Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
Big deal. But now that PMLN has effectively got rid of decent guy like Dr Abdul Malik, let's see what this "stalwart" of Sardar Zehri does for his people. I hope PMLN takes some blame for his incompetence at the end of the term.
Yes its Big Deal as the so called Punjabi Party has seats from every province but the so called national party has ZERO from Balouchistan. That is ZERO as to Zilch. I am just pointing out the fact here Guy. When ever you will call PMLN punjabi party you will get a dose of FACTS and Truth Period. As for getting rid of Dr. Malik, so my friend there was an AGREEMENT between NAP, PMLN and PKMAP about how the government will be shared as all of them got Votes. There is no getting rid of here, its the execution of agreement. Dr. Malik is perfectly happy where he is.
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
You and your useless facts and GO TO HELL
Why because these facts effectively shut you up? or is it because there is not much of a response that is logical other than crying about a Utopian world? GO TO HELL but remember I will follow you and negative babies like you over there as well with Facts and Figures. I dont give a damn about likes of you, my purpose here is to simply bring the facts and figures for silent majority that is reading, so as to provide a balanced view. You babies have been spitting bakwas unchecked for quite some time now, but new sheriff is in town.

Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
looks like PMLN propaganda bot has no response for dropping important projects for Orange line.
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
I kinda remember that Lahore High Court stopped the project? Any news @desert_bird? What were the reason. As far as I remember, there were some protests and I thought that might be politically motivated, but intervention of High Court and rumors that it might affect some historical places make this project controversial. I don’t know much about Lahoris, but I know they are very much concerned about their historical heritage. So which historical places will be damaged due to this project?
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
How on earth a sickeningly expensive loan infested lollipop project that endangers not one, not two, but 11 heritage sites got approval in the first place? This is how dictator Showbaz Sharif had destroyed institutions in Punjab. Read the report, there isn’t any convincing evidence that Planning Permission even approved this project.
Punjab gets land and ‘permission’ to build Orange line even when it ruins lives of local communities and threatens dozen heritage sites, but Peshawar doesn’t get approval for a freaking bus lane despite two years of constant struggle. Then they say there are no inequalities in Pakistan and revenge politics.
**LHC suspends work on Orange Line train project
**In other words, National Brother in Law Accountant Ishaq Dar delayed funding for Gawadar Pipeline. These PMLN walas will never ever be sincere to other provinces.
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
I don't think lack of planing resulting in destruction of historical heritage sites is by any way anything that should be excused. On one side, our governments don't spend much for preservation of sites and on other side they turned deaf ear to the objection of UNESCO. Wow, just wow. Someone saying that (somewhere... may be in this very thread) that this will attract tourists to Lahore. jab baans hi na rahe ga to bansri kahan se baje gi?
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
With the way ISIS has destroyed Syria's world heritage sites and disgusted every living soul in the civilised world, I hope UN takes a serious notice and note it down as not just cultural vandalism, but an attack on minority rights. Historic temple and a church, Sufi shrines are in danger because of this brain-dead, corruption and loan ridden show off project.
These Sharif brothers have turned Lahore into their baap ki jageer. The heritage sites of Lahore are reflection of the shared identity, culture and history of the whole of subcontinent! How on earth Showbaz managed to get away with this?
Any word of condemnation of closet PMLN supporters?
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
Lol
Its cute, they are now crying like a little girl..
When u ask them which site is destroyed they'll say, you don't know, about 5000 year ago there was a grave here, now that grave have got lost some 4,999 years and current govt instead of looking for it is building a train....
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
who is crying?? ![]()
I don’t think it is even remotely funny not to consider safety of historical heritage while planing for such projects. Or Sharifs are trying to do same with Lahore as their hami o murabbi in KSA did to Muslim heritage in the name of expansion?
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
None of the heritage site is damaged or destroyed…period
Infact near shalimar gardens, property of people was bought to make a turn to save what one may say is ruins of some anceint building…
Don’t fall for the propaganda..
Earlier it was that Momin pura graveyard is going to be destroyed…nothing happened…
Then it was Chuburji..again false..what next??? Why fixing GT road because it is some thousand year old heritage???
Plz talk with facts…name the heritage site destroyed???
On the other hand some dating points are no more secret and have been effected badly. Wonder if they can be classified as heritage site…
Re: Lahore Metro Train : Orange Line
Speaking about the heritage sites, is graveyard of Mian Mir shrine of importance? If answer is yes, then lanat on Aleem Khan and co. Who tried to occupy the parts of graveyard and cried foul when stopped...

I don't know much about geography of Lahore, but Lahore High Court issuing Stay order for the project for security of heritage site (construction within 200 meters of the sites) does carry weight. The Court probably also refers to UNESCO's objection against the project, so there must be something damaging that Court intervened.
People had a justification when they raised concerns against PPP for arranging Sindh festival in Moen-jo-Daro ruins and if any project is affecting Lahore's heritage, I don't think that it can be shunned by saying that heritage sites used as dating points are no more a secret. I know people (couples) visit Kamran's Bara dari and so is the case with Quaid e Azam's mazar. Does that provide us opportunity that if we start a project near main Numaish Chorangi, Karachi we don't bother about destruction of founder's mausoleum? May be we can find examples from other countries how they cared for their heritage and didn't destroy heritage for the so called development.
For GT road, I think there is a difference between a road and a building. Don't know if UNESCO consider roads a heritage? Correct me if any road has been given status of heritage by UNESCO. GT road was first developed by Asoka and then Sher Shah. Akbar did also added inns on the way. so historically, everyone developed the road. I would definitely have issue if a building on GT road is affected (say Hiran Minar. correct me if its not on GT road), but repairing / expanding 1000 kilo meter road is not that is same as causing damage to buildings near the road.

look, no one can dispute for one second the significance of historical sites. and punjab govt or any govt should do anything to preserve those sites. period. and if punjab govt is not doing enough, shame on them and everyone shd come together to protect those sites.
that being said, i will also say that throughout my life i have observed people in Pakistan opposing developmental projects based on political affiliations. water dams, motorway projects, highway expansions, ring roads, new bridges, canal expansions, new irrigation infrastructure you name it and you will find stern opposition driven by political agenda.
if we only go by opposition version, nothing will ever be built and if we only go by govt version, the net result will be an over-expensive and overly expansive product. i think reality mostly lies somewhere in the middle. kalabagh dam being the prime example.
