In a damning indictment, America’s top military officer Mike Mullen has said the ISI is fomenting “chaotic activity” in Kashmir and Afghanistan.
The US is having “discussions” with the Pakistani leadership on this issue, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said in an interview to Al-Jazeera TV.
“ISI has been supporting militant groups in Kashmir and the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) bordering Afghanistan. That’s got to change,” said Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen. Mullen said the ISI has been supporting militant groups in Kashmir and the Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) bordering Afghanistan…and in the long run the ISI has to change its strategic thrust which has been to foment chaotic activity in its border countries.
He also spoke on Al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden.
PTI adds: The Al-Qaida leadership, including its elusive supremo Osama bin Laden, was in the restive tribal belt of Pakistan, but the US was not planning to send combat troops to a “sovereign country” to hunt them down, the top American military official has said.
“I do, I do” – this is how Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen responded when asked during an interview to Al-Jazeera TV whether he believes the Al-Qaida leadership and bin Laden is in Pakistan.
“Our major goal in that area right now is … to disrupt and defeat Al-Qaida whose leadership resides in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA),” he said but ruled out sending troops to Pakistan on hot pursuit as it is a “sovereign country”.
“We don’t go into sovereign countries,” he said.
ISI did support ‘militant organisations’ and so was USA supporting those very militant organisations.
Can we believe him when he says Osama is in Pakistan when he also says:
“We don’t go into sovereign countries,” he said.
Was Iraq not a sovereign country? You go destroy a country in the name of ‘liberating’ it.
If the US intelligence on Osama is so strong, why have they not been able to track him? Its been eight years already and no trace of a ‘caveman’? Would it be the same as when US could not find a trace of ‘weapons of mass destruction’ in Iraq?

True, but the difference is that US stopped supporting them and Pakistan is still doing that. And all the while it claims to be a victim of terror and and equal partner in the war on terror.
Don't worry about us - we are quite capable of handling ISI. The ISI danda is only acting against Pak interests.
ISI creates trouble in Kashmir, RAW might be creating trouble in Baluchistan. Just remember that RAW is a much more potent agency - does Bangladesh 1971 ring a bell ??
Maybe if you stop causing trouble in Baluchistan the ISI will ease the danda a little.
Watch Bolta Pakistan on baluchistan issue and see for yourself it's not India it's general baluchisy who are against forcible accession of baluchistan into pakistan by ousting Khan of Kalat..
What if I show you many bolta hindustans talking about the separatist movements in India?
Show me even oen creible mainstream channel showing any separatist activities beaming from the respective colleges and universities of any region of india..

If you go read the original interview on aljazeerah and not 'credible' ndtv news, you'll find that he was talking about the PAST as well.
Decipher this … he is asking ISI to change … if it was in PAST … why would he ask that … also keep in mind he has to work with ISI …
Al Jazeera English - Focus - Q&A: US Admiral Michael Mullen What do you mean when you say they’ve had a strategic thrust - the ISI has had a strategic thrust to foment choas in bordering countries?
What I mean is that they have clearly focused on support of … historically of militant organisations both east and west. I mean that’s been a focus of theirs in Kashmir historically as well as in FATA. And I think … that fundamentally has to change.
And there are discussions which have been ongoing in respect to that and the leadership recognises that and there is a big challenge dealing with that based on what their history is and what they need to do for the future.

If the ‘top US guy’ is not happy with the change, he can go back to Iraq and have fun there. “We don’t go into sovereign countries,”
P.S. This is my personal opinion, maybe not my Government’s.

good move by USA to shift focus of world from the war pakistan is fighting n against indian/israeli/US sponsored terrorists in Northern areas. Thats so typical of USA.
