In our mosque in NY, they have camera fit in to telecast speaker’s oration on the third floor via TV.
They sell videos/DVDs of Islamic lectures in Masjid’s Library. Masjid’s Management is mostly from Tanzeem-e-Islami.
Tanzeem-e-Islami’s website tanzeem.org has video lectures of Dr. Israr Ahmed available.

AQ yeah I am talking about the tableeghi jamaat. they told me TV is haram, and I responded that in that case farman e ilahi, tilawat, azaan, iqra etc should not be shown on haram media.
They kinda gave up on me after a while.

Well I grew up in a Deobandi family, and several Ulamaa from my own family use to watch TV and have even Aired on TV, so it ould be that a faction of the Deobandi sect that has intermixed with Wahabis and declared TV as restricted/haraam (do not quote me on it though since Wahabis too watch and Air on TV in Saudi Arabia)

I wanted to add that I just went to the movie site and reviewed the storyline! I do not see anything negative there! Being a former music artist (yes I've been one and I do not see any conflict with music and the Quranic message,) I must say that I loved the soundtracked prologue to the site!!
I went to the site and agreed GREAT music. Cant wait to see movie.

A fatwa has been issued against the movie by all the renowned deobandi ulemas in Karachi.

Well M. M Yousuf Lodhianwi was one of those ulemas who declared TV haram.
Interesting! He is not a graduate of the Dar-ul Uloom Deoband from what I understand however. Any of it's graduates you can reference?
