When did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) become a prophet?

Question .....I am asking about some evidence in regrads to the Prophets Life (saw). Allot of the ullema state that the Prophet was born prophet which i accept. Others will reject and state the prophet became prophet after the age of 40... Can you please clear this with evidence about the When the prophet was prophet?

Answer.....

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate. May His abundant blessing and most perfect of peace be on His Beloved Prophet, the best of creation, and his family, companions and followers.
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

The knowledge of Allah is not conditioned by time, for He is the creator of time, just as He is the creator of all space. Thus, Allah knows all that was, is, and will be, without ever not knowing any of it.

Given this, Allah knows from beginningless eternity of the Prophethood of our Beloved Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him), and He Himself willed this rank for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) in beginningless eternity.
*In this sense, the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) was a Prophet before all creation. *

The world of souls was created before the world of forms and the soul of the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) has been the best and greatest soul of all created things since, till the end of time: the soul of the Best of Prophets (peace and blessings be upon them all). It was in this sense that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “I was a prophet when Adam was between mud and water.” [Tirmidhi (who declared it soundly authentic), Hakim, Ibn Hibban, Bukhari in his Tarikh, and many others; al-Haythami said its narrators are those of the Sahih]
On the worldly plane, this honor of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) was manifested when Gibril (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him at the age of 40 in the cave in Mount Hirat. In this sense, he ‘became’ a prophet at the age of 40.

And Allah alone gives success.

peace from me also dear sister.....:) i just want to differentiate between lack of tolerance in wahbi/salafi scholars "USUALLY" .......and this is sad.....

for example...you can oppose the scholar like Syed Maudoodi in 1 issue..10 issues...100 issues......but if someone says he is deviated person ....i think he is the most foolish and deviated himself.......can you challenge his rest of wisdom..intellect and his whole life deeds for islam...how shameful is that on 1 or 2 point difference....one should negate his whole life hard work....

similarly ......in case of 4 greatest faqeeh...you can oppose them in various issues...but if someone says that they are wrong...then he should have his mental check up !!!!!!!

sis...i am not saying you...some members just mention Tawheed...and i gave my opinion...as just considering tawheed is mostly salafi thinkin....

i cannot go against my sister :) ...but difference of opinion is another thing...and it will always remain...but it will nver turn into personal ...atleast from me :)

What do you mean by that? Every muslim knows that Tawhid is the first fundamental of Islam.

But i will not stand with those who have a "conservative" and "hard core"

attitude towards 4 greatest faqeehs of 1400 yeras...and thousands of great scholars accepted thier knowledge...greatness...and wisdom..they are not mad..fool...and ignorant.....who has the courage to challenge thier intellect !!!!!

neither i will accept that hadees which is considered as true by "ONLY" Albani.......all great muhadiseen are not psycho !!!!

neither ...i have a habbit of calling people deviated...by just difference of opinion.....

neither ...i will ridicule the great sufia of islam...through which the isl;am spreaded in most of the parts......

neither i will blindly follow the Ibne Tamiyya...and Ibne Jauzzia.......

neither i will say that Abu Hanifa is not Imam Azam...Imam Azam was prophet(pbuh)....just a funny point......is there any comparison between a nabi and a ummati !!!!!!

neithet i will say to any person that since you do not do Rafa Yadain and Ameen Biljahar..... so you whole Namaz is wasted ..and also previous all namazs....

neither i will call a woman who do not take the Niqaab of face that she is not observing purda......

neither i will blindly follow the fatawas of Ibne Baaz...although we all respect them..but not blindly......

neither i will issue the kufr fawas on Ashraf Ali Thanvi...Ahmed Raza Khan Brelvi ...and Maulana Maudoodi......(have arbs in 200 years produced such great scholars)

neither i will rank my prophet(pbuh) just as my "Elder Brother".......

neither i will support the "extremist jihadi " version of islam...which by large is bringing destruction is Iraq...and Pakistan also.....

neither i will say to any sect and school of thought that only "Ahle Hadees" are 1 sect ...rest all are 72 sects ..which will go to hell by hadees.....

etc etc .....

they are not the "thaikaidars" of who is deviated and who is not .....

I dont know what you're talking about.......ahle hadith are not like this what you've mentioned above. You are just accusing them without a reference or so.

they are even more.....

we do not like thier "fundamentalist" approach.....

they think...only they are right rest are deviated and "taqleed" is harm...while they themselves do taqleed of ahmed bin hanbal....ibne tamiyya and Albani...etc....

they are not "ONLY" scholars.....the greater work in whole islamic history is done by non-arabs...not these arabs.... and they have no right to "Impose" their version of islam on 85 % majority who love and respect and follow 4 imams....

Hadith Bukhari ... 3301. It is related that Abu Hurayra said that it was asked, "Messenger of Allah, who is the noblest of people?" He replied, "The one with the most fear of Allah." They said, "This is not what we meant." He said, "Yusuf, the Prophet."

Peace Everyone

When the Qur'an says that 'we make no distinction between' the prophets, that is what we must do. The explanation provided by Dawa-i-dil can suit some people, however, it is a weak explanation and here is why:

The term, 'make no distinction (or difference) between (or among) them' comes after the statement that 'we believe in the prophets' that all the prophets have already been mentioned it would be double talk to say this again with no further meaning. Rather it is better to clarify this belief in the prophets, that we believe all the prophets are from God and we make no prophet higher than any other. There are two subtle differences here and one is stronger in meaning than the other.

Muhammad (SAW) is the most important prophet to this Ummah that is without doubt. We are his followers. The people who came before us and before him (SAW), were only required to believe and follow their prophet of their time. We should realise this.

Also the hadith above shines out more uncertainty regarding this constant attempts to contrast the prophets of Allah (SWT). The prophet Muhammad (SAW) himself said that Yusuf (AS) was the noblest of people as far as the hadith states. This can be interpreted again and can lead to many flourishing ideas.

In a simple way we should only say that what we have been instructed to say and believe that what we have been instructed to believe. I am amazed that the Kalimah only states that we must believe in Muhammad (SAW) as a messenger of God rather than the chosen elite ... But hey that is down to interpretation also.

Why do we try to interpret the clear statements ... I don't know!

I would like to testify that no one is wrong unless they can provide a basis for their arguments. Then we must choose whose basis is stronger and better fits the hearts.

And further more ...i am not accusing them...i am just saying that we will never ever follow which they follow...mere words of Bukhari...and neglecting the ASOOL on which 4 greatest fuqhas developed the whole system of Fiqah.....

just reading from Bukhari and quran...and giving fatwa is just kidding......

the 4 imams and thier thousands of students and scholars throughout 1200 yeras cannot be on wrong path...never ever.....

^^ I am not making any distinction...all prophets are equallyrespectable to us...i just said that...out of 1 ,24,000 prophets...our prophet muhammad(pbuh) is the leader of all prophets......and thats all.....and i have ...rather all muslim ummah have no doubt about that......i am not degrading other prophets...but i cannot say that muhammad(pbuh) has "NO" speciality over the others.....because....

Of those messengers, some of whom We have caused to excel others, and of whom there are some unto whom Allah spoke, while some of them He exalted (above others) in degree...} (2:253). Allah also mentions "the Messengers of inflexible purpose" (ulil-`azm 46:35).

I will never ever respect my prophet(pbuh) as someone respect his elder brother only..... !!!!!!!!!

not all but some do that...like www.islam-qa.com very much respect 4 imams....but like what Jamat-e-Dawa ...i doing and spreading its literature and newspaper..and net site....they ...not openly...but in quiet ords...do all this which i mentiod above.......

in simple words...we call it "Wahabism "...and the whole world knows this word and whats behind yhis word !!!!!!

although some propaganda but also some truth !!!!!

and say that hanafi Fiqah is 70 % wrong and such nonesense...have they the intellect and knowledge of the same amount as this greatest of all imam was !!!!!!!

I don't know what ' taqleed ' is. But about ' hanfi 70% wrong '......do you have a reference for that. I don't think any ahle hadith scholar has said that.
