Hinduism is the oldest religion so obviously it will have more to say about “everything.” The older the religions, the sillier the interpretations of their texts. Your example was beyond ridiculous, Zafra. Also, I have not seen any Hindus debating that their religious teachings or morals are timeless. On the other hand, I have yet to see a Muslim debating Islamic traditions and morals are time specific.

Why not? Did Allah tell you he won’t speak to mankind again? Did Allah say you won’t find him if you looked for him? Did Allah say you must speak to him through the Qur’an? Just because one believes the Qur’an to be the word of Allah doesn’t mean those will be the only words spoken.

Since you are attempting to put forth a very detailed and pedantic argument then I ask that when you quote me you do it in context.

My suggestion that redvelvet was “frustrated and venting” referred to her sarcasm related to Cheegum’s post about praying fajr namaz and not in any way to her objection to the video in question in that thread.

Let’s keep the facts straight and not misrepresent someone in an effort to make ourselves look intelligent.

There is one verse in the Gita where Krishna says

If a Brahmin does the work of a Shudra he has sinned
if a Shudra does the work of a Brahmin he has sinned

I interpret that as each should do the duty assigned to him. For that time, it may have made sense. Not any more. I reject that verse. Period.

There would be similar verses in the Quran that may not make sense for today

So point here is, we can always pick and choose to throw potshots at a Religion. And insult it. Some choose to do it. The vast majority - including here - don’t.

Please. Sticking your head in the sand when it comes to religion is the dumbest thing to do. And yes there is stuff in Islam which can not be defend by modern day standards. Surah Nisa has a ayat where it is okay for a husband to hit his wife.

In today’s age is that acceptable? Nope.
But it is part of the faith? Yup.
Can I defend it? Nope.
Am I gonna get my panties in a twist when some points it out? Nope. Because it is reality.

Same in Christianity. It states that if a woman is not a virgin when you marry her she should be stoned. Again:
