ismaili/aga khani

your question

answer to your question

just out of our love for prophets or imams, we can say that they knew software engineering or about the rain forest ecosystem of brazil without all of that being taught to them, i think the facts tell us otherwise.. and besides, we know that Huzoor (S.A.W) himself taught many things to imam Hassan(A.S) and imam Hussain (A.S).. a simple example.. did hazrat Adam (A.S) know that he was goin to eat the fruit in heaven and be sent down to earth..not really rite... so same is the case wid imams.. coz all prophets n the imams that followed had the same noor of Adam(A.S)did't they???

You can twist anything if you're going to take things out of context. You're actually ignoring half of the ayah.

Lets read the full ayah:
12.** Verily We shall give life to the dead, and We record that which they send before and that which they leave behind, and of all things have We taken account in a clear Book (of evidence). **

If we accept your interpretation that says "we have put everything in zahir imam" or in other words imam zahir has all the knowledge but it's not true because your imam zahir doesn't have all the knowledge.

And also how do you know that your aga khani imam is that person because Quran does not tell any detail of your imam?

PS: I said before if you're interested you can buy the book and study it.

A suggestion:

though there is a simple answer (with "Nass" we know). The above question is not for this moment. we should leave it for some other time. it may take the discussion to wrong direction.

thx

ok here's the thing.. you r bein ignorant.. u think that whatever u hav been taught or whatever u think is right... that's not true.. u said that my imam does not hav all the knowledge... hareem01 jee, my qustion to u is that are u God who is tellin me all that.. u r posting as if u know everythin about the imam when infact u reject the very concept of imamat..

and when the holy quran clearly mentions about the zahir imam, it doesn't have to be any specific imam.. it talks about whoever is the imam of the time.. we can say that it was about hazrat Ali (A.S) when he was alive in this world and was the imam of his time.. whoever is the living imam, is the zahir imam... the meaning of the word zahir is someone or something that appears and and is present at the moment..

Question: why do you use "Zahir" for Imam. Shouldnt it be Imam-e-Zamaan or Imam-e-Waqat?

well yea, by zahir imam i mean imam-e-zamaan.. zamane ka imam.. actually that's what we call our imam most of the time.. imam-e-zaman.. zahir imam is just to emphasize on the verse of the holy quran talking about imam-um-mubin..

Yes i'm ignorant of your imam's details about having all the knowledge.....so please enlighten me how do you know that he has all the knowledge and where is the proof for that?

Also, as you said it can be any imam so for Ahmadis for example it's their imam Mirza israr Ahmed who's their leader of this zamana, do you agree?

I apologize that i am commenting on your question. I think your question is not valid.

Reason:
Sometimes believes dont need physical proofs. not because that we cant prove. its because WE dont have ability to SEE.

I think the above statement is very simple to understand the concept. however i am giving you the example.

  • miner details of day Qayyamah we believe in are just though hadith but not proved.
  • All the knowledge in Quran; we believe in, but its WE who dont understand because of our own deficiency not because of 'that Quran dont have All knowledge.

  • Quran says Shaheed is alive; but we dont understand. however there is no physical proof.

Similarly:
It is a believe that Imam can have All the knowledge, it can be proven with "logic" / Aql. and the "need". but piratically it is not proven because we dont have the ability to test it.

For example: A teacher can test the student. a student can not test the teacher that how much knowledge my teacher has.? If the student cant test, the student can say that teacher have no are less knowledge. but its the student's ability which is stopping him not to test. (here i am talking about the real teacher, not those people who just start teaching with less knowledge)

Similarly:
Allah gave A lots of (almost All) the knoweldge to our prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but we dont have a tool to test it. Since we dont have a tool to test it. its our defeciency; and we cant say that He had very limited knowledge.

Same is the concept of knowledge with Imam. This is the not the problem. but the problem is who is the right Imam. ?

Re: ismaili/aga khani

^We can't test the Imam for knowledge we don;t have or is much beyond out time, but we test him on what we do know at present, right.

Re: ismaili/aga khani

^^
Yes, for sure, however first of we have to find the right one.

2ndly It did happen many times before when people tried to let the Imam (AS) down, but they failed. Prophet (PBUH) and then Imam (AS), who claimed for his knowledge did answer every question which was asked. and people returned back unsucessfuly with their false objectives.

Re: ismaili/aga khani

hey tom boy, i had a friend aga khani, she never said salam instead ya ali to fellow aga khani.

but she used to reply with w'salam when sunni greet with salam.

there's nuthin wrong wid sayin ya ali madad.. ismailis, shias, sufis and many sunnis also say it.. only wahabis don't say it.. wahabis don't even say ya muhammad madad.. as far as salam is concerned, ismailis and all other muslims can say salam to anyone, even non-muslims because salam means invoking peace on others.. so in short, ismailis say both salam and ya ali madad. also ya allah madad and ya muhammad madad. Allah made prophets and imams as waslia for us so there's no harm in sayin ya muhammad or ya ali.. even Prophet S.A.W said ya ali madad at the time of ghazwa-i-uhad...

Re: ismaili/aga khani

Question: I understand that Imam of Time is the final authority. However do you have a system of Ijtihad/jurisdiction /Jurisprudence. Is there any recomended book to read. thx

well, ijtihad in what matters?? n i can't remember of any recommended book other than the holy quran rite now.. :P

Re: ismaili/aga khani

This seems you have a strong belief in your faith, but your knowledge about your region is weak. or you maybe dont give importance to your books. or maybe you want to keep those books away from general public. which shows weakness in religion to me. anyways. dont worry.

Question: What are your future plans. like other sects 12rs and sunni believe in Mehdi, revival of islam, etc etc

Salaam inuit,

Modern History of the Ismailis: Continuity and Change in a Muslim Community by Farhad Daftary (Will be available in Feb, 2010)
ISBN-10: 1845117174

the only thing that motivated me to open this thread is all the wrong stuff being spread about ismailis over the internet.. but there's one thing, my intentions r pure.. i guess america spoiled me.. n i asked my dad about ismaili books.. u can read nahj-ul-balagha of hazrat Ali (A.S).. or u can contact ismaili council of your city and ask them to provide wid books written by **ismaili imams n peers appointed by imams or the books approved by the institute of ismaili studies (which is approved by the imam).. **don't read books written by other people except for what is in bold.. farhad daftary is a twelver shia but his books r approved by the institute of ismaili studies u so can read them too..

Answer to your question: well, for us, imam-i-zamana is the mehdi.. imam jafar sadiq (A.S) has said : if there were two people present on earth, one would be the imam n surely the imam would be the last to die so that people may not ask Allah on qayamah that "why didn't you leave us with a hujjat on earth".
all this means that there's no one moment on earth when there's no guide present in the form of an imam (as ofcourse Risalat came to an end with Huzoor (S.A.W)..
