Negotiation is a specialist's job......not a politician's point scoring playground. Doing your own business is not the same as minding your own business. There is a reason why vigilante justice is frowned upon, no matter how well intended.
As I said before, Zamurud basically failed in his attempt, and landed smack on the ground, whereas the gunman had 2 guns with a clear sight of about 50 odd people. If a few people had died because of Zamurud's stupidity, we would be singing a different tune.
A few months ago, there was a hostage situation in the US, where a crazy gunman kidnapped a child. The police cornered him, and negotiated with him for 6 days before tiring him out and moving in. Some things just require patience.
Our media is ratings hungry, and they look for cheap action, and shape the mind of the public accordingly....and sadly, we fall into that trap too often.
Silaaj I dont disagree with you completely but blaming someone for rating and cheap actions is not appropriate here. Kuch karen to ghalat kuch naa ker saken to ghalat. If US managed to take that step towards the kidnapper, not necessarily we should do the same.... you talk about 6 days here, I dont know if YOU know how the general public started laughing at our Police forces for 6 hours... JUST 6 hours... ke dekho 6 ghantay hogaye aur kuch bhi na ker saki....

Zamarrud Khan is a PPP rehnuma, and I personally HATE PPP, hate is even not the extreme word BUT, I would never ignore a daring step he took, I dont say he is a Hero.. but I must say... he is a brave man... only for ratings, no one would want to keep his life in risk....

What I want to say here is... jo bhi hua....isay aisay hi hona tha... aur shayad yehi theek tha... do you think the children would have been able to survive for 6 days without food or anything??

If only Zamurud was PTI member he would have been made president here. Come on, the guy did a brave thing, in other countries also other people have negotiated with kidnappers and criminals. more than zamurud what I found tasteless is that there was no crowd control and people were swarming all over while shooting was going on. So much for our law enforcing agencies. Give credit where it is due. zamurud deserves bit of credit and respect even if he is from the chawal party..

Considering the recent events the inaction of the police administration to over power a lone gunman was not creating a good impression among the people (and that in the center of the capital). The way media has covered the event I fear more Sikandars in the offing. Bravery needs to be commended in these times, remember there are others who cannot even condemn these events.

^ using snipers when medial was giving upto the second live coverage with multiple camera on one screen on each channel and his little kids always watching him and kids watching in almost every home, live stupidity, probably shooting him was not an option, though it was one of the easiest thing to do for armed forces. unfortunately it resorted to shooting finally because someone couldn't control his urge and police was idiot enough to let him that close.

actually he did fire many shots, but luckily no one was hit, and police/snipers were ready and quick to shoot him in leg

Devi, did *you *see the entire footage? the media had been telling again and again how police wanted the crowd to go away... even at one point, the police had the hatha paai with media too because they didn't want any single to be near Sikender...
Ab agar log hi naa hatna chahen aur tamasha dekhte rahain to kab tak koi step na liya jaata.... logo ko apni jaan ki parwa hoti to irdd gird mundla na rahay hotay... sabko tamashay soojtay hain... Main agar us city main hoti to at least us area ka rukh na kerti, considering may he have not fixed some bomb in the car or around the premises!! In fact main ghar se bhi na niklti, because umoman aisay logo ka doosri terrorist parties bhi faeda utha leti hain.. and I would not feel hesitate to mention that at a point, even "I" felt that he may be a distraction to some other incident, going to be happen some where else!! Shukar aisa hoa nahn!

as a rule, when there is police action/hostage taking is in progress in an area, the first thing the competent police does is to move the bystanders to a safer place away from the site...police did NOT do that...
secondly, police does NOT allow any one to approach the hostage taker but the police did
thirdly, the act of Zamarrud Khan was very dangerous at best...he NOT only jeopardized/compromised the safety/life of his own, the kids (the police was desperately trying to spare the kids) and the stupid bystanders who were so close to the gunman.
thank God, no one died but it could have been a disaster if he managed to kill a dozen or two or if the kids were killed.
