Karachi election results in detail.

I was looking at Karachi election result and found it very interesting. I was expecting PTI gains in Karachi was at expense of MQM, but that was not the case, as MQM may have lost votes in some constituencies to PTI, but at others MQM gained votes. It seems, biggest vote loser to PTI was PPP.

Most interesting situation was PPP and ANP getting wiped out. I do not know why, but it would be nice to think about it. I do not think such situation would last, as I feel PPP may bounce back in future, regaining their votes from PTI and other parties. PPP was once the strongest party in Karachi, getting 3 out of 7 NA seats in 1970 election. Please comment.

I know that when some people look at Karachi election results, they get tantrum, claiming rigging and intimidation as cause of big MQM mandate. If I accept their baseless and absurd claims, then there is no need for analysis, as when rigging and intimidation is the criteria of winning elections in Karachi that MQM has mastered, than MQM would keep winning seats with big margin, regardless of ground realities, and one should even forget talking about election in Karachi.

That is the reason, before putting down the analysis, I am mentioning some facts that people should ponder, as their claims against known and verifiable facts can only give them tantrum but would not bring any change in ground realities of Karachi and Karachi election results.

It is possible that rigging happens in Karachi just like rigging happens all across Pakistan in election. But massive rigging, all by MQM, that is affecting election results, I believe that is not only preposterous propaganda but also day dreaming and bias thinking.

Fact is that, if MQM was rigging poll in big way, than no way they would have lost NA-250 to PTI, especially when they won this seat in 2008 with 8000 vote lead (very low lead margin when we compare this win with other MQM wins where margins itself could be over 100,000 votes). With such nominal lead and with so many new factors along with PTI getting knee jerk popularity support and votes across Pakistan including Karachi, main seat target to hold for MQM would have been NA-250. Re-polling happened on 43 out of 180 polling stations, and that means, IF … I mean IF MQM rigs to win, than MQM would have massively rigged NA 250 seats getting over 100000 vote lead from polling station that had no re-polling. Surprisingly, MQM even lost on those 137 polling stations that had no re-polling … where PTI got 60000 votes and MQM got 30000 votes.

End result shows MQM do not rig election. On the other hand, known proof of rigging by any political party in any Karachi constituency is only one, that is party candidate taking ballot papers, polling stamps and polling boxes to polling stations, that happened in NA-250, where Arif Alvi (PTI) was caught doing so, and when questioned admitted that he did took in his car polling papers, polling stamps and polling boxes to polling stations, courtesy of ECP and authorities conducting election.

On the other hand, if rigging and intimidation is the result of massive votes MQM gets, than there would not have been huge number of vote loss in some strongest constituencies of MQM and PTI gaining that huge votes loss from those constituencies. However, if anyone claims that MQM votes are due to rigging and intimidation, then if that is the criteria of getting votes in Karachi, than they should also claim that PTI vote gains in Karachi is also due to rigging and intimidation.

Anyhow, Karachi overall election results of 19 constituencies. Election is postponed on 1 constituency (NA-254) due to ANP candidate killed by Kharjees.

Comment: Election held at 19 constituencies, election on 1 constituency is postponed due to ANP candidate killed by Taliban Kharjees:

MQM: Gained 1 seat held 15 seats. Expect to hold 1 more seat, Lost 1 seat. (Overall, same number of seats as before). Total seats, 16 out of 19 (expect 17 out of 20 Karachi seats, as what they got in 2008 election). Mix result as far as votes are concerned. Gained votes in 10 constituencies … Lost votes in 9 constituencies.

PPP: Lost 2 seats and held 1 seat.
Substantial vote lost in 18 out of 19 constituencies election held.

PTI: Gained a seat. Had substantial gain in votes, mostly at the expense of PPP, though also gained votes from MQM in some constituencies, especially where MQM had overwhelming vote bank. Gained votes from ANP (who got wiped out) and other parties did not contested.

ANP: Lost almost all votes they held in Karachi, most moving to other parties, especially PTI.

PMLN: Gained 1 seat at the expense of PPP. Some increase in vote banks, again at the expense of PPP, ANP, and religious parties.

Religious parties, especially Muttahida Deeni Mahaz showed their presence getting few thousand votes from various constituencies. JI, JUP (Noorani) and JUP (Fazlu) also showed their presence in some constituencies.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

okay thank you for the analysis :chai:

Did you show this to “bhai” as well? probably that will calm him down a bit.

can someone move this to Jokes section?

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

Saleem are you part of the new Rabitaa Committee now?

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

man, one must be BIGGGG fan of bhai to spend this much time on analysis and at the end coming up with conclusion that MQM do not rig elections

great effort by the way thumbsup if you did it on your own, i appreciate the time and effort, if its from MQM Shoshal media gang, it shows that they are professionals

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

^^^ Why it is so hard to read or accept something that is taken from ECP election result? If you find any quoted figure wrong then you have every right to point that out, but if not, accept them ... rather, becoming personal and showing tantrum (the way Imran shows all the time).

Do you all think that people who have voted MQM are not Pakistani ... or that their votes should not be accounted unless they vote the parties you like?

Grow up and start acknowledging, accepting, appreciating and respecting views and vote preferences of other Pakistanis. Learn to live and vote the way you like, and let others live and vote the way they like. If anyone wants that others respect their views and voting preferences, then learn to respect views and preferences of others.

You do not have to be supporter of a party to do that, but the way you all behave, show tantrum, and comment, it seems, either you do not consider others as Pakistani and consider yourself as only Pakistani, or are behaving as paid servant of powers who want to divide and break up Pakistan from within.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

no one has question the figures (yet) why are you feeling insecure?

i'm all for everyone voting the way they like, but not for rigging and politics of bori-band-lash and talwaroon-say-chalni

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

metaphorical usage should not be taken at face :chai:

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

No. Actually, I am not member of any political party. Anyhow, at present, amongst political parties running in Pakistan, I believe MQM is most sincere to their cause, and I believe party has potential to break in and lead Pakistan from everywhere, if managed properly and start doing proper campaigning.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

I am not feeling insecure, and why should I?

If you think MQM rigs, then you have same feeling about MQM what I have about PMLN, PPP, PTI and other parties ... plus to me it is obvious that PTI was involved in rigging Karachi NA 250 constituency, because 'Arif Alvi' was caught pants down (taking polling papers, stamps and boxes to polling stations, that he admitted on TV). Anyhow, though I have feelings that parties rig election in Pakistan, difference is that, I do not show tantrum.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

Saleem: Your conclusion that MQM do not rig elections has been thrown out with the infintine video of 'patang per thappay' in karachi and hyderabad

You spend quite a bit of time on analysis. Wish you could have done something more useful than trying to prove MQM does not rig elections. Even Nabil Gabol smiled sheepishly at his 170K vote count on tv. He did not have much to say.

Good try, but kaam na aayi.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

The party had a chance to break in during the past five years, as people were genuinely fed up with PPP and to some extent PMLN. But the party took no interest in rectifying the image problem it has in the rest of the country.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

As far as PTI has not lured MQMs voters is concerned, I wonder why Bhai is acting so funny these days. And by the way I know many karachiites who have been MQM supporters previously vote PTI this time.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

In above analysis, I tried to be free from all biases as possible. I did analysis about Karachi result, because I was born in Karachi and I believe Karachi results affect me most, plus I know of feelings in Karachi more than any other part of Pakistan.

Anyhow, I appreciated PTI and Mutahida Deeni mahaz for inroads they made in Karachi, and appreciated PTI of grabbing most vote loss of PPP, ANP as well as PTI denting MQM vote bank in some constituencies.

But then, what can I do with mind-set of people who think that all fair analysis using true facts and figure should go to joke section because they do not like it. On the other hand, all jokes should be appreciated as long as it makes the party they like look bigger and respectable than they are.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

Actually the image got a real boost when the drunk lunatic leader started throwing cruses at other political leaders and started abusing them on live TV.. threatening to kill journalist and political rivals. All the hard core criminals in Pakistan got a real leader talking according to their aspirations. MQM got a real boost in popularity amongst all the gangsters and thugs.. trying to enhance their careers.. through violence and killings..

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

I did mentioned that MQM lost votes to PTI in some constituencies.

As for MQM showing concern, that is what one should expect from all parties who care about voters and did not increased their votes or seats in election. Probably MQM was thinking that they would increase their vote bank further in Karachi, and increase their presence especially in areas outside Karachi, but they did not.

So, what is big deal about party reorganisation and cleaning oneself? I believe this should happen in all parties throughout and especially after every election regardless of the result, as this is process to make party better and more accountable (to party themselves and to the voters).

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

Funny use of terms...

Propaganda = Analyasis
Murder and kidnapping of members = Cleaning

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

did you put down MQM by mistake when you intended to put down PMLN and PTI? :)

The way Imran behave, he looks gangster anyhow, and as far as being drunkard, I bet that amongst all leading politicians in Pakistan, one can assume that Imran is the one who drinks (with more certainty) ... but the way Thug Nawaz behave, he looks more a conman, liar and thief. I am sure he must be laughing on people who voted him, because PMLN voters voted to make a thug and their master their servant from whom they expect to get served. :)

It really surprises me how great expectation PMLN voters have, voting thug, liar, and thief to look after their future.

Re: Karachi election results in detail.

the biggest dirt on MQM is the drunk don sitting in London. Without him, MQM can NOT be cleansed no matter how hard it tries
