Re: Khuda Ke Liye
People are very keen on opening threads on this issue in Shor Sharaaba, but my intent is different.
One poster mentioned how they were accosted by people from a mosque asking him to not see the movie, because Shohaib Mansoor has insulted God and Islam.
If mods can put a poll in here, I'd appreciate it.
What are your thoughts. Should a true God fearing (and loving) muslim not watch such a movie, and why?
I have not seen this movie, but I do have some feedback about freedom of speech.
The true intent of Islam is becoming idolfree... and idols are not necessarily deities set up beside the One True Creator of this Universe; they also exist in the form of preconcieved notions about God and his intent of putting us on this planet.
From what I understand Islam (peaceful submission) to be, one of the things in this quest is to let go of the idea that God needs our protection and defence. If anything, we want to protect a certain way of life: A set of notions and wants with regards to how we want to live.
That said, such notions and wants constitute our opinion, and those, from what I understand, are of personal nature (i.e they cannot be imposed). No wonder "There is NO COMPULSION in the DEEN/Way-of-Life".
So if someone does not want to believe in God, or has a bone to pick with God, then it's between that person and HIS God (rather, with his idol; nothing but his pre-conceived notion). It is that person's OPINION, and NO ONE has a right (or ability) to take that away from him. Everyone is accountable for his/her own actions...
Imposition of hardlined opinions that are grossly inadequate for a certain demographic, be they from a person, a minority, majority or even the state, is wrong from what I understand. So as long as both, this gentleman, and the mullahs, try to present a case as to why they are saying what they're saying, I have no problem with either opinion.
I even look forward to seeing this movie since NOW I AM CURIOUS (thankyou dear MULLAHs for helping this gentleman's cause).
