Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
Maulana Modoodi was an excellent Aaalim..... no doubt......as far as his political ideology is concerned.....doesn't hold any 'weight' ....
So....ok....it took place in 5 weeks.......but my question to you is......why did they go through all that trouble to create Pakistan ?? what was there to gain??
Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
Marvi didn't say that either. I'm not supporting Marvi as I don't know her nor I usually read her blog but in that particular article she didn't mock Islam or Quran.
People thought so otherwise apparently :)
Like I said, people in Pakistan need a rehaul of tameez and morals. Her twitter page has gone nuts.

Why, just because it's against your views? lol

I don't have any personal opinions against or in favour of the partition yet...I'm just in favour of having the tolerance to listen to difference views within tameez ka daira.
Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
^lol not anything ..but it’s true mostly yes they get oversentimental with things that aren’t that important. ab Allah knows better k ye sawab daine wali baat hai unko ya gunnah :halo:
Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
No…its just like you say…people should stick to what they are good at…if he was good at politics Jamaat Islaami wouldn’t be in a state that it is today…
oh wait..i forgot to add ‘lol’ at the end of my comment…
Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
Whatever her opinion or viewpoint but that picture is certainly offensive and disgusting.
Ironically, people don't find that picture offensive but instead love it and are out defending it. They only start talking about tameez ka daira when one shows them the mirror.
Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
These two pigheads (Marvi and ZH) represent two extremes of our society, none of them defines us. Please lets not get into the fight of these two. We have got nothing to do with these two idiotic ****ty and shady characters. Dont let these assholes to create a wedge between us.
Re: Liberal Pakistani activist Marvi Sirmed takes on Zaid Hamid
What does burka has to do with Islam? Its just a garment. Btw, under our clothes all of use naked fyi...if you did not know.
As for the pic, I see nothing wrong with it & its not a naked pic. Its more like artistic pic.
Burka may not have to do with Islam but it certainly has to with a lot of Muslims' sensitivity.
Therefore it is offensive to them.
Modesty is an Islamic value. Nudity is the opposite. Therefore this picture could be offensive to Muslims on that count.
Then mixing nudity with an article of garment that is considered a symbol of modesty by many Muslims in Pakistan at least ( keeping the view of burqa as a symbol of oppression out of the discussion ) would be even more offensive.
This is easy logic and not rocket science.
And the picture is most certainly more than partially nude if not completely and sexually provocative.
It may be considered artistic by one population but you cannot deny that it would be offensive to most Muslims.
By the way, here is a hypothetical question - would you find this picture offensive if it was one of your close family member's ?

Anyways, back to the topic. She is right about lot of things, but more about how we as a society act so hypocritically about everything.
What could ignite a controversy is that in her article she uses 'Burqa', 'hijab' and 'pardah' interchangeably. And we know that 'pardah' is an integral part of Islam. So, I think it is bound to be controversial no matter how artistic or figurative the picture might be.

Let not side track the issue. You should argue for against her points instead talking about some computer generated image that has nothing to do with the debates. As for family mine or yours, if a grown up person does what s/he does out of free will I have no problem with it.

just giving my opinion that this is what majority of people would think. :) and about the program I already have given my comments about both ZH and Marvi sirmad earlier. I don't see a point in repeating.

So what if it is offensive to some people? A lot of what some Maulvis say is offensive to me and many people I know. We don't go around carrying on about how offended we are.
If something Marvi says or writes offends you, then stop listening to her or visiting her website and stop complaining or trying to shut her up.

She's right in saying that Pakistan wasn't created on any religious or cultural differences, it was purely based on the dividing of some provinces based on the majority of muslims living in those areas.
Pakistan was created on the basis of two nation theory.
If their wasnot any cultural or religious differences between Hindus and Muslims, then their wasnot any need of division.
