened a relatively decent restaurant in North Nazimabad Block N…kaafi rush hota hai wahan.
aur us ki biryani to bas haan kabhi kabhaar lines bhi hoti hain-weekends ko to must hoti hain :~)
The Village Restuarant (located in Lahore) was a really good restuarant, when I dined there it was packed with tourists people. They have every Pakistani food there everything from the street stalls to the gourmet dishes set up in buffet style, you eat all you want after paying a fixed price. The outside is real nice to it is designed like a village house with (if I remember clearly) a patched roof and mud brick walls (all fake of course, don't expect it to be the same on the inside).
