Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

thank you for pointing that out. This is the crux of the whole matter. Words speak louder than outlook. She lost it right there.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Do u even know what a fascist is or is that just a word u have learned to belittle anyone that doesnt agree with u?

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Why should it be part of Indian Bengal? Bengalis did not fight to reunite with India, but free themselves. Also, Bengali intellectuals were biggest forces behind creation of Pakistan and 2NT.

Btw, you guys are twisting her words to make it sound like things she did not say. We are stuck in history/past when we should be focusing on the future.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Stop acting like a moderator :)

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

So you are really saying this? She and you were the ones who brought two nation theory and partition history into this. My comments were entirely related to that highly offensive picture.

Wasn't Bengal was an integral part of Pakistan and became the largest province i.e. East Pakistan? Even the 1940 resolution was presented by a Bengali and Pakistan movement had many Bengalis. Heck, even the Muslim League was established in Dhaka in 1906.

Bangladesh is not irrelevant as it proves the worth of two-nation theory. Bengalis are the same on two sides of the border except for the religion.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

I've noticed that some moderators here don't uphold the moral standards of moderation and openly pick sides, which is not considered a good thing in the Cyberspace. Even if that is acceptable here, their policy of post moderation or deletion is not fair. Senior administrators should take notice of this.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

1st I'm not a moderator 2nd you stick to the topic. Also, our mods have right to free speech, too.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

yea...i agree......but it also so happens that the liberty of free speech also gets mixed with the added 'authority' that mods have...... but thats not a topic of discussion is it??

As for putting words in her mouth......it is correct she said it is not relevant today....thats what she said........but i dont focus on individual statements by people........i like to look at the 'whole' of it.......and the message/tone and whatever is said within the lines....

its on those basis that i said that that was her whole premise......obviously you are entitled to interpret it differently than i did.........

.but don't come here calling people dishonest (intellectually or otherwise)..just because they view things differently

P.S......i am very well aware of the standard response here about "don't visit the forums if you don't like it etc"....

Again, if 2nt was such a strong bond Bengal wouldn't Bangladesh today. 2ndly, explain how is 2nt is relevant today? Whats done is can't be undone or maybe it could be like EU someday.

Actually, no. Bangladesh proves 3 nation and possible many nations theory both in India and in Pakistan. Future is unseen.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

I have nothing to say as you are contradicting yourself multiple times. My point was very clear on why there is no greater Bangladesh and why the latter didn't join India.

The 40 years of Bangladeshi independence prove the 2-nation theory. The original theory talked about two nations based on religion and didn't explicitly said that a single country namely Pakistan was to be created. The creation and sustainability of Bangladesh -- and its progress and disputes with India -- thus justifies the 2-nation theory.

Mind you, Bengalis are the real architect of two-nation theory. If you have read history, which I doubt, then you must be aware of the division of Bengal in 1905 that was later reversed.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Whether they are moderators or managers or whatever, they need to follow some basic moral rules of managing an online forum as well as maintain a semblance of impartiality. I've also heard the response you mentioned and it just proves that the moderators/managers don't have the guts to accept that they were wrong and find it easier to lay the onus on others.

I am a member on many forums and none of them are, allow me to say, as unfair moderators/managers as some on GS.

Also online forums are for everyone so everyone has the right to share one's opinion.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

I guess everyone must be a fascist...

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

I had no idea you were being intimidated by my authority. :D Also, I do have multi, but I don't use b/c I don't actively moderate any forum.

Btw, I have never edited anyone's b/c I disagree with his/her povs. However, this is a public & family friendly forum. Mods & admin here are incredibly thick skin & we don't take anything personally, but forum rules apply to all.

Anyways, back to the topic.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Oops - my teenage child was just on this 'family friendly' forum
and saw Marvi's obscene red burqa spread.

I'm upset.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

dude that pic don't belong to Marvi.

If that pic is so offensive then why you all paksitanis watch Bollywood crap in your houses with your sisters and kids? Talk about hypocrisy!

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

Hareem01, two wrongs don't make a right. I am sure you know that. The pic is in her personal blog so she would be the one who put it on. Kindly don't dismiss this fact. She even called BLA as freedom fighters and refused to acknowledge the Kashmir issue and freedom fighters of Kashmir.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

You should be the last person talking about morals. You have such a filthy tongue and in each post you have accused me of disgusting things, have some shame please if you're even a muslim, and if you find that pic so offensive you shouldn't have posted it here.

can't believe how low some people can go to prove themselves Allah ke naik banday...disgusting.

That picture is nothing near the crap you watch in Indian and Pakistani movies but guess what? That is accepted by everyone.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

What the hell is BLA? And I didn't see her acknowledging the Kashmir issue, she said we'll talk about Kashmir but before that talk about your own army killing people in Baluchistan.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

I do not know what the hell is BLA. But BLA stands for Baluchistan Liberation Army. All Pakistanies who are concerned about Pakistan would know what "the hell" is BLA. And no she did not want to talk about the issue of Kashmir. Anyway, Two Nation theory is still relevant. Because we have made it ineffective, hence, the anarchy in Pakistan by the nationalist movements with voices of new provinces in the name of ethnicity. This all goes to show that two-nation theory was there to make many ethnicities as one nation: one ummah with the binding force of religion Islam where non-muslims were given full protection and religious rights as the citizens of Pakistan as well.

Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid

I say expel everyone from Pakistan except the mullahs.
