All the names u have mentioned have always been or are class acts against spin or any other form of bowling, Inzi is part of the same elite club.
3-6months means pre-post worldcup, for me that is too big a gamble for Pakistan cricket. Having said that, I accept your challenge. And I will like to make one more correction, we are not 'bashing' Akmal, our criticism is based on Akmal's dismal performance behind the stumps, the same treatement will and sud be meted out to any other national player. Akmal is no exception.
Not that I am for replacing AKMAL with ZULQARNAIN as of this moment but your logic has basic flaw.
Unless you PLAY ZULQARNAIN you never know if he can take catches or not. IF at some later stage we have to replace AKMAL with ZULQARNAIN it will be because of the fact that AKMAL is not taking catches and not because of the reason that ZULQARNAIN is taking catches. It is very natural that if ONE THING DOES NOT WORK, you TRY an alternative.
For instance if one prescribed medicine (A) is not working, doctors often change the medicine (B) and they never think that “Why should we change to B as if B is working”. They TRY medicine B
When it comes to playing match winning innings these guys are kids compared to the great Inzi. Your personal dislike of Paksitni players should not cloud your judgement.
Why wait after 3 -6 months, why can't you include the reminder of the series and also include the next 3-6 months to see if Akmal has improved or not. May be is a learner and needs extra lessons and time to improve.
Oh..yeah not bashing Akmal, but you agree that he shuold be drop. Let see...okie dokie
50 years from now when ppl will talk about Inzi they will remember him for his stroke play, placement, confidence, composure, match winning centuries and ability to play any form of bowling attack with utmost ease. His running btw the wickets will get a footnote mention only.
Yes, I wud like Akmal to be dropped as the wicketkeeper and for good reason. And if he improves, I will be the first to welcome him. Right now, he needs to go as Pak wicketkeeper and give some other player a chance. After all, this is not my personal jageer or anyone else's, we are talking about Pak national team.
Well put. Guys lets face it, even if some of you want him dropped he wont be. Because woolmer and inzi are gonna think that this innings must have given him a huge confidence boost and will somehow his keeping altogether.
This thread is full of patheechar arguments one can come up with to defend a mediocre player. Looks like some relative of Kamran on GS to me.
Why in the world Inzi was brought in this discussion!
Its simple.
Akmal is not performing for a long time. Let him sit in the next game and bring Zulq for a try.
Personally I think team mangement might not replace Akmal for third test, as they might be thinking of his batting abilities will be required against the SA attack and a new comer like Zulq will not be able to adjust on SA pitches, even if he is a good enough batsman.
if any body is wondering about zulqi , here are his domestic stats

We already have a long tail - Shoaib/Shabbir, Sami, Kaneria and Asif. Akmal ofcourse is an accomplished batsman as he has even opened in ODIs. No one really knows how ZH will bat and it would be asking too much of him to perform both with the gloves and with the bat in such an important game as the decider at Cape Town. So the time to give Akmal a break and to assess ZH is not the third test but maybe the first 2-3 one-dayers against SA.
Yes Akmal has been pushing his luck the past few tours. But you're living in la la land if you expect Pakistan to drop a key member of the side just a few months prior to the WC and begin grooming a newbie. Despite all his flaws, Akmal has had his match winning moments, and such experience doesn't come easily (ask Farhat, Hameed, Butt, Iqbal etc.)
I don't think Akmal has always been THIS bad, in fact when he first came on the scene and even in the recent England tour of Pakistan, I remember some fantastic keeping from him. On the Australian tour Healy was very impressed. So it's not a question of whether he has what it takes or not, just a matter of whether he can pull it all together. Lets hope for his and Pakistan's sake that he can, and soon.

This is exactly why I said at the beginning of the thread...that this is a waste of time. If we can atbest give the guy a rest and play Zulqy just to see what his worth is and to have a backup exposed to international light.
I can't believe how people who wanted to hang akmal until yesterday have taken a 360 just after just one inning of good luck batting .
quote form bbc
"but Akmal flirted dangerously outside the off-stump and a number of nicks just evaded the slips and gully fieldsmen."
had he been caught, imagine what gappies would be writing about him.
we have to plan long term and can not make judgements based on few good or bad performance.
Bottom line is we need a second wicket keeper for what if .. situations.
like what if akmal gets injured during one of the world cup's matches. would you like to experiment with zuli or some newbie then?
[quote=Captain1]
Do you know what 360 means?
Here let me break it down for ya
1 good performance = i will name my son kamran akmal = 0 degree
1 bad performance = akmal duntoo - maaro - nikaalo = 180 degree
another good innings = akmal sada sher hai baqi her pher hai = 360 degree
Back to my point
Akmal will play for a long time and he has a bright future but why would you wana burn him out til his performance starts to degrade?
