Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
How can introducing Zulqernain saab will solve the problemo...? Is he playing Test matches against South Africa and taking catches?
DUH?? How can he if not given the chance? Supporting cast or liability, I repeat issue here is his wicketkeeping skills which are below average. This si the big league, you are supposed to be on top of your game to be in thenational side, there is no room for repeated mistakes.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Top three - lol.
Who would be in top three with and who would be below him?
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
You are contradicting yourself...mature player...will learn from mistakes...maybe Pakistan sud put a L sign on his back to show others 'wicketkeeper Learning'.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Issue here is Akmal's wicketkeeping that is below average, has that in anyway changed, I seriously doubt that. Pakistan has two choices, they can drop Akmal entirely from the side and give Zulqernain a chance as wicketkeeper OR they can retain Akmal as a batsman and drop Yasir Hameed and bring Zulqernain as the wicketkeeper. Second one is my preferred choice.....as for the diehard Akmal fans, target was 191 Pakistan sud have cruised through, scoring a streaky 50+ is not that a big deal, I repeat it was Yunus Khan who deserves all the credit in the second inning.

Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Yes well said or put a ‘L’ sign on his back…![]()
He was on the learning tour of England as this was his first tour there and still learning on the tour of South Africa.
May be he has passed his theory but still learning the practical…
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Those repeated mistakes are because he is new to the condition and is his first tour, few players whether they are batsmen, bowlers or captains shine in their opening tour. I am not contradicting myself, every player who is mature learns from his mistakes...we do not put a sign on him.
Lets do this, from 3-4 months from now. Re-open this thread and discuss his improvements, if he is the same. I will say you are right but be ready to accept your wrong assesments.

No wicket keeper can - not even the likes of Gilchrist etc :D
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
CP, It is going to be like this, Inzmam is a flat track bully cannot play in overseas game. Look what happened to that discussion.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Akmal is around since 2002 and has played 31 tests and 57 ODI.
Dropping catch and stumps off Danesh and Hafeez has anything to do with first time in SA?
Dropping straight catches off Gul/Nzair against WI on Pakistani tracks has anything to do with his early years ?
The fact from the first day is that he is a mediocre keeper. His keeping has not improved in last 5 years of International career, but has started declining since last spring. Nobody can explain what kind of bad patch is this. He has got advise of Rashid, Bari and Moin. They spent time with him and has been pin pointing his errors.
I think he must be drop for a series or two and let create Moin/Rashid type of competition between him and Zulqi/xyz. This way he will feel the hunger to improve.
Having said that he is a valuable bat for test cricket (often shines in ODI as well). But if his primary job is costing us some crucial dismissals (the players that later on go onto pile up runs because of the chance they were given early in their innings) then he cannot always repay the dept with his bat. He is dropping catches/stumps more frequently then ever. This is his fourth series with bad gloves.

I agree with you, every mature player learns from their mistakes, that is a sign of a true professional, but that cannot be said for Akmal cause he has failed to demonstrate any learning skills. One has to look back at his career (W/K) and it has been one directional, downhill.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
You are wrong, he had few bad Test matches and that is about it. He has his fair share of great moments with bat and behind the bails. Are you willing to take the challenge?

It doesn't really take long for great players in the making to establish themselves and really show thier true worth and talent.
Look at Asif he hasn't been playing long and has again proved himself that he will be a awesome baller in years to come, but the over-rated Akmal needs more time.
Even if he improves - he will be an OK player but not someone outstanding or brilliant..........
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Not true. Inzi is one of the greatest bats Pakistan has ever produced, your analogy is not only incorrect it is also inappropriate clubbing the class of Inzi with mediocre players like Akmal.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
It was a great wicket to ball on not bat. Look at batting rather bowling, if bowlers hit the right spots, they take wickets and Asif is mastering the same profession.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Akmal played a great innings today but maybe in the end he probably only compensated for the errors he made and I am sure that the dropped catches and missed stumpings in this match cost us more than 50 runs.
Having said that :k: for his innings today.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
Inzamam is always regarded medicore as a batsman, his running between the wickets, communication and playing against spinners but he managed to have this career because he is mature and Akmal is the same.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
You have to be kidding me!! Inzi has never been regarded as mediocre, maybe out of form but never mediocre. Me think u r clutching for straws. The moment Inzi arrived on the cricket scene he has never been regarded as average or mediocre, lazy yes but then again that was one of greatest talents that helped him through his long, unending career. Communication skills, yeah the guy has problems in that dept but then again with his class batting wtf cares. Suspect against spin? Which player are u talking about? Inzi has always been a great player of spin. So leave Inzi out of this and stick with your babe Akmal, guy with the "L" sign.
Re: KAMRAN AKMAL!
You are missing the point buddy and cluthing to straws, Inzmam always had problems running between the wickets and playing spinners when compared against Javed, Sachin, Lara, Waugh, Dravid and Pointing but he managed to have a career like this. I am giving you a counterpoint, re-open this thread after 3-6 months, if issue regarding Akmal's wicketkeeping is the same. I will retreat and say you are right but if you and other who are bashing him should be willing to take it.
